The vendor i've been talking to re: the new RC's says that there is one UK supplier getting 6-APB in, and he's wholesaling it to a few other vendors (including the one i've been in communication with). The claim of it being 6-APDB was made in error - either there was a miscommunication, or they were going to do 6-APDB, but got scared that it might be covered by UK laws and went for 6-APB. There is no indication that there's anyone else in the process of getting 6-APB/APDB in, so what we're getting is almost certainly 6-APB.
Whether it is neurotoxic depends on how exactly the neurotoxicity of MDMA occurs. It has been demonstrated by nichols et al that simple release of 5-HT/DA/NE is NOT enough to cause neurotoxicity (5-IAI was found to be non-neurotoxic, while it is a triple release agent, which flies in the face of the "DA gets into 5-HT neurons that have been depleted of 5-HT, where it kills them through oxidative stress" theory).
Until we know WHY MDMA is neurotoxic, we can't really predict what will and won't be neurotoxic... It's very possible that these are, but we probably won't find out until people start taking them, and reporting long term effects. Remember that MDMA is pretty bad (in lab studies), and people still take it tons of times with not _that_ much long term damage.
I've seen some suggest involvement of metabolites (particularly the 3,4-dihydroxy compounds, resulting from hydrolysis of the MD ring)... but that doesnt account for the similar neurotoxicity of the para-halo-amphetamines....
I'm sure we'll find out when this stuff becomes available. I'll be getting a small sample of 6-APB soonish, and of course i'll report back.
Regarding the stupid names... people need to fucking boycott anyplace that won't give you a credible name for the products they're selling. It's a testament to how destructive the illicit nature of the drug market is, that users are willing to accept drugs with no clue what's in them.
