If you have a depression or anxiety problem serious enough to be taking SSRIs for, its probably not a good idea to stop taking them in order to roll. Some people report that even weeks or months after stopping SSRIs they're still not able to roll properly, and considering that SSRIs often have pretty bad withdrawal effects on their own, longterm funking around with your serotonin chemistry for a 4 hour high with its own negative comedown is probly not the greatest idea.
Sort out your issues with the help of your physician and have them taper the SSRI down slowly, or convince them to switch you to an antidepressant that doesn't interfere with rolling, such as Wellbutrin or Remeron.
Hey didn't just stop taking it, he went to his Dr and asked him to cut his dose in half and slowly weaned himself off of it over a 3 wk period.Anyone who is on an antidepressant should not be rolling. You will not get the benefit of the medication if you don't take it as prescribed. If you feel that you should not be on an antidepressant then that is something that needs to be sorted with you GP so that you can taper off the medication safely.
Stopping a prescribed med to roll is irresponsible. Why bother asking your doctor to help you if you aren't going to listen?
These are general statments, I understand the OP was talking about her husband.
Thanks! Last year when his job switched his hours from 5 in the morning to 1am he started getting panic attacks. So that's y he was on zoloft, anxiety. As for y he stopped, that's my fault. We haven't rolled since a month be4 he got prescribed the zoloft and I missed it so I talked him into weening himself off the zoloft....BTW, Welcome.![]()
Thanks for ur adviceunfortunetly for me i learned the hard way. while all the while for about a year i was on prozac, i knew i had awesome rolls but id always ended up frustrated never achieving the positive effects of the mdma. thats was well over a decade ago. From experience, id say, wait for about 2wks to a full month or more to fully rid any residuals of any anti-depressants(SSRI) from the body. Post SSRI therapy, the effects of MDMA, are very rewarding.
