Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v2; 2010

hi everyone, spectre here. first i got off benzos, now i'm inches away from opioids, too. try this one guys...

obtain some form of nasal spray, dump out the contents, and add solution of dissolved suboxone tab. it works great, and you can get some accurate dosages like this:

measure the volume of the solution containing suboxone and saline (or water)
add solution to the spray bottle, re-seal, shake, and spray 20 times
pour the solution out of the spray bottle and measure the volume
find the change in volume from the sprays and divide it by the number of sprays
now you have mL per spray
calculate mass of bupe divided by volume of solution to find mg or ug/mL
now you can find ug/spray!

i find it much easier to use this method when tapering or even maintenance. you have the convenience of the spray bottles' legitimacy. i taper by the number of sprays. 20 sprays a day, then maybe 18, slowly down to nothing. it's been holding me for a month already, and now i'm at 0.2mg a day from 2mg. hell, one 8mg tab last weeks now! take care guys, i hope this helps someone else out, too.

That is good advice and a great method...but just so you know, its been posted about several times allready on BL. But I guess its always good to be reminded of our options.

Also....you should mention that using bacteriostatic water is the way to go. It helps preserve the solution, prevent degredation, and just make it safer all around.

as soon as i took my bupe this morning i felt 100 percent......

i didnt have my razor with me.... so 1mg tomo.... took 2mg today...

Last night, I took a sleeping pill and 1/2 a 0.4mg pill ~ I found it difficult to get thru the day. This morning, at 1am when I woke up, I took the other half.

Whoever asked where I'm from, I'm in England, UK.

I really tried hard not to take any extra pills yesterday, so 1/2 a pill isn't that bad as a full one.

I don't think I could get thru today on less than 3.0mg. That is why I only took half.

I've got roughly 2.8mg remaining, to take around 8am today. I sure hope I don't rattle.

I'm seeing this psychiatrist (my drug worker arranged the appointment) for stomach pains. My drug worker said he also does physical stuff. But, ever since I got off 6mg daily, and down to roughly 4mg, my stomach pain has returned.

Had stomach pains since 2000, way before I took heroin. They are pretty severe/acute pains.

But, that isone reason for taking heroin, it helps with the pain. When the Subutex did the same, I thought, hey, free drugs that help with the pain! So, I stuck on Subutex.

But, right now, my stomach burns before and after urination. It hurts so bad.

So, I'm seeing a psychiatrist. I'm also making an appointment with a doctor. I'm not settling for 'indigestion' as a diagnosis now. It's been 10 years over, and I've been told indigestion is like acid reflux, but I don't get that ~ I get really bad pains that only opiates remove. Like, I used to take 90mg codeine straight up, and then lay there feeling my stomach churning like crazy. It was weird.

your stomach could be so many things........we cant even begin to guess without more info

ever thought that your actually being held on a lower dose.....your just having stomach issues?

this could result in you taking more bupe than you need to........

also, maybe it is an acid issue, just not reflux......

Because I had the stomach pain since 2000, years before I took heroin, I never thought it was the subbies causing the pain. Even when I went cold turkey off the heroin I did not get cramps.

I've got a pretty strong constitution. But, this pain in my gut disables me. I literally cannot walk with it it hurts so bad.

I had appendicitus recently, and had my appendix removed. I had that for two weeks. No nausea, with it. But, everyone said to me the pain should have been pretty bad, but I say the pain pales in comparison to this gut rot I've got.

I mean, with a ruptured appendix, I was running up the highstreet to catch a bus to take me to the hospital! Haha. No shit. It did not phase me at all.

But, this stomach pain, damn, that hurts. Real bad. And the doctors have all said different things, like deuodenal ulcer, indigestion, prolapsed colon, the list is endless. Some even think it might be IBS?

I dunno. I just want ANY opiate to take the pain away.
 
i have ibs......its not fun, so that may be your answer....

i was also going to suggest ulcers.......

i smoke weed daily for my ibs, its not a cure....but its still a magic med.....

