Success with light bulb vaporizer (but a question!)

So, due to a recent scare with my health (Asthma Attack thread on BL), I had to cut back on or quit smoking pot completely. Of course a vaporizer is the first thing I can think of, but they're expensive and I don't want to wait... so a light bulb vaporizer is suggested to me.

Long story short, I went over to Home Depot and got the supplies to build it. Here's my new little baby. <3

I connected rubber tubing to a metal tubing connector (so I didn't have the put the tubing into the bulb for fear of it melting)... then I pushed the tubing connector down into the into the top of a water bottle cap. I left a little bit of the neck of the bottle so I can twist the cap off without disassembling the whole piece. Then I duct taped it to a Philip's 100 watt postlight, to ensure no vapors will escape.

Now, my question is, are there any chemicals on the bulb that I should be concerned about? For anyone that's used or owns one, are there any side effects, or does it just work like a regular vaporizer?
 
there shouldn't be anything on the bulb itself, but you might want to replace the plastic parts (and rubber tubing) every once in awhile.

My fiance said there was a plastic-like coating on it, so if the bulb was to shatter it wouldn't shatter to pieces... the plastic would keep the bulb together. That's my concern, I guess. Is it okay to heat that up? This isn't a standard bulb, as you can see, it's a bit fancier than that. It was the only 100w bulb that Home Depot had.
 
try burning it with the lighter, if theres a plastic coating you should see it melt.
if not, you can wipe the fire stain off with a rag and some alcohol.

Nope, the stain wipes right off. =D So I guess I'm all ready to go, without any fears. I already used it and I am so fucking high.... LOL I was just paranoid about what else I was inhaling with it. ;) But that didn't stop me. Haha...

Take a "power walk" to exercise, but say you like to do it alone, so she won't offer to come or anything. LOL 8) Good luck.
 
Update: I decided to name her Aubrey 2, due to the fact that if you look at the bulb directly from the front, she looks just like Aubrey 2 before she got big. <3 Little Shop of Horrors.
 
To be sure in these cases, run the lighter on the glass with no herb (and not inhaling the fumes). If you see smoke not caused by the butane of your lighter, it's bad. Maybe you could burn it off though.
 
Why is there two hollow tubes coming off of the cap?
I only use one, and the vape works great.

Your vape should be airtight. Where is the extra air coming from when you empty the vape after you hit it? It's like when you suck the air out of a plastic bottle. What happens? It flattens. Because there's nothing taking the place of the air you're taking into your lungs. Your vape must be leaking air and vapor if you can take a clean hit with only one tube.
 
uhhh you might want to take off the duct tape
i should go to home depot and rebuild my old light bulb vaporizer lol

I use duct tape on my lightbulb vape. While vaping the heat of the bulb melts the sticky part of the plastic and the mouthpiece moves around and leaks sometimes. You say not to use duct tape? Well then how do I connect the screw cap to the bulb?
Have any suggestions?

Actually my vape just broke while i was trying to clean it. oh well just need another lightbulb

And what would your replacement suggestion be, if not duct tape, to hold the neck of the bottle to the lightbulb?

Super Glue? I would imagine that is no better though, will still weaken/melt a bit under heat and I'd much rather inhale the sticky on duct tape than whatever the hell is in super glue, lol. Just replace the duct tape once in a while.
