TDS Social vs. where Darksiders come to play

Here's what I am doing: forcing myself to call friends. Calling the ones that know they can't "fix" me and taking crying-walks with them. Making fires in my backyard and staring into them and realizing that they are beautiful and comforting and primal and free (when you scrounge the wood from construction sites) and appreciating that.

Oh, yeah, and going to grief counseling. Not great, but an hour a week to be mindful with these feelings.
herbavore it is really admirable that you're actively doing things to improve your mood. With proactivity like that, hopefully you will be able to overcome this period of depression sooner <3

And as Dave said too, socialising is SO important for improving our mood! We are social creatures, after all. I find that if I'm down in the dumps, spending time with friends and having a laugh will completely turn my mood around :)

A big help for me when I'm depressed is exercise. But sometimes if I'm too far gone in to the depressive state, getting the motivation to do any exercise is infinitely difficult. But when I actually get out there and do something, it helps a LOT!!

Right, exercise is key. For me at least, the problem is that when I get depressed it 'breaks the chain' as it were: I get out of my exercise routine, and the way that my momentum works I just grind to a halt, which of course makes the depression far worse. It then takes months to get back to where I was before.

Even just a bit of exercise a day helps immensely. A walk in the evening can do wonders, and a hike on the weekend (ideally to somewhere beautiful) is an amazing thing.

It's important to realize that everyone goes through ups and downs in life, and you're never alone.

Everyone has their own pace at which they deal with things. Sometimes some people shut down, other times people don't know where to start.

Aww, you guys hit my weak spot! Exercise? Let's see, I think I remember what that is....
You are all right about how good it makes one feel and I do know it from past experience (as in months ago, at this point). I find my biggest obstacle is prioritizing everything over exercise when really it should be at the top. Thanks for the reminder.

Today I am doing a very impulsive thing-got a ticket this morning (had mucho miles!) and am jumping on a plane to Portland to surprise my 82 year old mom for her birthday. She is the eternal optimist and a rock in my life still and she still works out at the gym every morning at 5 am so maybe she'll get me there tomorrow. Have to come back tomorrow night for work but I'll get to see her blow out 82 candles!

^^ Honey that is amazing! Your mum is a lucky birthday girl indeed :) Hope you have a great time with her, with or without the 5am gym session! :) <3

Ix is a glutton for pain.
...and it takes one to know one ;)

So, Halloween is coming up......what's everyone going to dress up as??
Last year I was a bee:

I'm thinking this year I want to dress up as a cat, or maybe a nurse (I saw a cool nurse costume the other day). Halloween will be spent out in the forest a psytrance party so whatever I decide on, it has to be comfortable :D

I love everything you hate about yourself... <3 Yes, I am in love. Afraid to act on my feelings? I'm hesitant but confident. I know now isn't the time, but that the time will present itself. I've had bad experiences with girls...like never had a girlfriend XD So I'm keeping my head up high and going to keep past fears out of the way.

I think I might go as Alex :D

^there can be no other person on earth more appropriate...

Testing...testing
1day down, 2 more to go.
So I spent 2hours on the Writing portion of the GED exam.
I had the opportunity to write an absolutely bitchin essay about what I want the world to remember me for.
But it came at a price...
my hand hurt like hell for the following hour :(

^I'm sure you kicked ass!
either things have changed drastically or my memory sucks. I think I took my GED test in 1989. For some reason I recall it only being about 8 hours long.
I'm glad i took it then as opposed to now!
