***Supplements & Herbs Questions and Answers***

At a certain point I think it's appropriate to move questions to the the mega thread, but right off the back just throwing them in here....they often just get ignored and overlooked.

I think it defeats the purpose of being a good source for answers.

Does anyone know much about the interaction between ginseng and oxycodone? I have read a few things saying Morphine analgesia was redcued when taken with ginseng, I'm just wondering if it truely mean analgesia or just sedation..

I used to take a fair bit of ginseng years ago before using oxycodone for chronic pain, and the ginseng made me feel quite full of energy and extremely sharp, a kind of relaed clarity of mind. I would like to take it again but am concerned it could make the oxycontin lose its efficacy in treating my neck pain. If analgesia is reduced I probably wouldnt take it, but if it was jst sedation that was reduced I would love to take it again, also hoping it could counteract some of the endocrine effects I have heard come with use of oxycodone/opiates in general (thankfuly have not experienced these yet, maybe because weightlifting was taken up at the same time as oxyc. I have read some things stating ginseng can promote release of growth hormone, which would be great, but again i would need to do more reading.

So, does anyone know the interaction between ginseng and opiates/oxycodone in partcular?
And the mechanism of said actions? Eg. is it just an enzyme thing or something else?
