Hi,

I have some THCa weed on its way. As i understand it is not psychoactive on its own. So i'd like to know the best method to convert it so I can get the most out of it.

Thanks.

Very simple, just smoke it/burn it/decarboxylate it. Google is a great friend for some of these questions LoL. THCA is just weed really. It converts to Delta 9 THC when heated, and basically exists in a legal grey zone for the time being, because prior to smoking it , the herb lacks enough Delta 9 THC to be considered illegal.

So light that shit up and enjoy, if that's what you're seeking . 🙏

based on how you cure it, or when you harvest could one make thc-a bud and thc bud off the same plant?

Pure THCa is a powder that readily melts into an oil which is THC by giving off a carboxy group as a CO2.

I think most of the THC in fresh regular weed is THCa. These "THCa" weeds are just controlled for it. Smoking works, but there may conceivably be some loss due to the decarboxylation conditions compared to a controlled heating. However as stated that would apply to virtually all or at least much of normal weed and maybe even hashish.

Actually what would be interesting is if someone were to try and just smoke or vape pure powder THCa and see how it behaves.

Here in Europe they have THCA isolate and they sprinkle it on the buds or melt the hash and mix it with it they do the same with the vapes. I haven’t seen any natural THCA bud here in Europe it’s all isolate powder.
And if you just smoke the powder it behaves as regular THC

I don't understand why people are so keen to distinctuate THCA from regular THC. THC has always been THCA. Weed plants do not produce THC, its just the natural oxidation product of THCA.

To convert THCA to THC it needs to be heated to 200+ degrees. Or it happens naturally over time through oxidation, but this takes awhile. This is also why older weed seems more sleepy because THCA -> THC -> CBN is the natural degradation cycle.

One can get thcA buds sent to their doorstep in fifty states.

Dispensary weed, on the other hand, is not legally allowed to cross state lines.
Surely if all weed is thcA, dispensaries should be able to sell across states too?
Is it a distinction without a difference, or is dispensary weed different?
Stupid question maybe I win stupid prizes?
I wonder if some dispensaries also send differently labeled product across state lines calling it thcA weed

It works great, ive made vapecarts from it.
Ive also played around with mixing the isolate powder with CBG kif and then making hash in a pollenpress.

You can also mix it in a joint with regular weed or hash for some extra horsepower.
Thats probably my favorite way to use the THCA isolate.
Really makes whatever you smoked before hot way harder.
That way you also get whatever is in the stuff you mixed it with.

It is what is called a loophole.

The law is made by a bunch of mofo's who really dont give a shit and written as such. THCA + heat = THC @ 87%

The grey is vast and deep -- individuals are quick -- bureacrucy is slow and unwieldy.

The system likes low hanging fruit

THCA Diamond Formation: Re-dissolving in Butane (and Safety!)

Scenario A: Butane-Extracted Live Resin (Direct Crystallization)

Starting Point: You have fresh, high-terpene, high-THCA live resin that was initially extracted with butane/propane, and the bulk of the solvent has been removed to a thick, sappy consistency. If using ethanol maceration extraction, filtration, deep freeze fraction purification, the res needs be re-dissolved into the hydrocarbon butane (hexane preferably as its not polar, and chlorophyll A/B are, but thats for a different post another day)

Process ("Sauce/Diamond Mining"):
Re-introducing Solvent: Often, more chilled butane/propane is reintroduced to the material inside a pressure-rated vessel (e.g., in a closed-loop system). The goal is to fully dissolve the THCA and terpenes again.
Sealing and Gentle Heat: The vessel is sealed. Gentle heat (like 90∘F) can be applied, but this must be done with extreme caution and in properly rated and controlled equipment. The heat helps ensure all THCA is dissolved.
Slow Pressure Release / Solvent Evaporation: This is the most crucial step. The vessel is very slowly and carefully vented (degassed) over days or even weeks. This gradual release of butane/propane causes the solution to become supersaturated. As the butane/propane evaporates, the THCA molecules arrange themselves into crystals. The terpenes, being more soluble in the remaining solvent, form the "sauce" around the diamonds.
Final Purging: Once crystals have grown to the desired size, the remaining solvent is fully purged, often under vacuum and low heat.

Ive seen glass jar diamonds, but pressure can break that glass, so another danger-ass alert there. Itll feel good to mine for diamonds (THCA) opposed to other blockchain mining (bad joke)

Diamonds are forever

Is it possible to refine some thca weed or hash to something more pleasurable? I tried it with some thca weed I had. Put it in a Container in a waterbath for some minutes and voila, its effects changed from rather umpleasant to a short but definetely better high than lets say cbd weed. If you have a proper tec you can get more out of it im sure. Any comments?

THCA is non polar liphophilic (fat loving compound) exploiting "like dissolves like" chemistry lets review a few solvents

Maceration: the process of taking live plants and pulling out the compound (here THCA)
Extraction: taking the soluble soup from maceration, and extracting the particular compound we want (THCA for example)

Solvent List:

water: polar and doesn't dissolve THCA (actually compared to THC THCA is more soluble than THC in water albeit really negligibly) so water wont work as far as dissolving thca
EtOH: ethanol definitely macerates and extracts HOWEVER, Cholorphyll A/B are amphiphilic they have both a non-polar and polar end (chlorophyll A/B have polar head and non polar tail)
and so does EtOH act amphiphilic having a polar hydroxyl head and a nonpolar ethyl tail, so EtOH dissolves both THCA and Cholorphyll A/B (what a bitch to freeze fraction the cholrophyll out too. You can leave the maceration soup in sunlight for few days bcuz UV destroys Chlorophyll A/B but thatll require patience leaving it sit around in sunlight)

Butane: we can watch youtube legal videos showing how non polar butane dissolves non poalr THCA and not so much chlorophyll (remember chlorphyll has a non-polar part so lil bit comes along)

Hexane: hard to get for back yard clandestine chemist (and fractional distillation of petro fuel no longer cuts it since they use more octane based hydrocarbons now days in car fuel - off topic.)However imho hexane is the best. It would dissolves the THCA and leave the cholorphyll behind

Acetone: see below

Check this article on pg 3 has nice lil chart re: Naptha, Petro Ether White Gas (spray weed wacker ether stuff,) Ethanol, Olive oil

keep in mind any usage of heat needs to be minimum below the decarboxlyation of THCA -> THC9
The ideal temperature for decarboxylating THCA into psychoactive THC ranges from 220°F to 250°F (104°C to 121°C) anything above 250 destroys it and pushes it into degredation CBN

But i went bantering on, to answer your ? directly, can you take live weed flower and wash it with warm water (not boiling bcuz it will start to macerate over time,) YEAH your water bath on some live plant matter isnt gonna ruin your flower buds, maybe lil sticky icky trichromes get emssed up a lil but the concentrate in the lvie plant flower still would remain in tact
rinse the dirt and insects off no probs (it rains on plants outdoors all time)

Solubility in water listed below:
Raw THCA (THCA-A)~3.5 to 5.0 mg/L (Slightly higher than THC)
Neutral Delta-9 THC~2.8 mg/L (0.0028 mg/mL)

Note: solubility and polarity are only certain aspects of this type of chemistry, we still take into consideration london dispersion forces etc to determine what dissolves what (hope i dont banter too much to point of confusion) we're dealing with drugs so i want this shit to be perfect

All right. People tried it and it want become much better than what I got out. Maybe a Little better than cbd weed but thats it.

Could you explain a lil more what you did?
You extracted the THCA from the plants, THCA isnt really gonna get you high and will be like CBD until you heat and decarboxylate it to THC9
