Harm Reduction Tapering Plan Mega thread - community project

im surprised the suboxone didnt work for you. i found the suboxone to be a much more efficient drug to help ween off of the harder shit. in all honesty i do like the dones much more because of the "high" it gives, but for your situation i might give suboxone another try if the dones dont work. i agree with the others tho, tapering down is definately the best way to do it, and yes you will still feel like shit after its gone, but do ANYTHING to keep yourself from turnin back to the darkside!!! its mind over matter bro! good luck and stay healthy!

my Problem is that it is liquid so i divided it into 5 doses................6 actually so thats about 20 mg each but its pretty impossible to measure. if it was pills i could know i was taking 5 ,10 , or 20 mg

Get an oral syringe or something and find out how many ml of solution you have. With that it'd be easy to figure out the exact dosing.

Ekk. That can be difficult. Is the solution that is diluted methadone, or is it disolved tablets? If you unluckily have the dissolved tablets, then you are going to have to make sure you shake up the solution or stir it fast as you are making out your dosages.

Otherwise, like DR PEPPER said, get yourself an oral syringe and measure out the precise dosages. You can get these free from any Target pharmacy or they sell them over the counter at most drugs stores (to administer medications to kids.)

But goodluck to you. Make sure you got yourself some other meds to help you with the w/d symptoms. Everytime i kick i try to have:
1) methadone
2) sedative/anti-anxiety (xanax, valium, klonipin, ativan, etc.)
3) immodium - for the runs/ loose stool
4) tums/rolaids - to help with upset stomach
5) Benedyl - to aid with sedation and so you dont have to take too many benzo's

Good luck! and if you smoke pot, that helps tremendously with keeping ur mind off cravings.

i have klonopin . well all i did really was pour 6 doses into 6 jars so each one is about 20 mg and take about one a day but im trying to leave the smallest for last. so today i needed a little extra so i took out of one and will use that one the last day i kick

Slipped...again

I was almost ready to drop from 20mg a day to 15mg a day. I know the end is near. I have no other option but to quit. I took my 5mg pill in the morning and afternoon but then I just wanted to feel the buzz I havent felt for so long. It has been a 2 and a half month taper from 160mg a day of oxy ir. I havent got high when I take my tapered dose, just prevents me from getting sick. So instead of taking 5mg I snorted 10 mg. Then I snorted another 10mg just now. I want to quit so bad. So I basically took 10mg more than I have been taking today. How bad do you think this will set me back on my taper? I have been at 20 mg a day for about a week and a half. Stupid. I know better not to treat myself. I have just went through some crazy wd's and hope this doesnt set me back. I am going right back to 5mg 4x a day tommorow.

It shouldn't set you back too much at all, just take what you have to take today, and if you feel any w/d trying to kick in get some loperamides/tylenol whatever but don't give in. You are almost there man....I kicked a hydrocodone/morphine 5 year habit and I feel good again(it has been 2 months)....you can make it!!!

I'm on a taper to where my doctor prescribed me oxycontin I've been on my 20 mg taper for 27 days now (3 to go :( ) and the past 6 days i've been in the same boat as you have. Did over 120-150 mg everyday for the six days and it set me back alot. I went from having minimal withdrawals to bad withdrawals again. So I know how you feel, your not the only going through the struggle! lol. But anyways 10 mg is definately not enough to set you back and if you do feel slight withdrawal if any at all its probably placebo effect IMO.

BTW, do you have clonidine it's helped me out TONS, if not i recommend you ask your doctor for some.

I have clonodine, phenigran, clonazepam, temazepam, and hydroxyzine. I know this sounds cliche but it is good to know I am not the only one. It is funny all the cliche stuff i heard before I was an addict, is spot on. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, I have been so tired I cant sleep, and I have felt like I was crawling through my skin. I haven't had any restlessness since I stopped abruptly with a 100mcg fentanyl patch. It has mostly been stomach issues and depression. FYI, for me hydroxyzine has been the most effective thing so far for sleep. It is a antihistamine, but for me it works better for sleep then klonopin and temazepam combined. What really bothers me about yesterday is that I wasnt even having any wd's, I just wanted to get high. So far so good today though. Thanks for your comments!

If I was you I would just jump already, you just prolonging the inevitable. Oxycodone is not an ideal opiate to do a taper with, it's just too short acting. The withdrawal from jumping from 20mg or 5mg is not gonna make much of a difference in the severity of the withdrawals. You have some good meds to make you atleast somewhat comfortable. I have a feeling your just not ready to quit.

sounds like if you dose properly to your taper plan tomo, or do today again tomo... that you will be fine...........

Taking the jump

I have tapered a 160mg a day oxy ir habit to 20-25 mg a day over a couple months. I am ready to drop em all together. I am under docs supervision and I am going to the docs in 2 days. A couple questions: I have clonodine, phenigran, hydroxyine, temazepam, and clonazepam. Is it true that seriquel will help and what kind of effects does it have and can you quit taking it without problems? My doc is pretty humane and wants this to be as comfortable as possible, so is there any other RX that will help me when I stop completely? OTC I have nyquill and immodium. Any OTC that I should pick up? Any kind of foods or vitamins that will help? The WD that I cant stand is the crawling in your skin feeling and not being able to stay still. I took a 100mcg fentanyl patch off without tapering and nothing I had even remotely helped. If I can just minimize the crazy feeling of being so tired I cant sleep cause of the restlessness. I know I will have some discomfort and some depression after the detox but anything that would help me sleep that I didnt list would be appreciated. And I am really curious about the seriquel because I have read some good things about it and the more I can sleep or at least lay still the better. This time next week I should be through the physical stuff. I cant wait to get my life back!

Why not just go slower? That or do a quick bupe taper. I found wearing fentanyl patches amazing for transitioning off opioids due to the super slow release and long action.

what about suboxin? Man that is the best thing ever invented. makes you feel completly normal...

Withdrawal is going to be withdrawal no matter what. If you had the disipline to make it this far in tapering then I think you got what it takes to do a CT detox with the comfort meds listed.

When I want to be clean more than continue using I did a CT detox with no comfort meds but the naseua, RLS, sleeplessness, depression, and anxiety were hell.

Vitamins never hurt to add to your list along with minerals.

I know if you made it this far you can make it the rest of the way.

There is no soft easy way to do this. It's just a matter of doing it.

Sd far as a bupe/suboxone taper, they don't work from my experience and most other peoples from what I have read. Stick with the plan you and the doc laid out. And for the benefit of others let us know your progress be it good or bad it will be of a benefit.

temazepam and clonazepams work well but if ya get addicted i find i cant go barely a day without my clones the temazepas i can live without though they work great for sleep ,but as far as seroquel yes they do work very well for most to sleep and i have had absolutle no problems stopping taking them i infact miss doses regularly i find that if i have enough clones and restoril im just fine...
Problem with seroquel is most docs or shrinks dont ussualy givem for sleep im bipolar etc but actually was given them by my first shrink for sleep as i also have chronic insomnia,so i guess if you can get them they may help, just not as much as clones and restoril,..
