With proactivity like that, hopefully you will be able to overcome this period of depression soonerHere's what I am doing: forcing myself to call friends. Calling the ones that know they can't "fix" me and taking crying-walks with them. Making fires in my backyard and staring into them and realizing that they are beautiful and comforting and primal and free (when you scrounge the wood from construction sites) and appreciating that.
Oh, yeah, and going to grief counseling. Not great, but an hour a week to be mindful with these feelings.
And as Dave said too, socialising is SO important for improving our mood! We are social creatures, after all. I find that if I'm down in the dumps, spending time with friends and having a laugh will completely turn my mood around
A big help for me when I'm depressed is exercise. But sometimes if I'm too far gone in to the depressive state, getting the motivation to do any exercise is infinitely difficult. But when I actually get out there and do something, it helps a LOT!!
