super important

De Quincey... still so very sorry for your loss, but like you say, something good might come out of having it here.
-----------
Thanks to semipermeablemembrane and -Thoth for helping me find this, and MíkeySåmmy for what has to be the nicest thread closure ive ever seen.
-----------
Above all, to De Quincy: Our thoughts are still with you... best wishes your way from all of us.

I'm glad you like my idea, DQ. It's already worked once! I like to think that we prevented an accident before it had a chance to happen.

personally, i don't approve of driving under influences of anything as i've been thru too many near "misses". however, most of us out there will drive to raves becoz it's convenient. I just hope everyone will be more careful and safer than usual. check ur speed and everything else. I'm usually in the passenger seat and would help to look out for the traffic (just in case, an extra pair of eyes would be better i thought) sometimes the driver might think i am naggy or irritating..."careful of tat wobbly bike , There's a kid there" but There has been times when ppl said "geez, thanks i didn't see that!"
DQ: thanks for the headzUp,
take care!

Just a small update on the thread in (US) Discussion that caused concern... the one that was talking about the 'cool hallucinations while driving' and shit...
After a link to this thread (cant remember who posted it there... my memorys fucked... sorry) and a flaming, the author of that thread has removed it.
Common sense finally prevailed over there... maybe they should start coming here. (wait... no... i didnt mean that)

jakoz: thanks, i appreciate it.
others: i would have thought the very real risks would have outweighed convenience. especially when you weigh the cost of a train or cab fare home against what most of us spend on a night out. then weigh THAT against what can happen if something goes wrong (which is not unlikely, given how fucked up some people are when they drive). i know how I'D feel if i killed someone because i acted negligently or stupidly... it'd really fuck up my life.
Convenience can get fucked, what about taking some responsibility for how you act. Driving a car isn't a fucking game, it's not a cute rolling trick, and it's not even a right. it's a fucking privilege and it stinks how some people abuse it. I don't care if you wanna take all the drugs in the world, it's your own risk. but when people start to impose their own risk-taking behaviour on others, i lose all patience. my family has been irrevocably changed, and a good man, who was well respected in his community, has lost what was a happy and productive life, because some unthinking convenience-seeker decided to drive home from a rave.
As i said, convenience is NOT a fucking excuse.
DQ.

I hope you and your family recover from this tragic accident. It's a shame that events such as this occur every single day we are alive. BUt your message of 'be responsible' is a strong one.
If each of us took more responsibility for the msg we put across, the words we speak, the actions we do and the results we create around us things like this would only be read about in make believe.
Your point is a very valid one in this day and age. My only hope is that kids of today grow up TAKING ON responsibility rather than doing what the generation before us did, PUSHING IT AWAY.
Peace to All..
Namaste

... no words... no talk... we'll go dreaming
... no pain... no hurt... we'll go dreaming...

My heart goes out to you and your family de quincey....deepest condolences.
Your story has definately made me think deeply about those morning's that i drive home after a night of partying.

Thankyou for sharing your heart with us.
I have driven many times while pilling. I must say, no matter how fucked up I am, I NEVER drive if the eyes are going, or my judgement is impared. I will drive to a gig, do my thing, then drive home when it's starting to settle.
But I will say your story has made me think twice. I will remember that.
My thoughts are with your family.
**** HUGS ****

** Perth Bluelighters **
Any Perth Bluelighter who doesn't feel 100% capable of making it home after an event, is more than welcome to catch up on a few hours sleep in my lounge room, in South Perth (5 minutes from the City). We have two sofabeds and lots of floorspace.
If you're rolling too hard and can't drive, we have comfy couches, soft lighting and a sundeck verandah overlooking the yard, to keep you occupied until you're ready to go.
Please call to check that someone is home.
With three Bluelighters living under the same roof.. we do understand...

.. because this is the house that Bluelight built!
Shouts out to De Quincey, the original DQ

MissFlea: great to see people are doing what you do.. Im flying over to W.A sometime this year I think, I may have to take you up on the offer if the guy (net friend of about 2-3 years) can't put me up..

Its great to see how most BlueLighters are very friendly. Maybe we should make our stickers up in the vain of 'Neighbourhood Watch' stuff. Like 'Welcome to a bluelighters house'. Would be nice, but then that would attract unwanted attention.. Anyway, great to see you offering your home/castle to fellow bluelighters..
