^ D'aw, cute puppy.

I'm so glad to have both my girls with me in the not-so-new-anymore apartment... The moose and the mouse are back together, albeit temporarily... I think if the mouse does well here, there won't be any complaints from my mom/gma about giving her up... She's a Pomeranian, so she barks a fair share... No one has ever really loved the dog but apparently deep down I do--I sure missed her a hell of a lot and cried about it quite a few times in the past two months... :-/ /ramblingbettersuitedforBlogs

That's my little girl. She sleeps with me every night and sometimes she thinks my bed belongs to her and only her :). She's such a sweet cat.

My current foster dog who I've had for almost 3 months now. He wasn't able to be listed as adoptable for the first 2 because he weighted 14 lbs and was supposed to be 9 so I had to wait until he got to a healthy weight to list him. Then just as he reached his ideal weight the applications closed for the entire month of December because our organization doesn't approve of adopting out as Christmas presents.

I was expecting to have this little guy for another 3 months but a few days after the adoption hold was lifted after the New Year I received an email from an applicant! We are scheduled to meet this week. She already owns a 14 year old Papillon so the two (our guy being the laid back lazy couch potato that he is) are going to get along perfect.

Here is a picture of him freshly bathed with his newly washed favorite blankey all ready for his new owners:

He will be my 4th successful foster! =D

I AM GETTING A KITTEN I AM GETTING A KITTEN I AM GETTING A KITTEN!!!

I've wanted one my entire life but through my childhood my mother was allergic and now my boyfriend is allergic and doesn't generally like cats. I posted about a tramatic incident at work involving a cat that I was going to bring home but he died. A coworker happened to mention that he needed to get rid of kittens and I asked what kind. He was supposed to send me a picture for like a week before I asked him if he could just have his GF bring the entire litter for me to see after work.

I have 2 picked out that I haven't been able to decide on. A grey one with a white nose and mouth and white paws or a dark grey one with whiteish/grey hairs on the back and a black head and tail (he's the runt). When I got into the car today I immediately told my boyfriend to smell my hand and he did and after 30 minutes passed me said he didn't feel any allergy symptoms.

Anyone have advice on introducing a kitten to a dog (multi-dog) household? I want them to be friends so I want to do it right.

Yay! Kitties are the best :D They also have a way of promoting healing just by purring (not just a myth, it's been scientifically proven)

Introducing cats to dogs is pretty easy if they're both babies or if the cat is a kitten while the dog may be older. As long as the dog has a gentle nature they should be fine if the kitten grows up with it around all the time. Just take it slow and keep an eye on both of them for the first few days.

I immediately told my boyfriend to smell my hand and he did and after 30 minutes passed me said he didn't feel any allergy symptoms.

Be wary, he may be allergic to cats but not just from the fur and dander. The oils on their skin can cause pretty severe reactions in some people too.

Aw I didn't know that about the oils :(. I sure hope he's not allergic. He's always said he's allergic to cats but then we moved in with a roommate who owned a cat and he wasn't allergic to that one. We asssumed he's allergic to come cats and not others. If that's the case I hope he's not allergic to the one I bring home!

I was thinking about putting the kitten in a crate (the kitten will be 8 weeks old when we are able to take her home in a month) I have a huge crate made for a st bernard so I'd put his litter and food in there and just let him chill in there in our room with the dogs on the outside for a week and then crate the dogs while I let him explore. Since my boyfriend isn't really thrilled with the idea of a cat I told him we'd keep him outside unless he isn't allergic and leave him outside at night to hunt and hopefully he'd sleep during the day and by the time I got home from work I could bring him inside for a few hours to cuddle.

I bought a 5'x4' metal shed to put outside the house and I bought this to put inside it. That's where I'll keep his food too. I'm going to install a doggy door on it. But we're hopefully going to keep him inside the crate for the first week then take another week of letting him explore and then hopefully the two species will be okay with eachother. When he's outside for his first couple months I think I'm going to take this spare 8'x8' chain link fence that we have folded up behind our shed and set it up with the kitty shed and put a tarp or something over the top to keep him from escaping so he can get used to where he lives and gets fed before I give him free roam. I don't want my kitty to run away D:!

