Got to be careful about your methods though to oppose them or you will end up being just as bad as them and defeat the whole purpose.

look out your window. Do you see a revolution? I thought not. It takes more than a few marxixst to start a revolution. Yes the time is near, and yes I'm in a few organizations that are pushing people to be ready for it. I can't just up and revolt and assume it will go off w/out a hitch. It must be done at the propper time. Sometime after the 2008 election, when we either have another right radical or a republican lite democrat, the American people will be ready. They will atleast be sick and hungry enough.

I don't eat cheetos

I might own 6 pairs of shoes...but I loath TV. And cheetos are good with the munchies.

This happens can happen to anyone regardless of intelligence. Trust is an easy thing to abuse.

I didn't make it entirely clear before, and I probably won't again, but here goes.

Gandhi was mistreated and responded with peace and so did MLK JR. As did Jesus (whether or not you believe he is God, His teachings [not an organized religion's] are good and pacifistic). This is why these people are remebered and why they won so much support.

Again, this is easy for me to say, its an idea.

I think I am going to start a thread in Thought and Awareness about private property (rather than take this thread radically off topic). I think man might be too evil to not try and take as much property as he can (IE a group forms and beats the crap out of one guy, takes his land, moves to next, etc.)

^^ that last statement is a result of a propaganda infested education. People learn to steal, it isn't inherent in humans. You should read a book called "the story of B." It would be a good into to this concept.

and to the rest of it. There is a reason that christianity has thrived in slave states. Sit ins are one thing. Being a gracious subordinant is another.

and a thread in T&A is going to be a headache(IMHO). It is a far too complex subject to be argued in a broken linear fasion. If you are really interested, reading some marxist papers would be a good start.

The revolution has already started and you're not supposed to see it, that's the point. A silent war. Look around a little closer and harder ;) Don't be looking for explosions because that's not what this revolution is about or how it works until maybe in the end if it succedes far enough.

OH no sorry..... I wasn't talking about the preppy white kid revolution where a bunch of college kids smoke pot in their dorms and listen to sublime songs.

I was talking about the real one, where the masses of the working class bum rush the white house and economic centers with weapons. The one i'm talking about starts with blood and ends with silence.

"Communism is "anarchy." It just isn't called that because of the negative connotation. -- bleedingheartcommie

Actually, that statement is incorrect. There are many schools of communism: Marxism, Leninism, Trotskyism, Marxism-Leninism, Stalinism, Franklinism, Maoism, Juche, Anarcho-Communism, Titoism, Left communism, Council- communism, and Eurocommunism. Although there is little theoretical diference between Marxism and Anarcho-Communism, Marxism does advocate (prescribe) the need for the proletariate to assume state power-- a temporary socialist government to aid in the transition from a non-communist to communist state. Anarcho-Communists prescribe the immediate unilateral abolition of all authority.

"After the revolution in Cuba, social stratification was almost eliminated, and as a result almost all crime was gone too. Once everyone can fulfil their basic needs, and there is no class difference, then there really is little to no reason to steal or harm others." --bleedingheartcommie

To use Cuba as a model for social reform is, in my opinion, a grave error in your analysis. Free speech is limited and dissidents are persecuted. Also, it has been forced to accept some capitalist measures in its economy due to the collapse of the USSR. And, yes, to eliminate private owndership, (and thus class struggle), is a pragmatically sound way to eliminate much violence and crime, however, when the Central Committee takes on the aspects of a ruling class, what, in the end, has really been acomplished?

A major problem is people saying well where is the revolution?

Well the revolution Is coming its just not instant. We will have our day our revolution. But it takes mass support and time. The bourgeis cant be overthrown in a night. It takes time and planning.

A friend of mine put it to me really well:

"There are good cops and there are bad cops, but I've never met a single good cop."

the only difference is how you get there. Yes, there are different theories on how to get to a communist state, but the term communism (a noun) is the absence of a government. communism is the finally utopia, not the means of achieving it

I didn't use it as a model for social reform, i just used it to show the causal relationship b/w crime and class conflict.

what has been accomplished is socialism. not communism. It isn't the goal. It is working towards it.

I envy the optimism of people such as yourself, but I have grave concerns over its accuracy. The world has diminishing resources and a growing population. This is not a recipe for harmonious, consensus-driven distribution of resources.

lol. Well each world has their own way of dealing with overpopulation if you watch Sliders. We send them to war to die after filling their heads with lies. We use war for population control and that's part of the reason I think that we even use war or go for such stupid reasons in the first place.

hhhmmmmm.....

Hate only hurts the self. A person's emotions can't hurt another, just there actions. We all agree not to go physically attack the police, besides being a dumb idea because of incarceration (which should convince everyone who would like to avoid jail). This would lend me to state that being angry only upsets the self and accomplishes nothing positive.

result:

Stay low and know your rights.

Treat others as you would want to be treated?

And if your a pacifist or relatively peaceful person, than you wouldn't want to harm anyone anyways.

I'll try and field arguemnts as they come, if they come.

TURN THE OTHER CHEEK

The pacifist ethic to bear insults without complaint and to turn the other cheek is related to the ethic to love one's enemy. Here the emphasis is as much on the individual's internal attitude as it is upon the other's welfare. If a person responds to evil in anger or self-defense, he becomes attached to the evil and it can dominate him. The anger and hatred of his attacker is transmuted into his own anger and resentment at being a victim, and he loses his balance and spiritual strength. But by bearing and accepting insults and abuse without diminution of his own goodwill and mental concentration, he can stay above the hatred and preserve a foundation of spiritual independence and self-possession. Ultimately, it is only by preserving his spiritual subjectivity in the midst of the insults that a person can have the strength to love his enemy and win him over. We include several striking examples: from the Lotus Sutra of a monk who is victorious through never disparaging his abusers, and the prophet Isaiah's servant of the Lord.
The concluding passages also deal with the justice of turning the other cheek. They assume an inexorable principle of Divine Justice, pp. 183-91, which will set things right and even vindicate the victim's passivity. Paul argues that worldly retribution would mitigate the punishment of God, hence, by not acting, the believer will heap burning coals upon the head of his adversary. The Sutra of Forty-two Sections likewise speaks to the demerit which will come to the evildoer when his insult is accepted without responding. The victim, on the other hand, gains merit through enduring persecution and building the virtue of patience.

Let there be no injury and no requital.

For what reason was he named Never Despise? Because he paid respect to and commended everybody he saw, monks, nuns, men and women disciples; speaking thus, "I deeply revere you. Wherefore? Because you are walking in the bodhisattva way and are to become Buddhas." That monk did not devote himself to reading and reciting the sutras, but only to paying respect, so that when he saw afar off a member of the four classes of disciples he would specially go and pay respect to them, saying, "I dare not slight you, because you are all to become Buddhas." Amongst the four classes, there were those who, irritated and angry and low-minded, reviled and abused him, saying, "Where does this ignorant monk come from, who takes it on himself to say, 'I do not slight you,' and who predicts us as destined to become Buddhas? We need no such false predictions." Thus he passed many years, constantly reviled but never irritated or angry, always saying, "You are to become Buddhas." Whenever he spoke thus, they beat him with clubs, sticks, potsherds, or stones. But, while escaping to a distance, he stilled cried aloud, "I dare not slight you. You are all to become Buddhas." And because he always spoke thus, the haughty monks, nuns, and their disciples dubbed him Never Despise.
