I told my dr I had been on adderall previously but didn't like that it wore off so fast, after getting all my tests done she told me that well try some medications out, each week is a higher mg for a month, ending at 80mg.. why would she put me on a lower adhd medication after I've been on adderall?
 
No idea. Doesn't make much sense to me either, but I'm not a doctor.

If the Strattera doesn't work, talk to your doctor, she should tell you why she decided to switch you to something else.
 
Strattera is crap. It isn't an amphetamine. It doesn't work very well for ADHD, and it doesn't get you high. At all. I am not sure why she would have downgraded you.. I guess like you said, she wants to try some different meds. You can simply tell her it doesn't work, next time you see her. Just there isn't a huge selection of meds for add. Adderal is very common, and there is dexedrine, ritalin, desoxyn, vyvanse.

Were you taking adderal XR? Or just the instant relase ones. If they were the IR, she should have simply switched you to the XR adderal since they last a rather long time.
 
exactly I figured she would give me something to make it last or just take maybe two a day morning/afternoon?
I just took a stratera pill and im yawning like i haven't slept in years im usually so bouncy
im worried, I go tocollege 40hrs a week and have to be alert, is this common to be so tired?
adderall made me feel alive, driven, and focus I just wanted it to last longer?
 
A simple switch to Adderall XR, Dexedrine XR or Vyvanse would have solved that for you.

From what you've said, the Strattera isn't working, which isn't a surprise.

Tell your doctor that its not working...since its not.
 
I was trying to tread light water while talking to her since I know plenty of of ppl in my class alone trying to get adhd meds to stay on top of things Im afraid shell assume im drug seeking I want to just try it tell her um Noooo not working but how can I tell her I want something like dexedrine or even just adderall W.o. her thinking im just researching and trying to get high? ne ideas? :/
 
Just be honest with her about the Strattera not working.

I can't really tell you any more than that, I can't tell you what to tell your doctor for the purposes of acquiring controlled substances...
 
I agree, i just talked to a friend who after a month on it said the fatigue was horrible and was completely unmotivated. I can't afford to lose 1month of focus.. im going to take two pills tomorrow maybe it'll workout better, or maybe ill be passed out mid class session lol

when i told my doc about how i didnt think it was helping shes like what do you want to try concerta or some speed, im like uhhh is this a trick question 8)

Haha exactlyyy what i mean. They assume your there to get high which i guess they have some reason to assume that.. but i mean.. without the patient... there is no dr. GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT! haha.. but anyways.. i think that you know you best. and if i think that this is shit and is going to make me tired and you horney and awake way too early.. just so you can have a longer day of unfocused weird behavior.. thannnnnnnn she or he needs to listen.
Im kind of wondering if maybe she would try to sugar pill me? she has no reason to suspect im drug seeking but i hear a lot of dr. are trying it these days.. like a lot... thats disturbing.. at least that im spending money to be killing my liver.. not increasing my sugar intake. haha some expensive assss candy.
 
i was started on strattera before anything. same thing as you start at low dose and after like 30 days your on to 80mg. i never made it past 40mg haha. it was the worst. nothing but side effects, ED, fatigue, burning pee, ect. i told my doctor this and to switch me on to something like vyvanse. she did it. but she kind of put up a fight because the thing she argued about was that with stattera your suppose to work through the side effects for like 2 or 3 weeks. then get the good effects. my doctor wanted me to keep going since i was giving up after one week but weeks with side effects just isnt worth it. some doctors will listen and let you try sometihing else so best to just tell your doctor its not working.
