Immunoglobulin Supplements.

Hey everyone! Earlier tonight I stumbled upon an interesting supplement while browsing through an on-line shop's catalog; Bovine-sourced Immunoglobulin. I have no idea what the facts are, but it's claimed to be very effective for boosting our immune systems. I did a bit of searching to hopefully find out some facts, but I honestly couldn't find what I was looking for. There were a few warnings about taking it as well; such as the lack of bioavailablity and apparent, but unspecified dangers of taking these type of supplements. I'd simply just list the product if I was aware that I was not breaking any rules, but here's a few specifics that may be of importance.

"X is collected and processed within 12 hours of calving from American pasture cows. A higher quality colostrum is extracted from temperate-climate cattle, as severe temperatures induce higher immune factor production."

"X contains minimum 30% immunoglobulins G (IgG), which is double the strength of typical Colostrum products."

Anyone have any experience or info on this concept?

^ Merged with mega.

I'd be very hesitant to put anything sourced from American cattle in my body.

Haha, I'm with you on that one! Really, it's just another molecule if you try to look at it like that. I can get over the stigma, especially since I believe they get it from the milk (within 12 hours of birth) and filter the Lactose out. I'm still curious if we even absorb this stuff through ingestion, because I sure as hell am not injecting it...

It's definitely effective...if you're a newborn, and are taking it in significant quantities via breastmilk.
I'm curious if there's a particular reason they market cow-colostrum, like if it's better than other sources, or if it's just cuz cow's milk is the most plentiful.

Mmm, yeah... I'm stumped. All of the supplements seem to be Bovine-sourced; whether this be due to availability/cost or effectiveness is an important factor. The critical question of whether or not matured human beings will benefit from the edible form is still 'on the table', so to speak. I've been particularly sick lately, which has made me quite intrigued as to these supplements.

It's not really on the table...generally-speaking, it doesn't hold a candle to modern 'wellness' improvements such as generic immunizations/foods.
Whatever you're sick with can be addressed with something substantiated, this stuff's been around as a supplement for a looong time and has virtually zero evidence of efficacy, regardless of how the advertisements try to spin it.

Magnesium?

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on using a magnesium supplement (specifically for Adderall use)? Is one kind better than the others? I keep seeing "chelated magnesium." Is that the best?

Thank you for the input, although it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Since no one else has offered an alternative opinion, I'm just going to skip past this supplement and look for something more thoroughly proven to be effective. I did read that if taken intravenously, it works well, but that's an immediate taboo for me.

IME use any kind other than magnesium oxide, it has the worst bioavailability which led to it not doing anything about my adderall tolerance or twitching:| magnesium citrate is a little more expensive but it gets the job done, i dont know if it was placebo or what but i would always feel sedated (maybe because its a muscle relaxant) after i took some.

Magnesium Taurate is supposedly the best for amphetamine use, theres a thread in ADD about it.

Anyone got any recommendations on a supplement to help improve neurotransmitter function?
i was thinking maybe Mucuna pruriens? i already take a legit multivitamin and ive tried tons of different supplements but nothing seems to be helping much.

seems like every day i wake up and feel more depressed/anxious/discontent, i think im suffering from PTSD. my drug use is moderate i guess (adderall once every 2 weeks, ecstasy once a month) i do cardio 3-4x a week and im pretttyy good about my diet, im in the process of cleaning it up :\ any advice is appreciated :)

^ Your main problem is trembling? B12 and lay off the amphetamine maybe?

Yes chelated forms are more bioavailable and better...these include Orotate, Taurate and Citrate amongst others but these are the most common (and best IMO) chelated forms.

It is readily absorbed via the skin, so feel free to bath in Epsom Salts (mag sulph) aswell for a skin-softening, toning effect . Anywhere between 350-800mg is recommended a day....any more than this will require to you stock up on toilet roll.

Use half a gram, on an empty stomach, preferrably with calcium (1 part mag and 2 parts cal). Vit C also aids absorption. A good quality Magnesium supplement will potentially make you feel relaxed, with relaxed muscles and the need for a shit, though these effects dont apply to everyone. Avoid pills.

rhodiola rosea

YO!!!

Has anyone taken Rhodioloa Rosea before? Lately i've just been taking fish oil and multi-vitamins. I was hoping adding to this to my regime would give me more energy during the day. I also read that it promotes a healthy response to stress. Opinions?

I personally have never tried it. However, if it's not very expensive, it's worth a try to see if it'll help you have more energy.

In second, I note that if you're eating a diet rich in whole, natural foods, that'll help spike up your energy levels, also.

I've grown alot more dependent on food then I used to be. I need 3 good sized meals through the day to be satisfied.

I eat alot of chicken and greens. Anything else you would suggest?
