i can't believe i didn't even think about this thread being created!!!
i'm an american and the winter olympics and the world cup are the two times that i really TRULY feel ecstatic to be an american. i wear my pride on my sleeves come both those times!
that said. the winter olympics are something that i LIVE for! i'm such a douche for the winter olympics that i record every bit that i can to DVDs and actually create my own binder where i print out results, pictures, medal tallies, etc. and keep it organized so that years down the road i can look at it and relive all the glory that i'm seeing unfold on my television screen. i'm the only person at my job who can not only tell you how many medals each country has, but what events they've won them in, and who won them. it's either pathetic or awesome, but to me it's wonderful!
with me being as big of a hockey fan as i am, naturally that's my FAVORITE. i enjoy watching these guys play for their countries (women's hockey is alright, but doesn't do much for me) because a gold medal in hockey is the only thing that trumps winning the stanley cup, IMO. any of the sliding events (ie, luge, skeleton, bobsled) are SO fun to watch. curling is something that i can't explain how much enjoyment i get out of it, but other's who get into know exactly how great it is. men's short track speed skating would probably be next followed by couples figure skating. somewhere in the mix of what i've already mentioned would be the skiing events, alpine first, then ski jumping, then freestyle (moguls). the only thing that i really am so-so about is snowboarding. i enjoy watching it, but it just doesn't do it for me like most of the other events for some reason.
i know i didn't name all the events and to be quite honest, i didn't necessarily put them in order of my favorite to least, but something similar. men's hockey is easily my favorite, however.
