SuperBowl: New York Football Giants VS New England Patriots

let me just say that Bellicheck's call to go for it was one of the worst executive decisions in a SuperBowl that I have ever witnessed. who knows if the kicker could have made it from that distance.

thats quite an overstatement. i think that the 2nd sentence above illustrates why the decision wasnt that crazy... it's not as if you know who is still kicking for the new england

i was pretty disappointed with the result of the game. partly bc i wanted to see the pats go wire to wire, and partly bc i think the giants are a really average team that just got hot at the right time. thats awesome if you're ny fan, but not for the rest of us. thats the best team in the nfl this year? ok i guess :\

btw, my roommate who is hails from dorchester ma. (which apparently is a real shithole) has not been seen since the game.... thanks eli

not that it matters too much, but the NFC beat the AFC in the pro bowl, also.

and as for the "got hot at the right time" versus "best team" argument... give it a rest. they lost by 3 to the patriots the first time, and won by 3 the second time. both times well within the margin for a lucky break in either direction.

the patriots played a lot of close games in the second half of the season which they realistically could have won or lost. not to say they weren't a damn good team, but they were not some insurmountable juggernaut.

and further, the g-men delayed coming to arizona so they could get extra practice in the privacy of the meadowlands. i wonder why they would ever have to do that?

andy, in any sporting event decided by a single final game, getting hot at exactly the right moment is going to win and create a situation where a team may not have demonstrated all season long that they are 'the best team in football' but that doesn't matter - they won the only game that counts. while i'm not suggesting that football adopt a 7-game play off, i think there's never any doubt in a baseball fan's mind that the world series champion truly 'deserves' (for want of a better word) the title.

props for the follow through. good to know you're honorable about bets, it'll make baseball season more interesting ;)

All I know is this: it was a stunning advertisement for American football to the relatively uninitiated (i.e. me).

Too often I've watched American football in the past & been left cold, but that was a really stunning climax. In the end I just got the sense that the enormous weight of expectation weighed a little too heavy on the Patriot's shoulders - Brady looked well & truly rattled by the Giant's defense, which was superb throughout.

Awesome game. :)

I'm surprised no one is talking about that play where the giant's receiver blatantly face masked the defender, but didn't get called on it.

I fell asleep at about 2am :(
I enjoyed what I saw, even though I didn't understand a lot of it.
I'd make a mean quarter-back.. throwing wise anyway.. But I'm too skinny
