Syd - Field Day 2005 - NYD - The Domain - REVIEWS

zabiela was my music appreciation for the day :)

amazing... much better track selection (for me anyways) than the other times i've seen him, and his skills get better and better everytime!

all the other acts were pretty crap for me, but i had a great day anyways

Do any of you guys think that a lot of people who go to Field Day aren't the kind of people that you normally see at these types of events (albeit those on a smaller scale)?

I say this because I got the sense that a fair few people at the event were not interested in meeting strangers 'whilst trashed', as papermate put it. You'd say G'day, maybe compliment them on their great accessories (I saw a bloke with some Amber sunnies about two feet wide, they were great), and mostly people just aren't interested. If anything, they make an effort to look like you've actually made their day worse.

Of course, not everyone was like this. I did meet about three or four groups who were great, especially some poppers/lockers and one couple who brought glowsticks (Are they like, unfashionable or something? They're the only people I've seen with them in Sydney, apart from Sublime @ Horden, but that was only because people were handing them out. Back in Perth you're normally blinded by the chemical glow).

Maybe the whole scene's different in Sydney compared to Perth? You guys don't seem to have heard of Medic or Vicks Inhaler over here. I got the oddest looks when I offered it around...

De La Soul: :|
Martin Solveig: =D

I think it's quite a common occurance for Fuzzy events to attract "he-men" and the rest of the poser crowd!

bump into someone and say "oh sorry mate" anywhere else and you'll get a reply of

"dont worry about it mate, are ya having a good night, take care!" etc

but it seems to get the opposite reply if you happen to do it at Field Day!

Field Day was pretty good from what i got to see (or hear) of it as i worked for 15 hours. I thought Tiga was great. Best set i heard all day/night on the main stage. Would have liked to have seen Plump DJs but couldn't get over the the breaks stage. oh well!!

Hey Ecks...are you talking about heating the vicks inhaler and sniffing it???

Was Tiga playing fairly early on? Was looking forward to hearing him for the first time, heard some good things about him.

Mainly inhaling, I only heat it up if it's getting a bit old and starting to lose it's power/run out. Medic would be better, but it's a bit hard to sneak a can in with metal detectors... Well, at least someone in Sydney knows what I'm talking about :)

lee & andy played their official Field Day theme song - I feel love by Donna Summer. Other than that I couldn't tell you what they were playing - i was too busy drooling at the boys to actually listen to them!

Tiga played from 7.30 - he for me was the standout! It's so good to see good electro/acid/techno on a mainstage for a change, instead of fluffy house and breaks

Had a wikked day, cept for the fact that i kept falling down... :S

Ecks, Medic and Vicks tend to be associated with Raves in SYD as opposed to breaks events such as Field Day.
FD is all about the posing and struting and showing off.
Take medic/vicks to a rave and you'll find most people will know what your talking about. :)

Well I got to see all of James Zabiela set unlike the night before at Space where I missed the first half cause I thought was on after Adam Freeland. I have no constructive comments to make about Adam Freeland live.

A good day in all. :)
