You want to wait 2 days minimum if possible.

Would the fact I had meth the morning before that make any difference? i'm quite confused about all this. I've had alot of conflicting information. I'm just trying to see which one is going to work best for me. Maybe i'm trying everything a little to soon then

To littledragon

Whats your tolerance like? As long as you were in withdrawl when you dosed the subs then i doubt your in precipetated withdrawl. How much suboxone did you take it can take up to 24mg for some people to feel well on it.

My tolerance is quite high I suppose, i've been doing alot of h for while now and someone suggested I try a bit of the subutex, I reckon I probably had about 4mg. I was in early onset of withdrawl but it was only about 24 hours after my last hit.

Yes, methadone takes a long time to get out of one's system.

You want to wait 3-5 days after your last dose of methadone, sometimes even longer.

So that means that i'd have to go through 3-5 days of withdrawl before I could try the subutex yeah? So that'd just be hell, that thought makes me think that Meth could be the prefferable option... maybe

The easier thing to do is to switch to an intermediate opiate (heroin, morphine, codeine, hydrocodone, oxycodone) something that doesn't linger as long in the system via elongated half life.

That way you can do opiates again temporarily and then stop. Then you will have regular WD symptoms. That is when taking Subutex is ideal.

That way you won't have to spend 2-5 days coming down.

Subutex/Suboxone -> Methadone is the easy switch
Methadone -> Suboxone/Subutex is the hard switch

i think people who choose bupe over methadone should be givin way more credit. there have been so many times in bupe maintenance where i wanna say fuck it and get on methadone just to get a high. but it is not worth it at all because the withdraals are sooo much worse and after awhile on methadone you dont even get high(like on bupe) so why choose the route that will be more diifcult and painful all for a little more of a high youre looking to factor out of your life. bupe is the more realistic step towards sobriety

Getting Suboxone while clean to prevent relapse?

Okay long story short I've been a dope fiend for about 3 years off and on, been doing opiates for about 7. Starting taking them for back pain that I've had since I was a kid(lots of motorcycle accidents). Well I always end up getting clean for short stints and then relapsing like many others. Well I was curious if a doctor would prescribe Suboxone to try to help prevent relapse. Does anyone have experience with that? Cause I am clean now but think about dope everyday and always want to get it, I have taken some subs a few times while I've been clean. When I'm on subs I really don't think about dope as much, it still comes to mind but I don't CRAVE it. So yeah, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried to ask their doctor about that or even something else that would help with my cravings(preferably not Methadone). I realize the chances are slim because most doctors will think I just wanna get high again....and that's kind of true to a point but I wanna stay away from dope and get on something legal. Any input is appreciated.

Your circumstances are quite common, and Buprenorphine maintenance could be a viable option for you, to help avoid relapse. Most doctors would prefer that you take a low to moderate dose of Bupe/Suboxone/Subutex daily, rather than have you out scoring and doing dope.

Do the research, weigh the benefits vs. the risks, and make an educated decision as to whether or not Bupe maintenance is right for you and your situation.

I think it would be a possibility a doctor would put you on bupe maintanence given your story...

Honestly i've been to 4 different sub doctors, they never drug tested me to make sure I was dependant/withdrawing before prescribin subs..just ask you how much you use etc...

Just talk to your doctor. If they won't RX it for you when you're clean, wait until you're relapsing again - then they should have no problem.

Good luck with preventing further relapses!

That's how I feel too needlejuice.

Some people don't tolerate buprenorphine well at all, so for them methadone might be a better option.

I couldn't imagine having to go to a clinic nearly every day to get methadone and basically be trapped to the city/clinic.

buprenorphine taper?

So I have been using oxys daily for the past month. I am still a newbie when it comes to all this, but as soon as I tried to stop using after the two week mark I began to experience withdrawals after a day or so. Keep in mind I wasn't doing that much either maybe a 30mg roxi or two per day max. So I got back on and here I am, though this time I have managed to acquire four 8mg subutex tabs, and hope to be able to use these to help get through withdrawals and then kick the subs. Do I even need to taper after using these pills, cause for a relatively inexperienced user like me I shouldn't go through withdrawals for more than a couple days? What is ur guys advice on what I should do, and how I should go about doing it? Thanks.:)

You could taper but the best solution would be to just stick out the withdrawl for a couple days I promise it really will not be that bad. Get some diazepam or other benzo, some loperamide, weed, advil. and a desire to stop. The worst will be over in 3 days and honestly it wont be that bad.

Agreed. Be careful with the subs man, they are very very potent and you have an enviously low tolerance. If you do use the subs, no more than 1mg (not one tab!!!) to start with. I have a 160-200mgs a day oxy habit and 2mgs of bupe holds me very well for 24-36 hours. If I were you I'd get some immodium and some klonopin or whatever for sleep and kick it over a long weekend. It won't be that bad and it will be over quick. Odds are if you start taking those subs you will end up with a higher opiate tolerance and longer withdrawls.

Best of luck man.

Yeah if I were you I would only use one of those subutex to get through the first 4 days, then save the other 3 in case you get yourself in this situation. Some people think that the subutex isn't addictive but trust me, it is addictive so be careful.

Seriously if you weren't using much don't touch the subs it will be a lot less painful to just stick out the withdrawals for a few days than deal with bupe withdrawal later.
