I really don't have much of an issue with WDs or negative side-effects from dosing between 30 and 50 mgs usually of clonazepam in 2-3 weeks, then stopping. I've been scripted 2mg of clonazepam a day (60 mgs for 30 days of course) for about 9 months, but always sell/trade a portion of my script resulting in at least a week off from using any benzos. Yeah, I may not sleep as well (I have sleep problems, so this is the primary cause for this) and have an easier time becoming anxious, but it's hardly what I call a WD (I've WD'd from a variety of substances, though never benzos, they can build a physical dependence pretty slow if you dose in such a way). I really am not a big fan of being scripted benzos, especially with having a methadone dependence (30mg/day), due to the threat of a terrible WD and neuromodulation, so I try to only dose 2-3 weeks a month (try to keep my doses below 6mg [max] - it's not like benzos are very recreational imo anyway, especially clonazepam). I feel that if I was scripted alprazolam I may feel a little bit more potential WD effects due to way shorter half-life (esp with a build up of clonazepam plasma concentration over a few days), or if I was scripted diazepam I may as well due to the very long half-life, potentially resulting in a build up of levels in the plasma (keeping the diazepam in the body with out having to necessarily dose once again - similar to methadone). I may exhibit the same lack of WD effect even if I was using some other benzos instead, I dunno.
Basically I feel one can avoid negative effects from cessation of benzos easier than opioids or even amphetamine if one takes breaks after even daily use for over a week, doesn't take doses of ridiculous levels (ridiculous doses can rapidly sensitize receptors causing a massive increase in tolerance, longer period of time till elimination), doesn't chase a particular feeling/high (like thinking one has to have euphoria with a amphetamine dose for it to be considered to be working [therapeutically for ADHD], so they keep upping the dose), etc. I can be clean of opioids, dose one for a week daily, jump off and hit WDs pretty bad, but even with a tolerance built already with benzos (almost the same with opioids [higher for opioids]), a week of daily use (can be dosed multi times in the days) will not produce any WDS unless my doses are stupidly high if I jumped off. Even amphetamines will end up with me being depressed with some suicidial thoughts after a weeks use. I'm very thankful of this attribute with benzos, as in my current place in life, benzos are useful therapeutically in combo with methadone, but I don't want to be on them for to long or gain a dependency. I'll probably substitute the benzos for weed at night a few times a week down the road, but thats not a possibility at the moment.
