Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v3; 2010 - 2022

If im not writing this in the right area please let me know, im new. Thanx :) Been on Bupe for 14 mnths... when i was on it for 5 weeks i had weaned from 32mgs to 2 and was about to wean down and off till i found out i was pregnant. Doc switched me to Subutex cuz i was on Suboxone and i stayed on it while pregnant. My dose was raised towards the end of the pregnancy due to an increase in blood volume and weight to 4mgs. Now i take the 2mg strips one a day. Well stupid me decided i was gunna slip and use (not alot) for a few days when i didnt have the baby, worse mistake of my life.... I did about 2 grams over 3 days then put myself into wd so i could start the sub again. When i felt sick enough i took the Sub and im back on track now.... wont make that mistake again. My doc called today for a piss test though. I can probably put it off for a few days but not to long... my question is will the Sub help kick the heroin out of my system? If i wait a week then piss i should be good right? I know i should be but if there is even a slight chance then ill wait longer.. will the piss test pick up anything else other than heroin that i should worry about? any random weird crap like quanine or something? Im sure i sound absolutely idiotic asking questions that have been awnsered a million times before so like i said, sorry!! Thanx!
 
Nevr has for me and ive been on it awhile. I DO know that certain types of alcohol make some ppl violent, bitchy, sleepy or what have you. Steele Reserve use to make my ex be a fucking prick.. he was always so much nicer when he drank regular beer. Not sure if thats mind over matter or what but just giving you what ive experianced!
 
I have a quick question. If I am posting this incorrectly or in the wrong place I apologize as I am new to this site. I took Percocet 10/325 for 2-3 years. I decided I wanted to get away from them for the most part. I was not addicted, but my body was tolerant. I figured I would only use them once or twice a week at the most as needed. I took Suboxone films for the past 2 weeks to get through the withdrawals. The last time I took Suboxone was Monday. Today my back hurt so bad I broke down and took a few Percocets since I did not have Suboxone at work, but I still had a few Percocets in my drawer. How long should I wait before taking the Suboxone again?
 
Thanx....i didnt think it increased it,i figured he just wanted to get buzzed/drunk. I HATE Steele Reserve...everyday i have to see that stupid silver can & know hes gonna turn into an asshole. Im on meth & it does the oppisite...i hate drinking i feel like it takes the methadone out of my system quicker.....esp since im detoxing & only on 35mgs. I didnt think it could be much different w subs.
 
Ohhhh & cardgirl if it was only a few percs im pretty sure u cld take it right away. My bf has done dope & took his subs like normal. Oxycodone is pretty short acting & its not like youve been taking them everyday. I could see if u were on meth or somthing but ur not.
 
Thank you jeng1128! I am new to Suboxone, so I was not sure. All I could find were posts from people who said to wait to take Suboxone until you are in withdrawals, but since I have been off of the Percs for a couple weeks I didn't think taking a few would throw me back into withdrawals. You have made me feel more confident now about taking the Suboxone again.
 
Yah its fine...my bf used to give me his urine bc i was dirty for benzos & he had to take some of my meth so itd be in his urine & he takes 16mg suboxone/day....he was fine:)

(unfortunately?) No directly. Other then a synergistic interaction (that is, both being depressants) there is not real direct drug interactions between Suboxone (buprenorphine nor naloxone).

Ok so a few things - Firstly, there is not stupid questions! Everyone would rather you ask then say silent and possibly cause harm (especially now you have a little one to look after!). Secondly, congrats on your baby! Like I said, you've got another life to look after, time to shape up* ;) Also bugger about the relapse, but you're not the first one, it's not unheard of but good to get back onto it. Unfortunately I'm not entirely sure if heroin shows up in a urine test after subsequently taking Subs - I'll check my books again and talk with some people if you want! At a guess I'd say the H may still show up - both the bupe and narc have a stronger affinity to the opioid receptors however this doesn't mean urine tests work/test bound molecules at receptor sites! The kicking off of the receptor may mean the clearance period is shorter however (read: expelled out the body faster) however don't quote me on this! :\

I'll post more information when I get a chance to do a little research!

Alcohol in general makes many people violent. Which I don't get - if I know of a drug (alcohol or any drug tbh) which puts me into a state which I don't like (being violent) then I just wouldn't said drug**! Why purposefully, full well knowing what it does to you, do that? In fact, there are substances which do this which I stay totally away from! -_-

A big reason to argue against using (any sort of) drugs! There exists (especially with illegal drugs) a vast range of reactions people can have - often negative which cause problems.