My dogs are pretty even tempered with the exception of my oldest female but she still listens if I sound serious enough. They are small also (Papillons) so hopefully the kitten won't be too intimidated by them. I have a 13lb female, a 10lb male and a 5 month old puppy. The puppy and the male are going to be fine but I'm not sure about the female. My boyfriend recently got a rabbit and the other two ignore the boring rabbit but our female cannot ignore it she is constantly trying to attack it. Hopefully a kitten seems like less of a prey animal than a rabbit. They hiss at dogs, right?

We have a puppy who's 5 months and she's so lovable I think she might be the first to bond with the kitten. My boyfriend got a new rabbit and the puppy loves to gently lick inside his ears and clean his face. The other 2 stare at the rabbit like wolves.

But here are pictures of the entire litter:

I think I want either the first or 2nd one. I haven't decided yet!

It sounds like the puppy will be fine with the kitten and the older male will take some getting used to it, the only thing to keep an eye on would be the older female. The kitten won't hiss at them because it'll still be confused about what they are (which is why it's perfect to get younger animals to coexist). But if any of them get too rough the cat will let them know and it will (hopefully) instil a fear of it into the dogs and gain dominance.

Be sure to get them microchipped and de-sexed for your own piece of mind if it does go missing (some microchips have GPS tracking in them too) and for the good of the community (in season females are the worst to have to deal with over a long period).

They all look gorgeous :D

Yep I'm definitely getting the cat desexed ASAP (I'm hoping sooner since I think males can be done a lot sooner and I have to take the puppy within the next 3 months). I am hoping one of them is a male I wanted a male since I head they are cuddlier and since a male can be neutered as early as 2-3 months old. Females you have to wait until they're attest 6 months old I believe. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

We have rabbits and the male and the puppy will sniff it for a few seconds and then get bored with it the female will not get used to the rabbits and it's been 3 months. She will stare licking her lips with her entire body stiff. I am hoping she will be able to smell the difference that a cat isn't a prey animal. Otherwise we'll just have to supervise them. We have the rabbits pen (we just got a huge one) in our back porch area and every time she goes outside she runs to it. I have used the shock collar on her once in the past when she was about 1 to teach her not to run off when we were on the beach. I was thinking I'd give her the command (which she knows) to leave the bunnies and when she doesn't she'll get the correction. Hopefully if it works with the bunnies (which we need to work on anyways) it'll work for telling her to leave the new kitten.

I've got a giant alaskan malamute who's 15 months old. She's great. I love her so much. <3

model she is beautiful.... growing up my family had an alaskan malatmute.... she ended up getting a lil overweight and weighed around 150 lbs when she was older but she still lived to be 13..... they are amazing dogs

Thanks :) Mine's a giant malamute, so she's already about 115 but still growing. She's very lean and fit, too, cause I bike with her. She's a big girl. I am really careful with food so she doesn't get overweight. It's such a killer in large breeds.

My two beautiful and sweet (but a little hyperactive) border collies. :)

My adorable girl!

Lovely pair of dogs PilltoChill, and love Border Collies too Stardust. Mam had a cross, we never did work out what with, rescue dog. Was a good bit bigger than a pure Collie but behaved just like one with the stalking, rounding up and just lying down alert and watchful waiting to see what you wanted from him or what you might have for playtime for him. Would have made a great working dog, could run him ragged for miles and he'd still be up for more soon as you got him home wanting back out. Absolutely nuts, big daft tongue lolling out the side of his smiley mouth just like yours in the last pic PilltoChill, lot of barley fields near Mam's he'd just bound through like he had springs in his feet, disappearing down into the barley then soaring back out all graceful like a dolphin breaking out the water or a ski jumper holding the pose to catch some more air. Damn, I still miss that dog 10, maybe 15 years on now since we lost him.
