more hyperbole.

you can put away the tiny violin, droppers.

alasdair

I’m going to take that as yes to being allowed to express my opinion. If you want me to get critical about the trump admin just ask about sessions, pompeo, and Bolton :)

Also the silence on the count dankula debacle from the liberal elite posters is deafening. The question is if a distasteful joke goes too far and makes you look like you’re not ‘just decent person’ should that be legally punishable.. Check out the thread I’d love to hear your take on it. And yes I understand the UK doesn’t have a first amendment/ freedom of speech.

Obama managed to create the economy and unemployment rate that Trump inherited and that all his supporters somehow believe he magically created the instant he got into office.

Out of curiosity, am I one of the liberal posters? I hate trump as much as anyone. I was posting on the thread till the only other person there decided to ignore me. It wasnt even that off topic, but even if it had been it was more activity than nothing.

Alas I have I strong feeling I don't belong to either side, story of my life.

Nah I think you’re pretty pragmatic, but like most of us, you don’t fit neatly into one box. Trump is an easy person to dislike, as his bull in a china shop persona is certainly not for everyone. Also I think you live in a very insulated left leaning bubble which may influence you in way you don’t realize. Trump is our first non shill/puppet president in decades, I don’t think that should go under stated. He doesn’t get very fair coverage here so I’m guessing Australia is a wash..

obama's lowest approval rating across 8 years in office was 39%.
but but Obama

perhaps you could take a moment and explain what your problem is with their methodologies that leads you to believe that these venerable polling companies are getting it wrong and your opinion is correct?
Because they're fake and made-up as we saw during the election. Hillary 98% chance of winning? Trump 1% chance to win the Republican nomination?
Even the most respected pollster in the world Nate Silver said on election night that Clinton had a 75% chance of winning. The polls are propaganda.

here's a list of the most prominent pollers when it comes to presidential approval: Rasmussen Reports; Ipsos/Reuters; Marist Poll; Fox News; Gallup Poll; NBC News/Wall Street Journal; Pew Research Center; CBS News; George Washington University; Quinnipiac University; Monmouth University; Suffolk University/USA Today; CNN; Kaiser Family Foundation; Public Policy Polling; Investor's Business Daily/TIPP; ABC News/Washington Post; CNBC; Public Religion Research Institute; Washington Post/University of Maryland; Bloomberg News.

The source who was proven to put out the most accurate polling recently has been Rasmussen who say:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump?s job performance.

Why you comparing him to Obama if Obama was so much better?

^ obama is out of office. that graph makes no sense at all.

but but Obama
i was obviously putting trump's number in context. you're trumpeting it like he's mr. superpopular when his highest approval rating isn't much better than obama's lowest approval rating.

when trump hits 69% you give me a call, ok? :)

alasdair

When the media treats Trump the same as they did their darling Obama then let's do a fair comparison ;)

you're trumpeting it like he's mr. superpopular
Nah I'm just saying that he's not Mr Super-Unpopular

I'm not sure we're posting anymore about this stuff, but Trump's VA head Dr. David Shulkin is out.

Robert Wilkie of DOD will serve as Acting Secretary.

Trump has nominated Admiral Ronny L. Jackson, MD, as the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Apparently Shulkin and Trump butted heads and also those ethics violations...of Shulkin's, I mean.

Veterans deserve the best care. Not a Secretary of Affairs who abuses his or her position. And not a moron who wants a parade like he saw in France.

Indeed. Ethics does not seen to matter for Trump.

It's not very accurate to simply compare the approval at the same time in office. Not without looking into the context surrounding both leaders at the time anyway. And going on a 12 month average, Obama leads. Though honestly I don't think approval ratings should matter much either way. Lots of terrible people and terrible leaders have or had high approval ratings. People's approval of something doesn't have a very good relationship with reality.

^ So true.

Also...It's as if Obama didn't go into the presidency during the Great Recession. Did everyone forget that already?

As we now see, a horrible president can do a lot of institutional damage rapidly.

I was watching some interviews in which people reminded me how far and how quickly we've fallen.

Let's get the military to guard the Southern border until the wall gets built.

Cross-border migration is historically low, but let's ignore important things like facts and everything else in the world and play soldier. Jim Mattis is going to have a rough time ahead. I don't envy him.

^ I totally agree.

About the ratings, it should not matter. Even if that is correct it does not seem to be consistent if it’s not constant. I believe that the low 30-34% stands for a longer period of time if we think in that direction.

It's amazing to see the fear and hatred trump is projecting about a group of impoverished people.
He really takes 'punching down' to a whole new level. These people are a threat to no one, but it's clearly pandering to the racist inclinations of those who support him.

Like everything about trump, it's a load of hyperbolic bullshit to pretend this 'caravan' of people is a threat to the world's richest nation in any way.
It's a damn shame that someone with trump's power and influence - and ability to affect positive change in the world - just squanders it by cynically stoking prejudice. A billionaire (as he claims) who spends more time scapegoating and attacking poor people than making any effort to govern or lead the nation.
Politics aside - what a pathetic asshole.

It's such a nihilistic joke of a presidency - even after more than a year, it still seems surreal to me to see this trashy conman pretending to be president. It's like a bad remake of an old film - i recognise the general idea, but its b-grade production is so inept that it's impossible to take seriously.
The creepy thing as that some people still seem to support him. It's given me an insight into how people get swept up in mob mentality - actively working against their own interests because their most base fears are being pandered to.
The saving grace here is that trump is an unstable freak of questionable intelligence, because if he had the political nous to directthe cultural wave he's riding, he would be a lot more dangerous than he is.
I mean, what he's doing is dangerous and destructive - but if he was a halfway savvy leader, he would be much more of a threat to democracy and to humanity.
His compulsive incompetence is worrying, but also paradoxically comforting. His ineptitude and incompetence may well be his saving grace... Although, perhaps it will be the death of us all.

Trump is like Robin Hood in reverse - a bloated old man who steals from the poor and gives to the rich.

This!

It seems like a lot of people is taking a ride in this hating free game. Showing who they really are. It seems that what was making a lot people of people more inclined to accept the different, or becoming more civilized is now totally out. And things are going backwards. Suck a retrocession.

God emperor put troops on the border today! Finally someone is doing something, 1500 families of illegal migrants from Central America are headed up to the border. Someone needs to do something or else our courts will be flush with many millions of dollars of tax payer dollars in court costs etc. I’m about to get out and start campaigning for 2020.

Imagine all the children going back to places they hardly remember. People forget that the US is a country of immigrants. From centuries these immigrants were the people who fled and moved to a place they built for you so that you can feel as comfortable as you are feeling.

Tbf trump offered 1.8 daca recipients a pathway to citizenship, but the other side found the issue to be more important to save for the 2018 elections. These folks aren’t even here yet, my question is whom or what promoted them to group up and head for the border. A country isn’t a country without laws and borders. Any other country would protect their borders, why must we have open borders? Call me a nationalist but Our social safety net should be for our countries citizens. Jmo though
