Sydney rave scene, where'd it go?

If i was an oldschool raver, i would of had to of started around 12 yrs of age rofl, -sigh- If only i was born earlier. Lookin forward to gettin a car n headin out to some doofs tho. The raves I used to go to were "underground" and call on the night. But I wouldnt call em underground, everyone knew of em n the number to call was everywhere. True undergrounds are the one where they use boltcutters ;)

haha that is so true

Where did that scene go?

Look over there man... it has passed you by!

Yes sir! Buh-bye rave train. And I am glad that I've gotten over the rave scene here. Nowadays, I'd rather enjoy some beer and good food at the local coffee shop with a few close friends.

the sydney rave scene got old.

it grew up.

found itself a job.

found there was more to life.

i hear it still looks back in fond days of how it used to be, occasionally wondering what happened & if it can make a return.

much like those who used to go...

I stopped worrying about 'omg the scene is dying' back when I read an article from some dude who used to go clubbing in the late 80's, bitching because 'all these new 'raver' kids with their glowsticks and reflective, who don't care about the atmosphere or the music in clubs but are just there to get fucked up' killed the club scene.

It's not the scene that changes, it's you.

Thats why you leave for these things preferably during daylight hours

Or have someone who has a good sense of direction in the car.

Is trance apart of the 'rave' scene?
House & Electro fans would say yes, Hardstyle fans would say no.

Softer trance definitely isn't imo, hard trance is but it's dying out amongst all the hardstyle.

I don't consider Above & Beyond to be rave but my mate who's a big electro nut considers them too 'hard' for him to dance to, or the beat's too fast or some shit like that.

Yeah I agree with that logic entirely. Have been both in the past, and would have agreed if you had asked me at either stage. Now though, I love trance. Its so awesome I could die for it.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but for a lot of people it comes down to perception of what constitutes 'hard' dance music. Most of the commercial house and electro lovers see trance as trashy rave music when in reality these days 90% of the stuff played at raves is hardstyle. So ravers wouldn't say that trance is a part of the rave scene anymore. God I wish it was though. To have sets of uplifting trance in amongst some of the heavier stuff would be brilliant.
