I made it yall! Told ya I'd come back and let everyone know I'd arrived safely. It was a hot drive but the grammy and gramps got dinner cooked and I'm bout to chow with the folks. Love ya guys!

^OMG did I tear some grub up tonight! I swear I hate half a strawberry pie for dessert too. Now if I can just hold out til breakfast I might survive ;)

No way man. The other half of the pie needs to be re-united with its twin.

Unless I can convince gran and gramps of seppuku, that's gonna be hard lol

@n3o-It sure is. It's my partner's family but after nearly three years they become like your own :)

Public Service Announcement re: HIV

I wanted to leave a PSA in TDS regarding HIV.

A friend of a friend recently tested HIV+ (it does not matter who). Like many others before them, they are upset.

Please remember that it doesn't matter who you are, you can still contract HIV, so for this very reason...

* Please, never re-use a needle, or any other injection equipment.
* Always use a condom during sexual intercourse. Many needle exchanges hand out condoms, and if you show up and only get condoms, no one is going to judge you. Many universities and colleges have student health services where they will also distribute condoms.
* The newest trends of HIV infection are amongst all types of women, as well as straight latinos. HIV is not a disease that only affects gays; this is a dangerous way to think about blood borne illnesses.
* If you suspect someone of having contracted HIV, please urge that they get free testing done.
* Finally, if you are HIV+, you can still live a long and healthy life. You can prevent HIV+ from causing AIDS. It will require vigorous medical treatment, but it doesn't mean you still won't have a generous quality of life.

If you still feel upset, understandably, please talk to loved ones about how you feel. There are help lines as well as fellow Bluelighters who have a lot of love in their hearts. Please talk to someone - it is never too late to.

^ TY for posting for me - my good friend has been diagnosed today. As of right now he has an APB out due to the fact he has tried to take his life today once, please keep him in your thoughts. Please PLEASE read what CH has written , this affects us all - unless you don't have sex, never do drugs and live in a cave - these diseases are REAL and the affect on him and his loved ones is unbelievable. I am praying for him and I am not one to pray often. Just please think of him and his fam / friends. Just now hours later have I been able ot muster up and post.

^I wish the best for your friend taow. I'm certainly not an expert but I've worked with HIV patients and a lot of people are able to live healthy lives with the medications that are available today or even without them in certain cases. <3

C.H I am so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope they come to terms with and find some solace in their situation. Thank you very much for posting that harm reduction information <3

taow I am also very sorry to hear about your friend's diagnosis. I can't even imagine how horrifying it would feel to get a positive result :(
Also as Legerity said above, a lot of HIV patients can still live fulfilling lives with the advances in medicine these days.
