My husband stopped taking zoloft 4 days be4 we did Molly... The high was awesome, but was it a good idea or does anyone think he should have waited longer?
Thanks everyone

O and I'm new 2 bluelight so hey everyone!!

hey.. well i am relatively new to bluelight too, however welcome!!, i aint no where near as smart as people on ere.
personally i take zoloft and have been for approx 14 months, was a regular used of mdma b4 the zoloft..
i have used mdma whilst taking zoloft 50mg and noticed no negative side effects however no positive effects either, zoloft basically killed the mdma which people can say in technical terms, but yeh it killed it. proably honestly consumed mdma 10 times whilst on 50 mg of zoloft and really would only feel the effects of the meth that the pill was probably bunked up with.

and now i am taking only 20-25 mg of zoloft i still attempt to use mdma. i do notice the effects of the mdma, no where near as good as when i had no zoloft but i do get my moneys worth. i deppending on the dose he was taking which is commonly 50mg the chemical sertraline hydrochloride has a half life, so in theory 1 day without down from 50mg to 25mg, next day 25 down to 12.5 mgs and so forward.

personally i am no expert and i cant say over the internet that its okay but in my time of fuking around with chemicals it hasnt ever had a negative effect on me. and as far as chemical interactions go.. they are fine not considered dangerous. :)

I am also prescribed zoloft but do not take it because it ruins the roll as the above poster stated.

Zoloft is an SSRI. What an SSRI does is block the uptake of the sertotonin once it is released, from binding with the receptors.

So when you take the MDMA, it is not allowing the serotonin to be binded therefore negating the effects.

Since zoloft takes several weeks to take full effect, and you must keep dousing your body with it on a regular basis, it takes a long time to completely empty your system of it in order to acheive a good roll.

You would probably roll lightly to possibly moderate after 2 weeks of complete halting of zoloft, and would probably roll pretty good after a month or more of stopping it. Hope this helps

If you have a depression or anxiety problem serious enough to be taking SSRIs for, its probably not a good idea to stop taking them in order to roll. Some people report that even weeks or months after stopping SSRIs they're still not able to roll properly, and considering that SSRIs often have pretty bad withdrawal effects on their own, longterm funking around with your serotonin chemistry for a 4 hour high with its own negative comedown is probly not the greatest idea.

Sort out your issues with the help of your physician and have them taper the SSRI down slowly, or convince them to switch you to an antidepressant that doesn't interfere with rolling, such as Wellbutrin or Remeron.

This.

Most SSRI's, though I am not sure about the exact numbers for Zoloft have a pretty long half-life, so it is best to be off of them for an extended period of time, weeks, perhaps even months before using MDMA to avoid causing issues with your serotonin. However, its a very good point that if you have anxiety serious enough for you to be prescribed said SSRI's, it really isn't in your best interest to get off of them for the sake of using MDMA only. I have heard positive things about people switching from Zoloft, Prozac, etc... to Wellbutrin and still use MDMA effectively and safely. I would talk to your doctor about it.

On a side note, I have seen a huge influx of recent new posters from Oregon, and I love it, gotta love the Pacific Northwest.

Anyone who is on an antidepressant should not be rolling. You will not get the benefit of the medication if you don't take it as prescribed. If you feel that you should not be on an antidepressant then that is something that needs to be sorted with you GP so that you can taper off the medication safely.

Stopping a prescribed med to roll is irresponsible. Why bother asking your doctor to help you if you aren't going to listen?

These are general statments, I understand the OP was talking about her husband.

You should wait AT LEAST 2 weeks before rolling after coming off ssris.

At least thats what my drug therapist said, and I would trust her.

Hey didn't just stop taking it, he went to his Dr and asked him to cut his dose in half and slowly weaned himself off of it over a 3 wk period.

But also I just wanted to tell everyone thanks for all the responses it really helped and ya the pacific northwest is awesome!:)

I'm amazed he was even able to fully roll with only 4 days off. I was on celexa and couldn't roll decently for over a month. lol It suckkked.

Why was he on zoloft? I'm assuming for depression or anxiety? Was his sole reason for stopping the medcation so he could do ecstasy or? Ecstasy can aggrivate depression/anxiety, esp. if over used... so I would be careful.

BTW, Welcome. :)
Thanks! Last year when his job switched his hours from 5 in the morning to 1am he started getting panic attacks. So that's y he was on zoloft, anxiety. As for y he stopped, that's my fault. We haven't rolled since a month be4 he got prescribed the zoloft and I missed it so I talked him into weening himself off the zoloft....

unfortunetly for me i learned the hard way. while all the while for about a year i was on prozac, i knew i had awesome rolls but id always ended up frustrated never achieving the positive effects of the mdma. thats was well over a decade ago. From experience, id say, wait for about 2wks to a full month or more to fully rid any residuals of any anti-depressants(SSRI) from the body. Post SSRI therapy, the effects of MDMA, are very rewarding.
