Just and update on to everyone on my current condition. Flip back a page or two to read my post about getting ready to start Suboxone. Had my sub appointment today, and it went...alright. The doctor stared me down with a devil's eye and insisted that I immediately cease all Xanax use immediately without a taper (I'm only on 2mg a day so it should be okay) and also quit smoking all pot. I also have to go to 2 NA meetings weekly and visit a substance abuse counsel every other week.
I kind of expected most of the above (minus the extremely negative attitude towards Xanax and the expectancy to quit overnight cold turkey), but what really blew my mind was the dosage she gave me. I've been given 8mg twice daily for coming off of a minuscule 120mg daily roxy habit. That seems absurd to me, I've used subs in the past recreationally and gotten buzzed from 2-4mg (with a tolerance about the same as mine is now). I've only taken 1/2 of 1 tablet so far today, and I think that might be all I need. It seems silly that the doctor would be so extremely mean-spirited about drug use and staunchly anti-drug, and then hand over to me the equivalent of...what...4 1/2 grams of morphine a week? Just seems extreme and extremely ironic/hypocritical. On a more positive note, the nurse I saw before the doctor was much nice and more understanding than the actual doctor.
