a friend of mine who lives in the bronx, was paid to be part of the clinical trials in manhatten. however, he didnt mention anyone getting it in their arm... it was placed in his lower abdomen, near the appendix and right kidney.
the first month or so, he was kept there inpatient, for observation. then they discharged him, and he had to report back 4 times a week at the scheduled times, to receive his payment at the end of the trial.
after he realized they werent really drug testing him, he started occasionally using heroin again.
long story short, the withdrawls still came, and he was sure the 'pellet' they inserted, was long gone within 8 weeks.
he ended up being honest with them, and still received his $3,300 i believe, at the end of the trial.
reading his report later, they blamed his experience with 'the metabolism of a healthy young male'.
this guy is not a healthy young male. you ever read 'the junkie' by jack kerouc? or see those 20something streetkid junkies with vintage clothes and beatles haircuts who hang out near grand central and union square? yea, hes one of those....
he said the pellet insertion would only be effective for people who, like, get caught selling there suboxone/subutex script for dope money.
now that i think about it... i guess that means itd be effective for a good percentage of people. damn, nevermind. 8)
