Credit where credit is due. Thatcher was (loving the use of WAS by the way) responsible (with Ken Baker) for the teachers strikes of the 80's, allowing for many glorious days intoxicated in the summer sunshine. Bless.

Only a student now, before any impact on me. In my last year so didnt get the increased fees. I don't support any political parties, I haven't voted once even when I turned 18. I don't feel any attachment to any party who doesn't do anything for me.

The first party to get my votes will be the one who eliminates child benefits for middle class families who don't need them, starts investing into graduate employment opportunities, stops fucking single parents in the asshole by putting them in the same tax brackets as other people and legalises drugs.

Sounds quite liberal, but want universities to stop letting people with three E's in to do a degree in performance art and stop giving benefits to lay abouts. Not unreasonable.

Tick most of those boxes and I'll find a way to vote twice.

Nope I'm just stating the facts, mate. Not sure what all the aggression is for. Already said I accept people hate her :) She fucked a lot of people over, but did some good as well. If you want to hate somebody I aint gonna tell you that you can't. You're telling me that I shouldn't appreciate what she did achieve. No need to be a prick about it :)
 
She did more harm than good. I can't think of any good unless you were in a small pocket of wealthy society anyway, in which case you did very well out of it in the short term, as your family seem to have done.

I come from a big (once industrial) city in the Midlands, and saw it destroyed, saw communities destroyed, saw whole areas of the city decimated.

I don't hate you, just you're speaking from the outside. And i dunno why I got drawn into "who started the welfare state"...it's fucking irrelevant. Thatcher was a cunt. A cunt's cunt.

My family were lucky in both incidents in that their businesses were eventually successful. My grandad was a part time accountant and owned his own shop in the East End, nan is rich because of the life insurance he took out when he was still here. My other side migrated from Ireland during a period where being Irish was worse than being black, and the rest of their family were heavily involved in stuff that happened in Ireland that I cant took about over the internet. They escaped from that, he set up his own construction company, had to remortgage a couple times, almost went bust a few times, and is now wealthy.

I'm not wealthy or from a wealthy background. I've got less money than my missus who is from a very poor background because I live on 5 grand a year in student loans; all they would give me. My parents are divorced and have little disposable income. Hence why I think how tax is done and student loans are done is unfair. Higher income =/= more disposable income.

I agree monkey, I have no appreciation of the time. I wasn't even a twitch in my dad's nutsack, I already said that. I was just stating the facts.
