Go as fast as you can stand man, usually jumping down from 16 to 8 is fairly easy, but once you get below 6mg it starts to get uncomfortable .
Becyase if the extremely long half life of bupre, the bup builds up in your system and you won't notice a drop until a week after you drop down.
I went from 16mg a day to 1mg a day in a month, and I feel soooooo much better on 1mg a day. Sometimes ill te 2 or 3ngs a day, but I never go over 4mg becyase supposedly is the cut off for more agonism than antagonism.
Bupres main metabolite is norbup which is a full agonist. When you take doses below 4mg, you leave space for norbup to bind. Say you have 10 opiate receptors (hypothetically). At levels of 4mg an below, bup will only fill up and bind to say 4 or 5 receptors leaving the other 4 or 5 receptors empty giving a chance for norbup to bind to receptors . Essentially at low doses, you get more of a full opiate feel and bupre acts as a prodrug meaning its metabolites is what gives the bupre its opiate feel. It's not a true pro drug because bup definitely bind to receptors, but still.
Good luck man, low dose bupre is really the way to go. I've been at 2mgs and below for over 6months now and I am able to function, and live seemingly normal life. Idk how to describe it, low doses just feel more natural and less antagonistic which tuends to make me really nauseous and gives me headaches, and you are putting more naloxone in your system which really fucks with me sometimes and gives me random nausea spells and headaches. The nausea is debilitating too like ill just throw up and lay on the couch, it sucks
I ended up switching to subutex, well like subutex in that its pure bupren. I am prescribed generic buprenorphine tablets withouth nalxone, I feel they really make a difference without shitty nalxone which basically does nothing but give you side effects like nausea and shit. I'm glad I'm on pure bupre because I don't get nauseous anymore and it is literally half the price of suboxone. Also I snort my sub and sub pills are being discontinued so bupre tablets are thr way to go IMO
