Imo its not a very good analgesic.

Yes you need to have the methadone completely out of your system or you're gonna go through hell.

Well, I'm not a big dude, 6' 205 lbs, but I have been on them since april and have used around 12 mgs a day over the past 2 weeks so I am probably just reallt saturated

expect suboxone withdrawal to be milder, yet longer than normal opiates. the worst part for me is the persistent lack of energy. i find it hard to do anything. the sweating sucks too.
you shoudl try to lower your dose to 8 or even 4 mg. i went from 24mg a day to 8mg in a single day. i felt little withdrawal from the difference. from 8mg i've moved all the way down to .5. the withdrawal at .5 still feels the same IMO.

UTSE...and post this in the Buprenorphine Megathread.
But I must add that Buprenorphine makes a great analgesic IMO/IME. I have terrible arthritis in my jaw and it keeps the constant, dull throb at bay.

I've been on only 10mg sometimes 15mg for a few days now.. I've only been taking it for 3 weeks.. or so? Do you know how long I will have to wait? And can I use a weak opiate, like hydrocodone to keep me from getting sick up until I get on it?

Thanks, and sorry but what does IMO stand for? Also, in your opinion then, it wasn't as bad as your doc's (paws)?

That's a pretty low dose of methadone. You will be fine...transition to the vicodin a few days before your apt, and stop the vicodin 24hr before the apt so you are in WD when you get the sub.

24 hours from my last dose, its time to detox.

Half to quarter gram black tar habit, smoked. 6 weeks since it got daily, 6 months of several times weekly. All my fault and I knew exactly what I was doing. I have 7 8mg suboxone, and unlimited access to klonipin and xanax. What am I in for?

I think I need to go get some ibuprofen and immodium, from reading other posts. Cleared my schedule until Thursday. Planned on staying home, PM me. This is all new. I'm just starting withdrawals, got goosebumps and chills.

What's a proper way to use suboxone to get off it? I'm willing to go through some withdrawals to expedite the process.

As a kid, you never said "I want to grow up and be a heroin addict." What thr fuck...

i know and it friggen sucks. thats ALL my mom will give me.i take vicodin with it too.. thanks though.. too bad you have to be in w/d to get it..-_-

Small price to pay in my opinion. But don't take that advice lightly, you WILL be in withdrawal one way or another.

People need to realize, there is no "record"

Your doctors know exactly what you want them to know. If you go to a doctor in pain, unless you give them explicit written permission to obtain your records from your suboxone doctor (assuming you actually tell them about your suboxone doctor), they can not have it

If you don't tell a doctor about something, they don't know and they can't find out

You control your medical information

I'll get the lingo someday. :). Thanks to cap h, johnny blue, dopiate lol, and others for clarifying a lot today. Def will add my experience to all the others in the coming days so maybe someone in my shoes will understand what they could be in for with regards to suboxone

so i'm not quite sure if this is the right forum but oh well.

i'm going to the doctor on either wednesday or friday to get put on suboxone. i've been using methadone for a few weeks to get off opiates, but i know once i run out of done i will be sick. and then i'll end up buying whatever i can get my hands on and restarting it..

i have a few questions about it though.. do i have to be clean from methadone, or any opiates before being put on suboxone?

does it go on your doctor record so i wont ever get opiates if needed later in life?

and does it kill pain at all? even a little bit? i get back pain and migranes ALL of the time.. and tylenol/aleve does not do ANYTHING except make me sick..

sorry if this is the wrong forum or already posted.. i just needed to know the answers to 3 questions.

These questions have been answered 1000 times in the thread two places above this one (Suboxone/Buprenorphine Mega Thread v3.0), but I will answer them one more time, then shift it to said thread.

do i have to be clean from methadone, or any opiates before being put on suboxone?

Absolutely, yes. Going from Methadone to Suboxone is actually A LOT more difficult than going from Suboxone to Methadone. You are going to have to wait till you are in full blown withdrawals from the Methadone before taking the Suboxone, otherwise the Suboxone will precipitate some very very nasty withdrawals that you won't be able to make go away for a while. Taking more Suboxone will just make them worse, so you'll have to ride it out. Waiting till you are in withdrawals already is much easier, less painful, and more convenient.

does it go on your doctor record so i wont ever get opiates if needed later in life?

Typically, no. As Desdenova said, you have to give doctors permission to obtain your record from your previous doctor. Patients think "record" implies a file that is accessible by any doctor on some database somewhere, but that's not the case. It's just a file folder that your current doctor has either in a filing-cabinet or in their computer. Your next doctor will not have this file unless he gets permission from you to call your previous doctor and have it sent over.

and does it kill pain at all?

In your case, no, it won't. For someone with low tolerance, it would work well as a pain-killer, but since you already have a tolerance to Methadone, a very powerful pain-killer, the only thing Suboxone will do is stave off withdrawals.

On that note, you better make sure you are at a very low dose of Methadone before switching over, otherwise even the max dose of Suboxone is not going to work well at all. By low dose, I mean 20 - 30mg. Anything higher, there is a very good chance Suboxone isn't going to work at all.

I am af 60 plus hours off suboxone and still no noticeable withdrawal, I am not complaining. Should I deduce that I have really slow metabolism?

Thats assuming you live in the US ;)

Its a very different story in the UK.

"She'll be comin' round the mountain when she comes..."

Also, as someone else said, I too went from 8mg and am down to 0.5-2mg per day. Normally about 1mg. I wake up each morning with runny eyes and having to take a massive shit. It's like clockwork.
