I was jut thinking, it would be totally phenomenal if in the future, when my (hopefully) wife is having a baby, if it came out w/ pubic hair. Like, not just baby silky hair, but a dense jungle foliage crop of pubes. I wonder if the doctors would blame my wife, like, suspect her of taking drugs, or some kinda hormones, perhaps an unconventional diet. I really was thinking about this earlier, and was, like, what the fuck?

tentram, thanks for the insight. I saw an old FWB (friend with benefits) a few days ago. He had a raunchy beard going on but I played it cool. Now I remember hearing of Movember and thank god.

Once it gets past a certain point, you won't want to part with it.

Or you do

ETA Beards are most excellent, but grooming is key.

hey, everybody. I just saw the movie Life of Pi. I read the book years ago and loved it so was a little hesitant to see the movie but it was amazing. I am now looking to borrow the book again so I can re-read it.

^I really want to see that. I also want to see Lincoln and The Hobbit though. Too many good movies come out at once.

Definitely just read that as friend with beard :D

I'm going to have my associate's degree in a couple weeks (finally), now I can't decide if I want to go ahead and do the commencement ceremony or not. On one hand, I did work hard for this and it'd be kind of nice to do but on the other my parents aren't going to be there. I think seeing other people with their families around them afterwards congratulating them might make me uber sad. I also am terrified that I'd make an ass of myself and trip while walking or something. I took the day off work for it, but I don't know yet..

yeah, and i've been at that stage for near 2weeks. i just need to tidy the edges up and go it over with the closest gauge to tie up all loose ends and even things out.

a guy a little older than me walked into the dr's waiting room sporting a similar beard and we had this moment of locked eyes and acknowledgement and commendation on each others' effort. it was weird but liberating. every man needs to sport a beard for some time in their life at least once.

Definitely just read that as friend with beard :D

haha nice catch:D

Truth. Some can pull it off better than others, but everyone should at least try once.

trip I'm getting a tattoo in two weeks, since you're the resident tattoo artist I was wondering if you could give me an idea of how much it's gonna hurt? (It'll be on my shoulder) :D

indeed they should!

i like to think i pull it off pretty well:D i do get the occasional remark of "nice effort for Movember" even if i did get a head start, a months worth altogether. i just need to get rid of the neck beard and give it a sweep through with a 4-6 gauge with the trimmer - whatever is closest to the length it's currently at.

I only read the book quite recently, enjoyed it. Was surprised when I heard about the film, wondered how they'd pull it off. There's a narrative structure there to hang a film on sure, but the book is not about its narrative, is it? Broader and deeper than that. Like Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and the film rights there. Fine idea, but any film would be essentially a road trip and a tale of mental breakdown which for the book is just the structure the real meat of it hangs off. :?

Oh, and don't buy a new copy whatever you do. Borrow a copy for now by all means but don't waste money on a new one. I have a cunning plan! :)

Do it. You've worked for it, should take part in the celebration acknowledging the effort needed to pass. It's an important day. It might be bittersweet sure but think you'll regret not doing it more than you'll regret any moments of sadness felt in taking part, honestly.

I keep trying, I keep trying Dave. Tried it as a teenager when I first had the chance, bit of an abject failure there not being nearly hirsute enough for it facially to pull off, but no matter, give it time I thought, be right. Tried again in my 20s, no better, earning the nickname Shaggy from Scooby-Doo for me troubles at work, close resemblance as it went, 30s not much of an improvement. Gave it another go earlier in the year thinking must be able to grow one by now, I'm 43 FFS, nice neat little goatie should be easy? Alas, seems not. Looks every bit as bloody daft as it always did, had 10 year olds asking WTF is that and WTF is it doing on yer face like that? It's just bleedin' embarassing man. :\

i was blessed with having to start shaving at the age of 16, through the end 2 years of highschool. i' was known for shaping all different badass chops. i'm 26 now and have a full face beard.

well i havent had any local close girlfriends in a while... but i just talked to a close friend of mine from my hometown for a while on the phone ... and god i feel so much better ....

also i have to write a ten page paper that relates somehow to alfred hitchcock for one of my classes.... If i was going to compare Tarantino's True Romance movie to a Hitchcock film which one should i pick? hmmmm

Call centres sound horrible.
My partner always ends up working in call centres for short amounts of time.
Eventually she cracks, leaves, gets over it, finds another call centre job, then cracks again, and so on, so fourth..!
I don't think I could handle it either.

They're mentally exhausting! I fantasize about standing up, ripping my headset off, and storming out of there =D

hthr007, I lasted a couple of hours once in a call center job. You have all my admiration for sticking it out but I hope that you can find something better. Congratulations on your major change. What was the major you were in before?

Thanks! I hope so too. It's a job which produces income, so even though I do dislike it I put my all into it. I'm an all or nothing girl :) well I currently have a degree in physical therapy & biomed, I was pursuing a bachelors in business but it was so very dull to me.. Now I'm going to be studying chemical engineering which I love. My classes start in January!

All you have to say is "ma'am, I don't have a manager, and if you don't want to talk to me, just be honest."

I had one woman tell me "I don't talk...over the phone." Word for word. So one, why do you own a phone, and two, why did you pick up the phone and start talking when you allegedly don't???
)

I'm going to use that line next time! It rings truth. I have a very "young" sounding voice so I think that's why people don't always take me seriously.

And LOL she said over the phone that she doesn't talk on the phone. People are absolutely ridiculous...

I don't mind call centres so much, easy to be good at it and a good feeling when a pissed off caller goes away happy with a problem solved. Inbound customer service type stuff anyways, outbound cold calling to people who've already had calls from your colleagues earlier and are far from fucking pleased to be getting yet another is infinitely suckier. Epson inkjet help desk was a great place to work in a small team with lots of potential seeing as it was Fujitsu I was actually employed by there as Epson's service provider back then in the UK, really regret fucking it up cos of the H. Big IT desk for a bank was less good, totally impersonal and only really deemed capable of handling the most trivial things on first line support like endless password resets, having to forward most things to dedicated teams but wasted opportunity there again. Agree though chemical engineering a vast improvement, lots more fun so good luck with it!
