***Supplements & Herbs Questions and Answers***

This is not a reply to any posts but a quick note about taking piracetam. Despite the reccommendation I received to not take piracetam, I took it yesterday and today. I don't know if this is unrelated or a placebo or what but I have noticed things. Today especially I have found my cognitive function to alot clearer. I feel rational, analytical, and my memory is solid, and all my thoughts feel clear and structured. However, I also feel rather flat and emotionless. I was watching various different stand up comedians who I usually enjoy, as well as different music and I just didn't enjoy it. I felt uninspired, and completely lacking in creativity and imagination. Is this legit?

iirc, piracetam doesn't work the 1st day, it needs to be loaded or taken for a short while b4 it starts working
(even if it was working, it'd have to be a goddamned miracle-drug to turn you from

I feel as though I've done some serious damage to it. Right now I can't think straight, I've got some serious 'brain fog', my short term memory has gone to absolute shit. I can't concentrate, and I can't work out complex (or sometimes simple) problems.

in about a day.. tbh, and don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like you're way over-analyzing your mental state. out of curiousity, what general types of 'mental stimulation' are part of your life? (eg. school, work, sports, whatever)

Merged rz514's thread with mega which kind of messed up the flow of conversation... Oh well. Sorry folks!

Rz514, check out the first post in this mega thread as there are numerous threads on supplements in addition to this one. Welcome to BL. :)

whoa it took me a bit to figure out what just happened. LOL.. i was wondering why my bookmark was leading me to another thread! :D

thanks!

the only ones of those that have any quasi-solid evidence behind them are the green tea, ginkgo, and possibly rhodiola (*none* of them would affect, say, the average american as much as even the fish oils! unless we're counting the caffeine's speediness from the gt extract)
/tribulus is incredibly bunk, i actually wrote a long, scathing piece on it for a bodybuilding board. will try to find it, and elaborate more on your choices, if you come back ;P (nothing personal, just h8 going in depth only to find the person never returned!)
((edit- since my reply doesn't leave anything good in your 'sexual' stack, i'll recommend you check out yohimbine, which is the active alkaloid from yohimbe bark. it's extremely potent compared to the other stuff you listed, so plz read up on it <or ask for more info here!> before taking it!))

Really? When you mean solid evidence... are you talking about strictly scientific research evidence?.. I am asking this because all of the supps i mentionned were talked about in numerous threads, in another forum (longecity) that got me started on herbal supps, a lot of people talk about the supps i mentionned with more or less results, but definitly results if taken properly. Especially Maca, there are many users reporting good effects from it.

I will research on Yohimbine, it came up a few times though i decided not to look into it, if i remember well because of the side-effects? Have you taken Yohimbine? any comments on the side effects and benefits? dosage... etc.

Is there something you can recommend for lifting a "heavy mood" to light\happy and increase in overall energy? or should i stick with the rhodolia? is Rhodolia a good choice in your opinion?

Why would you want to decrease sensitivity? Learn to control it. I don't have a penis but... Wouldn't decreasing sensitivity decrease pleasure?

I have really high senses in general! I'm not just talking about physical sensation, but also sound, light (to some degree), smell, and energy.. It is no condition, but rather characteristics of mine that help me in my work :)

I don't know how sensitive are other guys and that would be impossible to know or talk about since it's a feeling :) but in my case, my sensitivity is quite high and the pleasure is perhaps TOO much lol, decreasing it a little in my case would bring it to normal\good, rather than too much!

What do you work as? Do you work as a hallucination in LSD trips?

I'm a full time uni student but since this thing with my brain I haven't done any work. I've got 3x 2500 word essays to write in the next 2 weeks so that should be interesting to say the least. As for the piracetam- I woke up with all the clear effects gone. I'm going to keep taking it, because I honestly feel like what I experienced was related to it.

So if im using supplements to treat anxiety/depression, should i take em every day or what?

right now i was thinking:
500-1000mg of tyrosine daily
100mg 5HTP once every few days
fish oils-maybe?

(i refuse to use pharms.)

sorry so long, i hope you're still checking this thread ;P

yeah, i meant actual, scientific evidence. i worked with supplements for far too long to still give much/any weight to users' anecdotal reports (trust me - EVERY supplement has people who'll swear it works. i wait for unbiased, real evidence)

yohimbine is gonna be one of the best OTC 'sex booster' type products. definitely look into it. it could be dangerous if you took too much, or if you took yohimbe bark to get the yohimbine (there's likely to be MAOI's in the bark - if you just get the pure yohimbine hcl then you eliminate most/all maoi's). don't take more than 9mg of yohimbine in a day, and don't take it near sleep. it's pretty cheap, so i'd definitely try it if you haven't.

re tribulus, plz don't waste your time or money on the stuff, it is 100% BUNK. one of the more notorious supplement rip-offs, right up there w/ the breast-enhancement herbal pills ;PP

fish oils are the most effective from what i've seen (as far as actual research is concerned).
what caused the anx/dep.?
why no pharms?

^eh shit went down with the fam, its the neverending story :D
but i cant really fix the problem until i graduate HS so im just lookin for stuff to mask the feelings (as sad as that sounds, its the best i can do)

and i tried SSRI's. they were alright, but i couldnt stand the side effects. then the psych recommended wellbutrin but my parents flipped a bitch when i told em i tapered SSRI's on my own, and now they dont want me having any antidepressants.

okay, i getcha ;P
honestly, based on the situation i think pharms/recreational drugs are the only way to mask those feelings (not recommending, necessarily, that course of action; but otc stuff isn't gonna do much for you in this regard :/)

^its all good

ill see if i can get my parents to get me another psych appointment (i already told em i was done with therapy after i quit the ssri's)

maybe ill just start smoking weed on occasion:D
doesnt it help with depression? i know it gets rid of my anxiety. i love it.

if it works for you, then by all means - i just don't suggest it to people because it exacerbates those feelings in me (it's not that i dislike pot, it's just that it - along w/ most rec.drugs - will make any psych things worse for me, so i have to be cautious)

yeah i know what you mean.
i think ill just try working out more and eating healthier.
maybe ill start occasionally taking 5HTP or st. johns wort.

SJW is a godsend if you get the right brand.

SJW or 5HTP?

5htp has its' risks.
and if you use it for 5+ days it begins to mess with dopamine levels.
and if you take it for prolonged periods of time it downregulates 5ht receptors.

SJW only has a few side effects (photosensitivity, slight anxiety)
and i (a male) dont plan on going on birth control hahahah :\
