Black players aren't allowed to be confident, have the wrong haircut, speak in the wrong tone, wear jewelry, or take their shirts off if they have tattoos. UK basketball made the mistake of posting a team photo after practice a couple of years ago and the comment section turned into a goddamn KKK rally.

That's... depressing :(

He just purposely gave a defenseless guy brain damage...
i think that's hyperbole.

the gronk hit was dirty, for sure. my guess is he'll be, at very least, fined and possibly suspended. hard to discuss until the nfl makes their decision.

i don't get what your point is about brady? he and his oc had a diagreement on the sideline, that happens every sunday and it's hardly noteworthy.

If you want to reread my post you can. Brady got in the dudes face aggressively and completely disrespected him. He gets a pass because aw shucks that’s just good ole Tom being passionate about football. Cam got in a minor spat with Rivera a week or two ago over going for it on 4th down. No one got in anyone’s face. No one screamed. No one was disrespectful. It was just a misunderstanding. Yet Cam got reprimanded almost immediately and had to take shit about it after the game for days.

Get it?

i guess when cam has 5 superbowl rings, he'll get a break :)

on the newton/rivera thing, rivera just told him to not do that. like brady/mcdaniels, it was in the heat of the moment and they were talking fine shortly after. i have no idea about the relationship that newton and rivera have nor the relationship brady and mcdaniels have so it's pretty pointless to speculate.

you choose to characterise one as "got in the dudes face aggressively and completely disrespected him" and the other as "a minor spat". my guess is we're both too biased about our teams to see the other's point of view well.

on the gronk hit, he's been suspended.

Yeah, or maybe when his skin turns white.

Anyone who watched both incidents can clearly see the difference. Body language. Proximity. Intensity.

1 game is not enough.

Charles Johnson got 4 games for taking an illegal substance to help heal his back from surgery.

are you suggesting he should be sanctioned (by the NFL?) for having a disagreement with a member of his own coaching staff?

Cam hasn't earned the right to yell at his coaches yet Imo. When he has multiple rings and is one of the greats then he will have more leeway. I don't think it's a race thing

So what is it specifically about having won a Super Bowl that gives you a right to openly disrespect a person who is supposed to be an authoritative figure within the organization? Is it just one ring, or two? What exact number do you need and why?

We’re talking about visceral reactions here. The ones stirred up within the sports media world and society in general. It’s just a fact that black athletes have to walk on eggshells...walk three miles for every one mile walked by their white counterparts.

It’s kind of a convenient argument. Let’s wait until a black qb wins 5 Super Bowls before we draw conclusions.

i have no idea of the relationship between brady and mcdaniels so i can't comment on whether mcdaniels feels he was disrespected. perhaps you do and that gives you special insight?

No need for sarcasm. I’m making valid points here. Respond to some of them or move on.

i'm not being sarcastic. take my post at face value. i have no idea about brady and mcdaniels' relationship and, i believe, unless you do, it's erroneous to characterise brady's outburst as disrespectful.

between them, they've won 5 superbowls so my assumption is that they have a great working relationship and a sideline outburst is hardly going to upset that.

indeed: Josh McDaniels on Tom Brady dustup: 'It's never personal'

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels says he didn’t take Tom Brady’s blow-up on the sideline during Sunday’s game in Buffalo personally. He chalked it up to Brady being Brady, and part of what’s made the Patriots quarterback a five-time Super Bowl champion.

“It’s a very competitive game, an emotional game. Things like that can happen,” McDaniels said today during a conference call. “Being in the game a long time, and understanding Tommy’s a very emotional person, and player, it’s part of what makes him great. You understand those things happen. You know it’s never personal. You move on quickly from it. We did, and we have.

"I love Tom and all those things he stands for, and all those things he does for our team. That’s a situation where you understand it and move on quickly from it, and you focus on your job.”

Brady lit into McDaniels after an incompletion on third-and-11 ended a Patriots drive late in the first quarter. CBS television cameras captured Brady walking past McDaniels, who appeared to say something to the quarterback. Brady then turned and hollered at his longtime offensive coordinator for several seconds on the sideline, even ripping off his helmet to finish the outburst.

Not long after, the two were sitting together, going over the plan for the next offensive series.

Asked as a follow-up if there was a fine line between leadership and petulance, McDaniels said that didn’t enter the equation.

mcdaniels doesn't seem at all disrespected and i'm going to defer to him on this, over you.

A few things

1. Is something disrespectful or not solely based on whether the individual takes personal offense?
2. Would McDaniels ever in a million years admit to being offended, knowing it would make him look weak?
3. Would McDaniels ever in a million years admit to being offended, knowing it would prolong the media coverage and the distraction?
4. Would McDaniels ever in a million years admit to being offended, knowing he was talking to the Boston Herald?
5. Would McDaniels ever in a million years admit to being offended, knowing the entire fan base would villainize him?

None of this has anything to do with my original point. You are a smart guy, I know you know what my point is.

i do. i just disagree with it.

mcdaniels has won 5 rings with brady. i honestly believe he's a lot less bothered about this than you are.

So one game for

gronkwat.0.gif

Yea, the NFL sure is taking these hits to the head seriously.
what a farce.

Imagine if someone did that to Brady.

I also can't believe no one on the Bills even got a little bit fired up and at least gave Gronk's face mask a good tug and push.

If this was hockey that guy would've been picking his teeth up off the ice and suspended for multiple games.

they were there. maybe they feel is was not as bad a hit as you and mal3volent feel from the comfort of your armchairs :)

fwiw, i think it was a dirty hit and 1 game is too little.
