Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ and Megathread v.1; 2007 - 2010

yo bot, i've never gotten precipitated withdrawals before fortunately. i've even dosed my suboxone only 14-17 hours after last shot and never had any problems besides maybe panic attacks from worrying if i actually was gonna go into precip w/d. thats why i don't do the switch from full agonist to sub anymore, cause i hate waiting to get back on suboxone and worrying about precip w/d. fuck that.

formanchristopher, yes i know naloxone/naltrexone is commonly used in treating alcoholics but it is usually the naltexone by itself that they use for alcoholics. but that still doesn't change the fact that in suboxone, the mixture of buprenorphine & naloxone, the bupe overpowers the naloxone everytime, and that makes the naloxone inactive basically, so the naloxone in suboxone tablets is not doing anything. if you were just taking naltrexone/naloxone by itself and no bupe, then yes it would work.
surprisingly though, most doctors either don't know that the naloxone is overpowered by bupe or just don't tell ppl cause they want ppl to think they will go into precipitated withdrawal if they abuse suboxone. it also doesn't matter what ROA you use with suboxone, the bupe always overpowers the naloxone, even if you inject suboxone.
Hey-
just noticed this one, and thanks. Makes sense, but now you know what you've gone and did, right? You have fucked up my whole entire belief that I no longer wanted or had cravings for alcohol, and so now I'm just gonna have to go get good and drunk!! :) Kidding (duh!) as
I can't drink....parole, drug court, random U.a.'s, etc.
Again, thank you. I hate ignorance, and certainly don't want to show mine when I don't have too. Anytime someone can call bullshit, feel free. Peace!

^ It looks like he copy and pasted it from somewhere.

But it's correct.

And please, put everything in the one post instead of making multiple posts in a row... please?

Mr. Blonde,
Yeah, I have also noticed that mistake. In fact, I got confused when you said what you did about "multi posting", yesterday. Give me a day(?), and I'll either figure it out correctly, or, I'll
just keep my thoughts to myself, as most of my shit is only random comments(what can I say-
I love Bluelight), ok? Again, and this will be the last of my 400 posts in this one single thread today, I thank you for your help!

^ It's not too confusing; you can post in a thread as much as you like, but if no one has posted after your most recent post, just use the edit button to add what you want to say on to it.

And I'm glad you enjoy Bluelight. :)

guys, i know this has been covered before, but im just worried about taking my sub dose... i last took about twenty five mg yesterday, i think at around noon, but im not sure, it was not that far away from noon, it is not twenty four hours later yet, but it is about 10:30 am and i am starting to feel kinda crappy, but definatly not that bad at all yet.. my question is, if i take my sub now, is there a chance i will have precip. w/d even if i am only an hour or two short of a full day since my last oxy dose??? do i have to wait until im definatly in full w/d or can u dose as soon as w/d is starting/early stages???

^ You need to re-word your post a bit, it sounds like you said you took a sub dose yesterday but you're saying you took oxycodone?

Yes, you have to wait until you are in severe WD. Why ask if this has been covered?

i take sub daily.. the last 3 days (friday, sat, and yesterday) ive been taking 25 mg of oxycodone instead for tooth pain.. today i am going back to sub, and ive read that i should wait 24 hours or until i start having w/d, and i *THINK* i am starting w/d but its really not that bad at all yet.. however, ive only been on .5- 1mg of sub for the last year, never experienced w/d.. so i really have no clue at all how bad the w/d would be, so im wondering if i can take my sub dose now, althogh it has not been a full 24 hours yet, its pretty close, im probably one to two hours at most, short of 24 hours..i could just wait longer, but i do need to start getting ready, and leaving and its hard right now w/o my sub dose..

mr. blonde, ^yes they were. ;)

beeasy, can't say for sure, best rule is to wait until you are in pretty bad withdrawals to be sure, or at the very least 24 hours. but it varies, some ppl can wait 24 hours and still go into precip w/d and others can do their sub not 12 hours after a full agonist and not go into precip w/d.

thank you guys.. i guess i will wait till the 24 hour mark..i guess my final question would be, does anyone know how bad should i expect my w/d to be?? again, ive been taking between .5- one MG of suboxone for about a year

^are you asking how bad the withdrawal will be from stopping oxycodone and getting on suboxone?? or are you talking about quitting suboxone?

^ Both i guess?? I think Mr. Blonde has it right, but this confuses the hell outta me... I'l just restate everything... I have been taking between .5 and 1 mg of sub for the last year... The last 3 days, i have taken 25 MG of oxycodone each day, my last dose being just about 24 hours ago... I currently feel DECENT.. i kinda feel a litle crappy, but not really bad at all, nose is running, some hot/cold sweats. until i put on a sweatshirt, i was very cold, and a good amount of anxiety, but i have bad anxiety naturally, and would have it if i was not on any medications at all...

so, i really have no idea how bad to expect my w/d to be right now ... im really waiting to start feeling shittier before i take my sub, but i have to start getting ready to leave the house, and i really would like to take my sub first

i really hope this is clearer.

edit - jsut want to make sure you both know that im asking these questions for the purposes of not going into precip. W/D... thanks again.

^ Yep, I understand what you are asking. He wants to know how bad he can expect his WD to be while waiting to dose his sub again, and when he should know that it's time.

I haven't been on sub, so I'm not sure but 36 hours should be a safe point. If it gets bad before that, take it then. I know it's hard because you haven't experienced WD before, but after 24 hours you should be OK. If you want to be safe, wait for 36 or if you're impatient a few hours after 24.

yes, that is what im trying to find out.. and i know everyone is different and reacts differently. i think i will wait a few more hours and take the sub, i really can't afford to deal with the w/d that can be avoided if i just wait... but if anyone has any experience with how bbad my w/d (if bad at all) should be, from .5 - 1mg of sub for about a year, please let me know.. thank you.

So I don't think this helps YOU necessarily but when I first got on suboxone I was taking about 250 - 300mg oxycodone each day and my doctor told me since I had taken 40mg that morning( about 8:30) not to take ANYTHING else and we would start treatment the morning after... well I couldn't hold out and ended up taking 60mg of oxy at about 5:15pm that evening... the next morning he dosed me at 4mg suboxone around 9:45am and everything was fine... I didn't go into P.W.D.'s at all...

and I KNOW everyone is different but I was just giving my experience....

****I HAVE A QUESTION OF MY OWN:

When I first started taking my sub I would feel pretty good... almost a boost of energy for a good 4 hours or so but now it seems like every time I take it I get EXTREMELY lethargic... My eyes get very heavy and red and I can barely stay awake... anyone know what could be causing this??? I'm prescribed 24mg a day but I only take about 16-20.... depending on how bad I feel...

With Subs Log halflife and all,are the withdrawals at al similar to methadone withdrawal?I mean Intensity and Duration wise...I know people Demonize Methadone due to the w/d's,but I would rather Pay 150$ Monthly for methadone, then the 400-500 Dollars That I hear people Pay for month of bupe......Like my local methadone Clinic is 5 Dollars a day, regardless of the Dose, and thats only for people without insurance,I pay nothing...Are Subs covered by most insurance Plans?Cuz the prices seem really really steep.

I personally wouldn't pick subs,as its far to expensive for me,And I've actually grown to like Methadone...If I had the choice of the 2 for maitenance(which I dont)I would take the methadone.I like that I have(had)to go to the clinic daily or once a week,That way I always have my dose,If I was given two weeks worth of sub pills,I would probably be out in a few days.Thats another reason I like methadoneDrinking the oral solution is one step away from IV drug use, though with Subs I would probably end up slamming them, plugging them snorting them etc...
