***Supplements & Herbs Questions and Answers***

I found a source for an extract standardized to 15% rosavins and I have definitely felt it helping me in the past. Sharper mental acuity during prolonged exercise & just able to take that little extra out of the tank. You can't take it indefinitely though, it has to be cycled.

Best mulitvitamin to take?

I'm looking to start taking a militvitamin daily. Whats the best multivitamin to take? Most reviews I've seen say Centrum Silver.

Are you looking for quality ingredients or for how much % RDA is in each pill so you take fewer pills? Big difference there. I don't know anything about Centrum aside from that it's a huge brand name, meaning that its ingredients are probably not from the best sources.

quoting, are you a male or female? How old are you? What areas of your physical and mental health are you wanting to treat or enhance with vitamins?

I am a 29 year old female who takes Blackmores Pregancy Gold every day (no I'm not pregnant) for hair, skin and nail health. Although I strongly recommend this brand you probably have completely different requirements to me. :)

Yeah, I started using it 2 weeks ago and its BRILLIANT. This is the first OTC supplement I have taken that actually works on me. Its an adaptogen so I think it works best on people who have neurochemical imbalances. In my case it literally puts me in an altered state. Puts me in this kind of warm happy state that reminds me of how it was when I was a kid. On the bus home today, instead of sitting in a zombified state, oblivious to my surroundings for the whole bus journey like I used to do, I was enjoying looking at the scenery around me and felt positive feelings looking at the terrain. People always talk about enjoying scenery and stuff like that but I never had any idea what they meant. Maybe I'm actually depressed and just don't know it.

Finally back in the healthy life...almost

So where do I begin? Some of oyu may know my past some of you may not. Basically...I've done opiates for 5 years now. 2 years IVing. Mostly oxycodone and heroin. I am lucky that I have naturally big mass. Big chest, big arms. Befor I went on my little...spree...I worked out like crazy and got my piceps, tris, lats, delts, and pecks in REALY good shape. OFc most of the stregnth isgone but the shape is still mostly there.

SO

Now that I am off the needle, and only taking 2mg of sub per day I wanna get back into weight training. What nutes and supplements are good to help promote healthy brain function (deffinedly going too need that) and healthy muscles as well? Obsly protien but what else? Thanks <3

Snorting Vit B12 / Appiperite stimulents

Ok dual thread - first off I have not been eating as much as I should I weight fine 11 and 1/2 stone (forget hight 5.x sumit) but I'm in an ok range however I have had problems with stimulent use which I am trying to address. (gunna take what concerta I have to another place far away). I am trying to stick with Nooptropics (*racetams, choline, etc) Naturally it has it's problems.

Now I hear from people Vit b12 is very good and years back in hospital (forget exactly as it was due to OD even felt a dream) but I was injected with it and I remember they said I was deficient. (this may of been GBL use, similer to alcohol/solventyness). I'm progressing and trying to improve overall health I do enough cardio - more than avg but I wanna get back into weight lifting - I will fix my mind first though.

Ok so what's with snorting b12? I hear companies claiming we don't have enough b12 and alot will be defisent. They then sell a nasal spray of b12 (no idea on price but probably alot more than it's worth) - they claim oral b12 is pointless and IV and nasal is the only way? Is this true?? if so - what about buying b12 pills and "snorting them" that way it's nasal too but match the mg with the spray or even make your own I think I have heard. IVing is out of the qestion unless it was ampule.

Next Q: I see in shops and EVERYWHERE herbs and drugs that will KILL the urge to eat and alot/some do work but there's 100's of products everywhere it's a $1m industry. Now I am the oppersite I wish to gain weight I try eating more and as much as I can and as often - healthy foods I try too and ontop a XTREME GAIN or meal replace thing. and half a scoop of protein (no point in much as I aint weight lifting yet). However - I not see anything to weight gain (apart from +cal/shakes) - but not many herbs or drugs to do this? I am open to legal, herbal, non-herbal, non-drug. Sorry as I know this question may step over the lines of healthy living.

So far reading through anti-depressents do this and my doc is putting me on which I don't want but hear mirtazapine to be very good. I don't smoke weed though as I hear is good. Another option is a mild steroid one thats more aimed at EAT EAT. Aren't there much when you take you go BANG EAT EAT something that messes with that part of you and turns on hunger?

Although my weight is "fine" I would love to gain weight (I have low bodyfat so I look less). I feel 8stone or something, sorta like an anarexic but the oppersite way. (ie, instead of seeing fat person seeing thin)

It's only true if you are lacking intrinsic factor. As far as your "if so", supplement pills are meant from your mouth/stomach, not for your nose. 8)

In order to gain weight, you need to eat more. However, stop and listen to your body. What makes you so uncomfortable at 11.5 stone? How tall are you? Is there anything you can do about your mentality instead of your body first? Is it really such a bad thing?

165 pounds seems relatively healthy for any height under 6'.

Also, don't snort any B12 pills. I don't know what people are telling you, but nutrition belongs in your stomach.

Is there any way you can do this now that you've come away from drugs?

creatine is good for working out/exercising - don't go for any other supplements on that front, apart from using ginseng and garlic and ginger for circulation and digestion goodness.

When it comes to the brain the only thing I can think of iiiiiiiis Ginkgo Biloba.

ALso - look up isometrics on youtube, and google "the black monks precious set of isometrics" - there's 2 pages, and you can build your strange back up nice and gradually (but they're VERY effective and fast acting too), while doing whatever other exercise you want. I would suggest finding out what your mind-body type is first so you can work out what kind of exercise is best for your constitution. Google "ayurvedic prakriti test".

I would just like to gain weight really. What product/supps would be recommended from a somewhere like myprotein.com?

The B12 bussiness is about the sale of all the nasal sprays they claim oral is usseles.

Magnesium Issues

Ok, first thing first...I was looking into magnesium in hopes of benefitting from it due to my issues with stress and anxiety.

I bought one brand and its made by soloray- "This Magnesium Asporotate formula consists of three different forms of Magnesium: Magnesium Aspartate, Magnesium Citrate and Magnesium Orotate. Aspartic Acid, Citric Acid and Orotic Acid have been combined for natural chelation. "

I hear that Magnesium Aspartate may be neurotoxic and this makes me question even taking it...also wonder what the percentages are but was told they don't know...it wouldn't be so beneficial if it was just mostly magnesium oxide which also is another ingredient in the blend.

Then I bought another brands, these pills are to big for me to even swallow(note these are not gel caps).

Any help in the right direction would be much appreciated.

taking supplements that are past their best before date

is it ok to take supplements that are past their best before date?

I have some vitamin B6 but it went out of date in 2009, will it still be ok to take?

cheers,

Most likely won't cause any harm. I took expired D2 vitamins for awhile with no ill repercussions. YMMV.

Yet again, merging with mega thread.

Shortly before I stepped down, I debated nixing this whole thread--No one reads it. 8)
