SuperBowl: New York Football Giants VS New England Patriots

:(

We were outplayed...simple as that. Our offensive line was terrible and Brady just wasnt as good as he shoud have been. A lot of stuff happened that was pretty embarassing for a team in the superbowl.

The Giants deserved to win. Doesnt make it any less depressing for me though.

for the first time this year, the defense got to brady and put him on ground. it was awesome watching him get so frustrated at his O-line who were helpless to deal with the giants blitz. if there is one weakness with brady (who'll go down as one of, if not the, best pocket passers in the game) it's that he's not mobile and he's scared to get hit. a lot of times the giants didn't even hit him, just got in his face or he felt pressure coming, and he made plenty of bad throws when he wasn't getting sacked.

good example, look at that miracle throw that eli did on 3rd and 5 to tyree. he had patriot defenders all over him, hanging on him, but he kept fightin and made the throw. as good as brady is, that's not his style. he would've taken the sack there for sure.

I am in agreement; that play is what took the game for the Giants. Not sure Brady (or his ego) would have taken the sack at that point though.

(and I lost $20)

just watching the highlights, i love watching the pats go for it on 4th and 13 in FG range (what fucking ARROGANCE), and fail miserably. you could say they didn't have faith in their kicker, but belichek was always eager to inflate his "legacy" in earlier games by going for it on 4th and 1 inside the redzone. what a reality check this game was for them.

and mari, i've never seen brady shed tackles and make a play downfield in my life.

ahhhh, i knew TR would surface to talk nonsense sooner or later. in the afterglow of the victory your sour grapes are like music to my ears.

now that eli and the g-men have earned their props, i can't wait to see what direction this franchise is going to go in. jerry reese deserves major accolades for a successful first year at GM. look how many of the rookies he drafted performed at a VERY high level.

i can't wait for the inevitable rematch of the g-men and pats. patriots are getting older but still retain a power nucleus of a great team. with a little retooling i don't believe anyone can put them in the "superbowl hangover" club of missing the playoffs. should be an interesting year coming up.

noooowwww.... on to march madness as an appetizer before the main course of the 2008 baseball season.

My sour grapes? I was simply responding to you calling Patriots fans arrogant cocksuckers. Had you not made that statement, I had no problem sending out my congratulations to ya.

As a matter of fact, to be completely honest, I can say this is one of the more heartbreaking defeats I've seen in my life in the sporting world. Sox/Yanks 2003 ALCS being #1, Sox/Mets WS being #2, and Pats/Giants 2008 being #3.

..and I just realized, all 3, though different teams, are at the hands of NY teams! :X

right, and if the team you like does that, they are gritty and competitive? certainly something with a positive connotation, right?

:\

one man's meat, and all that...

um, no. i yell and throw shit at the tv if my team's head coach does shit like that. face it dude, they should've just taken the 3 pts there, but due to their arrogance...you know the deal. you and i both know that was just a bad coaching decision on belichek's part. come on, it's late 3rd quarter, you're leading, and obviously points are gonna be at a premium. this is a no-brainer. if mike tomlin did this in the superbowl, he would get fired immediately after the game and all of pittsburgh (including me) would be all over him for such a horrible executive decision.

let me just say that Bellicheck's call to go for it was one of the worst executive decisions in a SuperBowl that I have ever witnessed. who knows if the kicker could have made it from that distance... I think it would have been like a 45 yard kick?

anyways I find that in the sports world you pay for hubris two-fold. for example, losing in the SB by three points when you could have possibly made a three point play.

i would have gone for the kick but i haven't earned the right to make that decision like bill belichik. it's real easy to direct a game-winning superbowl plan after it's happened from the comfort of your sofa...

of course there's no way of knowing, but if he went for the kick and gostkowski missed, he would have got jumped all over for that too. damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

as a comical aside, i was writing something today and mispelled superbowl. the spell checker suggested: superb owl

which made me laugh.

:)

no, gastowski would've beared that scar for the rest of his life. ask scott norwood. his season long was 52 yards i believe.

QFT fuck those motherfucking homo 72 dolphins they can all kiss my ass and fuck eli manning and his boyfriend, fucking fuckers.

brady is NOT a mobile QB. he's the epitome of the stationary pocket passer. strong arm, good vision, quick decisions... but apply pressure and that can be disrupted. peyton manning is the same type of QB, as well.

for any type of player or strength, there's a way to play against their weaknesses. a mobile QB like vince young has to be played with 8 men in the box to force him to sit in the pocket and throw.

Props to the G-Men

First let me say Props to the G-Men! As a true Pat's fan (lived here all of my years) you guy's out played us.

I knew this could happen, and I wish we would have taken a loss during the regular season so we could have gotten it out of the way.

With less than 3 minutes left, if we just made one of two plays (Samuel's dropped pick or Rodney not having that guy make the catch on his helmet (great catch BTW) or if we had gotten to Manning right before that catch! Any one of those would more than likely have put the game away in favor of the Pats'.

Any way, The New York Football Giants played a great game, and this will give the Pats' some fuel for next year!

that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. you understand that, right?

sure, but don't try to make brady out to be a talented mobile QB. that's not his schtick (always wanted to use that word : ) ). like i said before, he'll go down in NFL history as arguably the best pocket passer (the only other QB i can think of that could really contend is montana, but that's strictly based on his superbowl record, i think brady has better numbers, not sure). maybe that was a bit of an overstatement, but the guy just doesn't shed tackles. i've never seen him do it, he almost always winces and takes the sack and then yells at his o-line.

sweet avatar dude.

You gotta throw Marino in there even though he didnt win any superbowls it really wasnt his fault they could never get a run game or defense up 2 par.
