Ok, so in December I quit poppy pods after only about 6 months of use. This lasted like a week and a half, when I ran across a "stash" I forgot about and decided I would indulge....Yeah I feel like an idiot now but damn the pull is strong. Luckily I just got VERY mild w/d symptoms - I don't feel it set me back too far, aside from the fact that I have to start counting clean days again :-(. I ran out of my benzo script (rather not get dependent on those anyway
) but I still get those flashes of either extreme anxiety or just that feeling like I'm wanting to jump out of my skin. I assume this is PAWS? Really that is the only symptom I have anymore, I am (again) a little over a week clean.
I work from home, so I am alone most of the day. My wife is gone most every day, so I spend my time on the computer working. Something I noticed, and I know this is goofy as all hell, but when I get that crappy anxious feeling, I'll put on some solid music and sing along out loud. I feel it tends to work best with fast music, as that's the speed my thoughts are running, FAST lol.
Anyway, two things:
- I think this MAY have some scientific backing to it, as singing has been shown to reduce stress: http://www.emeraldinsight.com/journals.htm?articleid=871806&show=abstract
- Has anyone else done this?
As a disclaimer, I don't believe people with EXTREME anxiety would probably get much out of this, and it's not an option for most people unless you want to be the lunatic in your office :-D. But if you happen to be in that position, its something that works for me that I thought others might benefit from.
EDIT: Mods if this is the wrong place for this type of discussion feel free to move it!
