thanks for the reply left. I'v actually been reading here for a while and had an account before but lost the pw and e-mail. I knew about this thread but didn't know that new questions were to be directed to it also. Anywhoo thanks for letting me know. Sorry about the misconception

Can using suboxone once a week lead to minor withdrawals?

Hey everyone I am posting on behalf of a friend in need. He has been using suboxone by snorting about 1 mg every friday or saturday for about 2 or 3 months now. Never more than once per week, no other opiates during the week either. Once in a while he would forego to subs to indulge in percocets or take a week off.

In the last month he noticed that on the first monday he got sick, meaning muscle aches, skin feeling like sunburn, very tired, shitty malaise feeling, headache, and low appetite. But he claims absolutely no problems sleeping, nausea, vomiting, or shits. On the second monday after indulging in percocet no such sickness and the usual afterglow the day after dosing. The third monday he used subs again and experienced the same sickness.

Normally I would not waste BLs time asking on his behalf and just chalk it up to WDs but there have also been a slew of sickness around our university recently that fits these symptoms closely. Also I am a bit puzzled at his lack of nausea and shits even if it was minor withdrawals. Also he has been horse and stuffy in general following these sicknesses which could just be a weakened immune system from withdrawaling. Further why would he WD from subs but not from enough oxycodone to get very high? Could the subs just be responsible for compromising his immune system or is the long half life of buprenorphrine enough to cause WDs with low dose once per week use?

I agree with Chris, it sounds like he is just sick. I don't believe the subs could be fucking with his immune system like that either. Other than that if he is taking the sub too close to his last dose of oxy he could be expiriencing acute withdrawal. Bupe seems like a very weird substance to abuse especially seeing he already uses oxy recreationaly, I'm surprised he gets any fun out of it at all. I'd say picking one or the other may be the way to go for him as it doesn't sound like he's dependent and I'm not sure the same time tables would work for him as they do for maintenance patients. Does the sickness last or is it short as in a few hours tops? If it is short it could very well be precipitated withdrawal.

Just heard about suboxone, looking for someone to answer a few questions for me...

Hi all,

I have had an addiction to opiates for almost 10 years. On top of that, I am a heavy drinker, so I know my liver hates me, probably the kidneys too.

I quit, relapsed, quit, relapsed, you know the deal. I have never heard of suboxone (just googled it, know more about it).

What I want to know is how I can get Suboxone. I know the obvious is to ask my doctor, but my doctor does not know I have a problem with opiates. He nave has prescribed them for me. It's a habit I keep to myself, and I can't keep doing it.

I've read that suboxone can really help. Has anyone had luck? I'm just curious about how I can talk to my doctor or someone about it.

Is there somewhere I can go, or should I seek a new doctor? I live in the Los Angeles area, so i'm sure every option is out here.

Thanks for the help, seriously. Feel free to PM me.

Suboxone is a great drug for opiate/opiod dependency. There is a doctor finder on the rickett and kinser website although I'm not too sure on the spelling (at all). They are the manufacturers of the drug and only certain doctors can prescribe the drug so hopefully there is a doctor real close to you. Good luck and welcome to bluelight

Didn't mean to double post but the doctor for suboxone is in a clinic like setting and would only be for setting up a program for ya. Its expensive without insurance so hopefully you are well covered... O ya I'm assuming you are in the US if not I'm sorry but I really don't know...

Glad I could help. There's also the suboxone/bupenorphine MEGA thread located in the mega thread sticky at the top of the page.

Suboxone for me works great. It kills cravings and keeps me from getting sick although everyone is different. I can't say I'm completely clean either but I don't get my suboxone from a doctor so...

Suboxone is great if you really want to quit. It lasts fairly long and blocks out opiates. If you stay on it you won't have to worry about relapsing as much because you have to wait at least 24 hours to start using traditional opiates.

Unlike other (full agonist) opioids, buprenorphine appears to have very little or no effect on the immune system (see here, for example). And naloxone reverses morphine-induced immunosuppression. So no, the Suboxone probably did not have an effect on his immune system.

(Although it seems withdrawal from morphine in dependent subjects can cause immunosupression. See here.)

i read about 12 pages in and i didn't see anything about this, but if it has been covered, please tell me what page or where.

