Suboxone withdrawl...

How long after your usual 8mg dose does withdrawl set in and how long does it last? thanks in advance. peace
 
I'm sure alot of people will tell you to use the search engine but I'm feeling nice tonight. It depends on how long you've been on your suboxone. If you've been on the maintenance program for a while, you will definetly go through some withdrawal starting around day 2 or 3 and possibly ending in a couple weeks. If you don't use suboxone daily, you shouldn't experience any symptoms of withdrawal.
 
yeah thanks, i seen other posts about suboxone withdrawl but the threads were more or less how to ween yourself off . anyways ive been taking 8mgs a day for the past year and change. and am out with no way to get more so im just preparing myself. thanks for the reply. peace
 
I took a similiar amount of suboxone that you took. My withdrawals started between 2-3 days after the last dose. The symptoms peaked around day 4 or 5. Very bad insomnia and RLS, and loss of apetite. I lost 20lbs coming off of it, so I suggest eating soup because that was the only thing that my stomach would "accept". The major-moderate w.d's lasted 10days or so.
 
damn 10 days. that sucks. im thinking of getting some tramadol from my doc so i can ween off with them. has anyone tried this method?

Wait as long as possible before taking the other mg, you will experience WD but thats life you can't get out of this game without experiencing some pain.
 
I didn't mean that you will be in full blown w.d's for ten days, I meant that you will def notice moderate symptoms for that length of time. The suboxone w.d's are known to drag out longer than other opiate w.d's due to the longer half-life.

It depends what ROA. After sublingual use, about a day.

I know what you mean, I used to use a lot more than I do now.

If 2mg/day works for you, there's no shame at staying there. If I were to use Suboxone sublingually, 2mg/day would work for me if I needed it to.

With your last MG take a quarter of it, and save the other quarter for whenever you feel you need it. That'll be the easiest way to step off of it with your last MG.

It depends on how big your habit was, I don't remember you posting in here before, what's your opiate history like?
 
hi, i have a question directed to captain heroin...

i was just reading some of the pages, and i believe on page 16 or 19 you replied to someone and told them that you only go into precip. wds. if you take suboxone while you have oxy in your system...so what i do not understand is that i have a friend that takes suboxone, and then after a few weeks he will take about 200mgpd. of oxycontin, and then once he is out he will for example take his last 80mg of oxycontin in the morning around 9am, and then at 4pm in the afternoon he will jump back on suboxone...now my question is...is there something i am missing here? the only reason why i have not jumped back on suboxone is because number 1...im worried that ill get sick as hell, and number 2...what i get in a wreck and really have severe pain...then im screwed and cannot take anything. If i knew that i would not get really ill by taking suboxone after oxy within a 12 hour period i would actually get back on it for good, and if i got really sick id just take some oxy...but im just not sure what to do, all i know is i do not have the time to get sick...i remember the last time i switched on suboxone i went through wds,,,maybe because i was on 500 mgspd of oxy which is alot i was in bed for 4 days, and i can honestly say it was the worst 4 days of my life...the leg pains were unreal. I want to get back on suboxone, but i want to avoid getting sick like last time, and i just do not understand how a friend of mine can just jump around...i dont even want to do that...i just have to work and cannot afford to be sick a.t.m.

Some people are "quick metabolizers" of drugs (like me). So, I think it is best if you wait - but when you feel sick, you should be able to take it. How long it takes to feel sick and in full WD's is longer than other people's.

But when you're on buprenorphine, you can use other opiates for sure. It may or may not be "as good" as when you're not on buprenorphine, but that's not always an issue depending on tolerance level.

Is there a question I missed? Sorry if I skipped over something.

When taking Sublingually or Snorted, I take 2-4mg once or twice a day (twice only if needed). Sometimes I will do more, never more than 8mg a day total. I want to try taking bupe via IV once just to experience it. What dose would you recommend? I want to feel it, possibly get high maybe. I'm still very jealous of you saying you get a rush each time.

I looked and used the search engine but I couldn't find any info or answers to my question, so I thought I'd post it here since it fits right in.

I recently came across a bunch of buprenorphine ampules, I believe they are 0.3mg/ml. They are the glass kind with the break off top. My question is: is there another route of administration to take this bupe other than IV/IM or plugging? I don't want to IV or IM it since I've never done that before and I don't want to start now. I hate plugging things, so I don't want to do it that way either. So is there any way to effectively take this orally? Can I take it buccally or under the tongue like normal bupe/Temgesic? Like, can I place a ml or two under my tongue and try to hold the liquid there? I've done this with solid Temgesic tablets, I've dissolved them in alcohol then soaked the alcohol into a bit of cotton and placed that under my tongue.
Do you think that would work with bupe? I've got these amplues and I really like bupe because of the relief and euphoria it gives me, but I don't want to use any syringes.
 
i guess my history would be roughly 40-80mg's per day on average for a period of like 4 months except a few times were i went without for a week or so. Today i feel pretty decent, a few mild signs of w/d's but definitely not full blown. When should i take the mg or so i have left? just when i begin to hurt a bit? captain heroin you think i should split up the mg? thats sounds like an idea do you have a possible schedule i could follow?

That would work. A nasal spray might be worth looking into as well.

Since normal Suboxone and Subutex pills are supposed to be taken sublingually, I could imagine that holding the liquid under your tongue would work. May be difficult though if there is a lot of liquid. Just swallowing it will not work, and I suggest that when you're done taking it sublingually you spit it out rather than swallow it.
 
Ok I have a question thats been bothering me about suboxone. I have been on maintenience for a lil over a month 8 mg a day split into two 4 mg doses. If I had a severe car wreck or other accident would the hospital or paramedics be able to give me anything for pain? Is there a way to knock the bupe off my receptors so normal opiates will work or will I just be in horrible pain as i die?

I take < 1mg /day IV roughly and it takes me about 6-8 hours before "WD" kicks in, if you could call it that.

Hm, well if you want to try it once I would try 1mg or less. It's pretty potent.

If you still have a large opiate tolerance or have recently been using opiates it may not be that euphoric for you, but if you've been on buprenorphine for a while and haven't been taking opiates, there's a good chance you'd like it for the novel effect and much quicker onset.

They're designed for IM/IV. Plus there's a very minimal amount in each, it might be best just to trade them to someone who would give you something of greater value.

I would split it up into piles of powder like 1/4ths or 1/3rds. And do one at a time when I felt absolutely necessary.

It's something you can adjust yourself, there's not much of a "taper schedule" with one last MG. If you want to take it all at once you can do that too. Except I would at least split it in half for 2 different doses. Some people report 0.5mg not that hard to step off of.

This is a fair concern.

The fact is, once you are on buprenorphine, you can use other full agonists. It's going from a full agonist without waiting onto buprenorphine that causes precipitated WD.

So, if you are in a horrible car accident, they will be able to give you morphine/dilaudid/etc for the pain no problem.

They will give you enough pain medicine, if buprenorphine is interfering you'll just have to get more pain medicine. In the case of a horrible accident, most doctors aren't going to be stingy, especially if you are like screaming/thrashing about because of the pain.

If you're taking 4mg at a time, I don't think you'd need too terribly much more pain management, and I don't think they'd even notice something's interfering or that you're on bupe or have a huge tolerance like a junkie or w/e at all. Some people are just less responsive to some drugs.
