Suboxone VS Hydromorphone for pain

Ok, I'm still making my way through that thread -- I've gotten through many, many pages -- I didn't see anything like those links. I'll keep reading was just a little freaked out, to be sure.

Hydromorphone is more addictive than buprenorphine, that's for sure. Buprenorphine is also easier to taper down off of than hydromorphone. That is why Suboxone is used for tapering down from opiate addiction.

This thread has gotten pretty off-topic.

Bupe has the lowest dependence liability of all the semi-synthetic opiates. Bupe is semi-synthetic, but it is only a partial agonist unlike other opiates like hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxymorphone, etc.

I personally thought that methadone was very, very intense -- so, if it is the worst, it makes me a little less leery of the suboxone.

The only problem is that once I go for a either one, the bridge is pretty much burned. So, if I go to the suboxone, I can say bye bye to the hydromorphone -- which I'm not in love with, but it gets me through the day.

Is there a place that I can see the relative withdrawals from these? I can ask my doctor when I see them, too, I guess.

From first hand experience I will tell you with all certainty that Methadone withdrawals are far worse. In fact the withdrawals from buprenorphine are probably milder than almost any opiate. For me they were easier than with codeine. It is true that the withdrawals last around a week (or maybe a little more) due to its long half-life. Methadone withdrawals were pure hell so if you were able to deal with 'done withdrawals you can manage Suboxone withdrawals.

^Exactly.

This thread has run its course and leaving it open will just result in speculation. OP, if you have any questions that aren't answered in the megathread, feel free to PM me or any of the other BDD staff, thank you :)