Q: I am on 16-24 mgs a day, for maybe 3 months. how long would i have to stop to lower my tolerance to suboxone??

i know everyone says you don't get high off it, but that's a matter of opinion. no one will deny it makes you feel good for a week or 2 when you start unless you were shooting 50 bundles of dope before.

I've tried 1-3 days but after that i get sick. anyone tried to quit, gave up, got back on subs and felt a buzz, even if it wasn't what you felt when you started?

basically, i want to lower my tolerance to subs but not quit, and am trying to make a pattern of using/quitting to i can maintain a buzz [or whatever the fuck you call it] when i do take it.

First of all, congrats on getting on Suboxone.

Second, you're dose is way too high. Suboxone is expensive and you're spending a lot of money you don't need too. I don't care how many bags you were shooting a day, 8mg a day is plenty. Most people don't feel a difference in dose at all past 8mg or 12mg. Meaning, 8mg feels the exact same as 24mg.

You could immediately go from 24mg a day to 8mg a day and not notice a difference. So you should do that now. Stay at 8mg for a week or two, then go down to 6mg. The next week, go down to 4mg. The difference between 4mg and 8mg a day is very little.

A lot of people (including me) have reported a phenomenon with Suboxone that taking less produces more effects (to a point, obviously). I feel better on 4mg than I would on 12mg.

There are a lot of doctors that don't quite know as much as they should about Suboxone. Too many doctors prescribe a daily dose higher than is truly needed. Mine started me out at 16mg as well.

I take 4mg a day right now, and usually take 2mg in the morning and 2mg later.

The thing you have to be aware of is your drug abuse mentality that tells you more is better. In this case, less is often more. Once you get down to the 2mg or 4mg a day range, taking double your dose should produce a decent buzz.

I planned a Hydrocodone relapse over the weekend. After my last dose of Hydrocodone, I waited 24 hours and started to feel mild withdrawal symptoms (yawning, lacrimation, cold/hot flashes) and took my 2mg dose of Suboxone.

I felt as if I experienced about 30 minutes of moderate precipitated withdrawals, followed by a pretty decent high.

Hey I am looking for someone to look over the plan I have created for my first suboxone taper. I already have 6 weeks sober on suboxone, PM me if you can help, thanks.

Hi,
I have a quick question. I have been taking on average 50 mgs of hydrocodone per day for a few months. I just got an 8 mg suboxone and was wondering if i will get high from it if i take it in the morning when i go to work 12 hours from now? I have taken 40 mgs of lortab today. Considering i am not taking an extreme amount of lortabs, but i have been taking them for a while and have chills and mild withdrawal symptons for 2 or 3 days if i can't get them. Please help!

am i safe to take suboxone?

i have read all the threads on here and I know everyone's case is different. So i would like to know, if i can take suboxone within 12-14 hours after using heroin? I use H everyday, but not much anywhere for .3-.6 grams. i took about 1.5 mg of suboxone a while ago 12 hours after H and it didn't really do much at all...no WD kinda made me feel slightly better. I just want to know cause i don't feel too hot right now and i wanna get some H and do it, then wake up tomorrow and wait a hour or so and take some suboxone.
ty all for your time

^ You have to wait until you are in withdrawals to take suboxone after taking heroin/morphine/oxy/etc. You don't have to wait until you are totally sick and puking, but wait until you start to feel uncomfortable and you will be clear. If you take it too early, you will go into precipated (forced) withdrawals for a while (usually not more than 1-2 hours, could be different for different people), but after that you will feel the normal suboxone feel.

yeah i have been through it all before, prob takin it everyway possible, been throught the miserable withdrawl, just wanted some outside knowedge on if its a good idea, i am not doin very good dope, and not much at all, i feel sick within 12 hours. did a shot at noon today, and it is mid night right now, and iam sick, not massivly but uncomfotable, sweating, chills, no nausia not to that point, but deff starting. i get sick so soon because the dope i am doing is not stayin in my body for very long cause its no good. i used to do dope that had me high and well for 24+ hours, this crap is booboo. i think i will be okay, just wanted to see what everyone else thinks