12 hours later.....

man i took 2mg again....i should have precut it..... this has been the only drop i guess i started to struggle.... i have not even tried.....tomo for sure, i feel like ive said that to many times....its not like im sick, just have not prepared like i did for all the other drops....

Can anyone explain to me why suboxone is occasionally used in those with alcohol dependency, I have read reports of this in a few places, & seen a general consensus in non-alcoholics that being on bupe greatly decreases ones desire/ability to consume alcohol, but I have not been able to find the mechanism of action that causes this effect, and am curious to know more.
 
^ dopamine receptors, if i am correct..... they are being used, on a large scale, due to affinity of bupe...............

i have not drank nearly as much while on bupe...

however. i recently began to drink alot again, i managed to break thru the wall....
 
I drank for my first time in a couple months about a week ago and I definitely felt like a had somewhat of a decent tolerance for some reason. Usually I can catch a buzz off two soco's and coke but it took me four of those fuckers to get the buzz i was lookin for. I'm a lightweight too, I only weigh a buck twenty five.
 
My buddy I met at the pharmacy had no script. Missed an appointment to collect it. SO, he says; I'm gonna score. So, I was like, sure I'll score with ya! He was like; safe dude.

So, this guy, I did not realise this at the time, he's got no numbers! WTH!

So, we're walking about all the hot spots looking for people scoring. No one is about.

Then, we bump into a tramp and he goes up to the tramp and asks him to score. Haha. I said, 'later dude' and took my subutex right there and then. I had waited a good hour before taking it though.

I mean, it must be rough for the poor lad, he's only young, got a methadone habit. And he said he felt light headed and stuff. Just wait until he realises he cannot get his script until after 10am! Haha. That is gonna be a kick in the teeth. Poor boy.
 
Suboxone Question

I am currently on a maintenance/weaning program, taking about 8 mgs of Suboxone for an 8-10 Roxicets a day addiction. Suboxone makes me so freakin' tired I can hardly stand it. I'm taking them as directed (twice a day) but in smaller and smaller amounts to avoid the tiredness, but I'm ready to stop taking them all together. I've only been taking them for one month.

My question is, if I were to stop taking them and then after 36 hours or so (the half-life of a Suboxone) and I started getting cravings or going through withdrawals, would I be able to restart taking the Suboxone again and continue my taper plan? I do NOT want to go back on the Roxicets and then start all over with the Suboxone, but I don't want to go through serious withdrawals, either. I cannot afford to go through withdrawals because I HAVE to work and being the wimp that I am, even the most mild withdrawals put me down for the count.

Any answers/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome! Thank you for your quick response.

I'm going to try and go off the Subs tomorrow and see what happens. Any withdrawals or whatever should start on the weekend and that'll give me time to "right" myself before returning to work on Monday.
 
Yes libra thats a good idea, and when you do take more sub you can take a much smaller dose
 
does anyone know how bad the withdrawal for .5 suboxone would be after taking it for 6 months? im taking it to avoid opiates and to help me keep sane thru benzo withdrawal but my doc will only let me stay on it for 6 months. im scripted 2 mg but i only need .5 to give me the ability to eat again and sleep better

I don't know to be honest, it'll still be probably bad since you're still also coming off of benzos.

Best of luck.

My advice, is to taper down lower (maybe 0.25mg) if you can.
 
u mean to only take .25 for 6 months or to hop off .25 when im getting off of it? im not sure if .25 will help me for the next 6 months
 
Well kids, tomorrow is my last day of Subutex. My doctor has tapered me off (I will still be getting 15 2mg pills per month for pain) because he doesn't want me dependent on it any more. I will take my last 2mg pill tomorrow morning. I was on 8mg/day for about a year, dropped down to 4mg for a month, then 2mg/day for the past week. Can anyone tell me what I'm in for?

I do have a stash of liquid Lortab, though I'm not sure that'll be of any use ;)