I agree, the elimination rate of oxycodone (Percocet) is rather fast. Depending on the test (usually urine?) I'd wait a few days. On another note, if you're having to take something because you have a legitimate condition (back-pain? try to it explicitly diagnosed) then tell you're (hopefully regular, who knows you and your body well) doctor! There are are treatment beside Just besides narcotic (opiate) analgesics! Just because you have an addiction, doesn't mean you have to be/stay in pain!

How dangerous is it to IV the strips? Also, can anyone help me understand this:

So I came off heroin saturday and have been on subs since but pretty sick none the less. I am actually just starting to feel better now. But here's my question. So I tried to IV sub for the first time today, injected about 2 mg around 3 pm. I barely felt anything from it. Then at 10 pm tonight, I again IVed 2-3 mg and this time I not only got well but I got a buzz off it. You would think Id have felt it more the first time.

Also I know everyone says less is more with sub and I do find that to be true once I have been taking it for a while, but when I am newly off heroin, I really think that more is more. If I take doses aroiund 2-3 mg I dont get as much relief as I do when I take more. Anyone else agree with this?

This has been discussed in depth. Without a micron filter, I'd wager it's fairly dangerous.

And yes you will need higher dosages of buprenorphine as you just quit heroin. As you stay off of heroin for longer periods of time, slowly decrease your buprenorphine dosages.

Congratulations on quitting heroin!
 
how long after using bupe is it okay to use H?

I fucked up, I took bupe this morning (6am) and instigated withdrawls for myself. It's the first 8mg bupe i've taken in years. So I thought getting high would help me out, which is didn't...eventually the withdrawls tapered off and I feel normal now. My question is how long will I have to wait until I can use my drug of choice again? I'm hoping to be able to get high around the 20-22 hour mark (before I go to work). What do you think?

I really didn't know where to put this thread.
 
oh man, that's gonna be rough. it's been almost 12 hours and i can already feel myself feeling uneasy. just took some clonodine and visteral to help curb the uneasiness.
 
If you haven't been on suboxone daily for months and months, than you definitely don't need to wait that long. The half life of suboxone is somewhere between 24 and 36 hours, but people with faster metabolisms get rid of it much quicker. If you took 8mg's, than in 24 hours there will still be about 4mg's in your system.. maybe less depending on your own body chemistry. But, on low doses of suboxone, the blocking effect is severely negated. After 24 hours, you should be able to feel a good majority of your drug of choice. In my experience, even being on suboxone a long time, all I would have to do is not dose for a day and I'd be getting about 90% of my high.. that doesn't apply for everybody but most people I know don't have to wait even close to the 3 days they claim you need to. That's if your not on an outrageous dose like 16 or 24 mg's. Than your going to need to wait a while..
 
Yah, mr.Scagnattie spoke the truth.

In my experience, the efficacy of buprenorphines blockade effect is kind of hit and miss, even for those who have been taking it for maintenance. I would find that one day, (at say, an 8-16mg maintenance dose) I would not be able to feel any effects from IV heroin, but on another day I could shoot less dope, and get 100% high (though yeah, the majority of the time this wouldn't happen). When you've been taking suboxone for maintenance at doses above 4mg, your safest bet at getting high is to wait at least 48 hours. However, sometimes even then, you might just find withdrawal relief rather than euphoria, as daily Suboxone use can surely 'dull' your receptors' sensitivity to opiates with chronic administration.

However, you have to realize that acute buprenorphine dosing is very different than chronic dosing. Due to its long half life, Bupe will build up in your system over the course of 11-12 days (with consistant dosages), so that while you might be only taking 16mg each morning, you actually have around 44mg in your blood at any given time. So when you want to use, you have to take this into consideration when deciding how many days you should wait. While this isn't good news necessairily for those who have been on maintenance at high dosages and want to get high off of other opiates, it can be for people in your position, who have only taken one dose. You really do have only 8mg in you (well, that can actually depend on how you took the suboxone, as the sublingual BioAvailibility is around 30%), and that's not going to block for very long, if at all.

However, since you have successfully gotten through the precipitated withdrawals, maybe you might want to think about using the buprenorphine to taper down and detox, because who the hell wants to risk going through an experience like that again?
 
I came off heroin five or six days ago and I have been on suboxone ever since and yet I still have withdrawal symptoms from heroin, chills and sweats, pain in my legs, no appettite and cant sleep. Why wont the suboxone hold me? Will I adjust to it in a couple more days? I definitely feel way better than I would If i were on nothing.
