Amanita are best avoided, fly agarics have dubious recreational value while the else of the genus includes the death cap the destroying angel and the panther cap which should be picked and dried only of you intend to poison a man.

Went out today at about 4pm, so late in the day knowing I would be getting left overs. Came back with a good few here, not 100 but enough for a good strong trip. Flicked the spores about a bit and found some patches so looking forward to returning to that spot in the earlier hours now.
Definitely about at the higher altitudes in full swing. I think i've a few here that aren't libs, but gonah sort that all out once they've dried.
Was seeing a lot more smaller ones though, so I think it was just me arriving late. If I'd been earlier in the day probably would've easily got a few hundred.
How long do you reckon we have to gather? I always hear people says first frost etc but some people here have said otherwise.

Would anyone have some advice about high doses of liberty caps? Was wondering how a large dose of caps would compare to a large dose of acid, Ive had them before and loved them but want to up the dose for next time and really see what these beauties can do :D
Also, what would you class as a 'high dose'? I was thinking 3-4 grams dried?

This weekend's pickings....
Only spent 1 hour picking on Saturday & 45 minutes on Sunday in the one field. Gonna try another field next. Not enough clusters in the one I got these.

hmmmmmm looks like im gonna get out and about and have a mycology outing! hopefully i pick up some libs, if not its always fun finding the other strange looking things , like the balls and such, such interesting thing that fungus grows like that, and we are lucky enough to have psilocybin/psilocyin in some of the species

yeh its quite warm up here in north west so i am still mulling over whether to leave it a while or not, i have seen some mushrooms though about, just walking about, i have yet to go on a hunt , probably best leaving it another week or so, it can vary alot, sometimes they coming mid september other times its mid october it factors on alot of things , where abouts in the UK are u btw hex?
still not come across any lib's, although its been quite warm here the past few days. - im near newcastl, checked my usual spots but nothing other than weird looking mushrooms. I was beginning to think the spots have been killed off due to people picking right from the root type of thing but there is still time yet! First time i ever picked mushrooms was the 2nd week into october a fair few years ago so fingers crossed! Ive also noticed, alot of the pics ive seen in this thread n past thread's, people are getting nice fair sized 1s? Ive only come across patchs of small 1s everytime and thats going out really early. any1 got any ideas as to why im only finding patchs of small 1s each year?

Had a look in Cheshire yesterday and found nothing. (Well, apart from an iphone, but sadly had the ethics to reunite it with its owner. Also not quite as edible as mushrooms.)
It's to do do with temperature and moisture/dew. I was told the season in the south of England starts with the crane flies and ends around bonfire night (early Nov).
At low doses mushrooms and LSD are similar but at high doses the experience is quite different. I can't imagine freaking out on mushies like I have done on acid. My OH used to do them every weekend and could cope with 5g quite easlly whereas 2g is enough for me. We have found that it's no good topping up, you have to take your dose in one go from the start.

perhaps the iphone ownere had cleaned up before you got there on the mushrooms? you should have asked them for a ransom : give me all your pickings.
I got loads of hazel nuts yesterday and saw a wide range of fungi but no little pointy fellas. some bloke told me they grow right by my old place of work so i may have a look this week if i get up early enough. well, get ready to go out and all that. i'd need someone to eat them with though. for a bag head I'm a bit of a scaredy cat with the thought of other illicit substances.

Where those libertys dried out yet mate? Just seeing compared to mine as a few have went a bit darker. Got a nice wee 3.5g pile here though for possibly the weekend, a lot of it seems a bit stemmy though and isn't there less of the good stuff in there? - Will be all going into a tea with lemon anyway!

The senses blending on higher doses for me can be fucking crazy. Like objects in sight are whispering because they are all flowing together with the other senses. Only had it a few times when I was coming up to a big whitey.

Not sure what you're askin but in the above pics they're all fresh. Only dried from a day's wind before being picked.
They're fully dried now tho obviously & ready to be grinded to dust & added to cup-a-soup! (the Marmz method!) %)
Didn't go pickin this weekend altho my mates did get a few hundred. Ended up goin out in Newry on Sun & Mon! We were on the way to Belfast & missed the last bus!
Will head out pickin again on Sat. Hopefully get a bit of rain before then.
