Hey! So everyone knows the Olympics are coming up in February. Lets do something fun like:
What country are you pulling for, and in what events.
Whats your favorite event:
Who's your favorite athlete:
Where do you want to see the 2014 winter Olympics?

I'm pulling for the USA in the Snowboarding events. =D
I like the Skeleton events. It takes guts to go head first down a huge icy slope and reach top speeds.

Favorite athletes; For men I like Shani Davis, and for women I like Alissa Czisny. Both seem like awesome snowboarders.

Lol, Gatlinburg TN!!!!

2/12/2010 18:00 - General - Opening Ceremony, catch ya there!

Fuck yeah, I love the Winter Olympics. It is my favourite Olympics until the ParaOlympics starts accepting cyborgs.

Hard to say what my favourite event would be. I always love the Super G and Downhill as well as the luge events and snowboard half pipe. The snowboard cross is also cool to watch. The biathlon always intrigues me for it's randomness.

New Zealand doesn't really have a huge Winter Olympics history so I really don't have any national ties. I do love seeing a hot Nordic blonde smiling on the winners dias as I always imagine later that night the German 4 man sled team running a train through her ;)

I have a soft spot for Torah Bright in the womens half pipe. Cute, clean cut girl cutting sick on her snowboard. She is a good chance to medal if she is healthy.

I'm pretty sure the 2014 games are being held in Sochi, Russia.

im so excited, cant wait to watch HOCKEY
What country are you pulling for, and in what events. USA, hockey event and speed skating with Apolo Anton Ohno
Whats your favorite event: Hockey
Who's your favorite athlete: Henrik Lundqvist from Sweden (NY Rangers Goalie)
Where do you want to see the 2014 winter Olympics?
not sure

Hockey's going to be awesome, although the NHL playoffs are gonna get jibbed 'cause some players will be too burned out or injured.

Russia has a super strong team, but Canada will bring home the gold.

Hockey is a pretty exciting game to watch. I was never really into it mostly because it's not big where I'm at. When it comes down to country's going toe to toe, and in hockey fighting is a must in most cases. As this is the olympics I don't know if the players are allowed to fight? Like will the team get disqualified over a little hockey fight?
It's pretty cool to watch some of the skiers do back flips and 360's and land perfect. Snowboarding is my thing but I still think that it takes guts to get launched in the air and rely on your perfect balance on those 2 skis.
Bobsledding is a great event to watch. Ever since watching Jamaican Bobsled team movie as a kid It's cool to know that everyone in the sled has a job to do, and I cant imagine what it's like to drive one of those things at those speeds, and on ice?!
Cool shit, I'll be watching :)

im not even kidding when i say that i love watching curling.
HOLD! HOLD! HOLD!
fuck yeah.

That's the sport with those people that sweep in front of the thing to make it go faster/slow it down right? That is a cool thing to watch.

yeah, its like shuffleboard on ice. it might be the pot talking, but i get into it.

I remember watching that when I was younger. All that I can remember is a guy with a big mustache won.
Wish I was at the games :(

I'll be watching all the sliding sports (2-man luge, mostly just to laugh at the gayness of it), but the track at the Olympic Sliding Centre has already produced the fastest times in the world for all the sports, 50+ km/h faster than the Park City, UT track.

D's, skeleton is actually the least skilled of the sports, they basically tell you to just lay like a dead fish on the sled and let gravity do it's thing after you give it your best push. I was in a bobsled crash a couple days ago and have seen many, and I can tell you that there will be some wild ones at Vancouver.

I don't know if the skeleton is on a set track or you have to steer thing sled. Is Jamaica in the bobsled events this year?

have any of you guys been to whistler blackcomb before? it's the largest ski resort in north america. i was lucky enough to go for a week back in 2005. 5300 feet of vertical the place is amazing!

I absolutely love the Winter Olympics!! It's great because whenever it's on it's always Summer in Australia (i.e. fucking HOT :() so it's like a little mid-Summer Winter holiday =D
I'll be watching Dale Begg-Smith in the moguls events, and Lydia Lassila in the aerial skiing.

Can't wait!!!!!

I don't know if the skeleton is on a set track or you have to steer thing sled. Is Jamaica in the bobsled events this year?

Both skeleton and bobsled start by pushing their sleds down a 50m ramp with grooves cut to keep the sled on line. After that its all steering. To steer a skele, you can either drag your toes (slows you down) or make slight adjustments by dropping your shoulder to either side.

What country, what events: USA, i want em to win em all but i can get into anything that isnt figure skating

Fav Event: dont have one

Fav Althlete: couldnt name a single one besides Shawn white and he definately isnt my favorite

2014 location: I dunno, i dont see anything wrong with Sochi, Russia. Vancouver is a fuckin nice city/area but having to bring in snow on trucks is fuckin weaksuace.

i guess if i had to pick i would say somewhere in Alaska might be kool

omg these games are awesome!!!!! it takes a lot of courage to do what the athletes do. having millions of eyes watching you, and judges that grade you on every fucking thing.
I recall playing shawn white snowboarding and the shit i do in the game is nothing compared to real life.
awesome x3
goo usa!!

i guess its kinda unfair for me to not like him

cuz he is doing good for himself n all that

but.... most snow boarders are partiers/stoners/dopers what have you

alot of the people in the snow boarding scene are all friends n such n hang out together n get fucked up n ride n shit, so i have heard/read

i read an article one time about some of those dudes from the show Danny n the Dingo, they were talkin about how they all used to ride/chill together but that Shawn has kinda sold out n gone "hollywood" on em.

so i guess it is not a very good reason but i guess im just not on the Shawn White bandwagon as most of the country is.

Check this: Tony Hawk was the biggest name in his "xtreme sport" and he made plenty of corporate deals n such but you'd still see him on Jackass and shit.

I dunno i guess i just view Shawn White as a Sell out

but having said that....

if i had a fraction of the talent he has and i had the opportunity

i cant say i wouldnt sell out myself

So maybe my reason isnt very justified, but there it is.

Anyways Go Team USA (even if that mean SW gets a gold ;) )

so you dislike him, in part, because you heard that some snowboarders - not necessarily him - hang out together and are friends?

awesome. truly awesome answer. is the irony of your post complaining that some snowboarders (again not necessarily shaun white himself) use drugs being on bluelight completely lost on you? again, truly awesome answer.

in what sense is he a sell-out?
