The 2013 mushroom thread

Searched my usual fields on Saturday.

Loads of mushies about but no libs yet. Altho my friend did find 12 in another field.
The temperature is meant to drop this weekend so that will help.
 
checked a few known spots earlier, plenty of different mushroom's just no libs! im near newcastle UK - we usually get them first week into october what i recall anyway - noticed some1 mentioned pulling them right up from the root/ stalk kill's them off. I think 1 of our main spots will be fucked this year.. as i know of ppl who pulled them this way last season or the season before..
 
Yup, I have some post-clubbing walkies planned. I love edible shrooms as well so if I find something decent and tasty it's a ncie consolation prize.
 
aint been out yet, i gonna go in next week or two they should be all over by now right?

Who needs fields when you've got a front lawn brimming with them :D picked 27 yesterday and another 18 today. I presume they must have got here from the fields I'm surrounded by. Should really get my ass out of gear this weekend and go for a walk
 
I had a half hour spare or so today and encouraged by last nights dew, I drove to a nearby field and in about 15 minutes I had sixty, basically three large clumps. There is going to be a bumper crop this year.
 
I went for a walk in a wood after that, lots of fungal life, I saw a large clump of amanitas, but couldn't identify which type as they were old and the colour was washed out, there was a clump of juvenile pestle puffballs nearby which are edible but I let them be because I had just hit on a scatter of big horse mushrooms, which I have just had identified and are soaking to be put in an omelette. Then off to the football, 20 or 30 so mushies at half time and out for beer later.
 
Psilocybin soup is the half time food of choice for the discerning denizens of the Showgies, at least this one anyways.
 
I found what looks like amanita muscaria (red with white dots, you know). Now I'm pretty sure it is what I think it is and this is probably a stupid question, but is there some other poisonous mushroom that looks EXACTLY the same? Am I okay to use them? I would post a pic but they honestly just look like any aminita muscaria pic you would see on the web.
 
Exactly the same, no. But slightly the same, yes, as it's in the Amanita family which has a lot of very deadly mushrooms and some of them are pinkish with white scales. You can post a photo here but I wouldn't have the confidence in an ID from here as from that mushroomy forum. :)
