Still don't like weed? Part two

I think its really sad that so many people know so many other people that just sit around and let pot take over their lives.
Do you think that it could be because you just don't notice the people who don't let it take over their lives?? I smoked daily for two years and held down a full time programming job. There was another guy who worked with me who smoked even more than I did and he is probably the best coder that I know. You would never have guessed that we were stoners (well maybe me, but thats just cos I had long hair and a beard :p ). We were proffesional people, going about our day. It just happened to be that we got stoned with a lot of our spare time. And no, when I got stoned, I would go round others houses, go to the pub, not just sit there and be dumb and quiet and stupid. People who are like that are lightweights ;)
If stoner culture involves being on the dole and never doing anything, then I agree. I don't like it. I just think that it isn't that simple.
My stoner culture is to get stoned and go to modern art galleries, find new music to appreciate, go to the movies, have deep conversations from a new perspective. I know a LOT of people who are the same.
Please don't stereotype us! Its like saying that if you like taking E then you are a Kandy Raving E-Tard.

My bf smoke often. But it doesn't mean he gets stoned all the time.
I don't like pot at all..but I WILL NOT create a thread to bitch about his pot preference.

LOL!! I understand Saddam's regime quite well. I understand how it was 100% fully supported by the US in the 1980's when the US gave Saddam the chemical weapons with which to gas the Kurds and didn't say a dammed thing about it at the time. That certainly doesn't give the US the moral authority to bomb millions of innocent Iraqi people, just as US bombs senselessly killed 3,000,000 people in Vietnam and Cambodia. Pot is a peace drug. Sounds like you need some more than me, war-monger.

Plainly and simply, if you are going to form negative opinions about other people, you shouldn't be surprised when other people form negative opinions about you. IOW, if they are going to have a hate thread, they should expect an occasional flame. Obviously, they weren't. I guess they figured all the potheads would just be passive. :)

I think the voice of the opposition has created a rather intersting thread randycaver. Everyone has been able to say their peace and that's the idea right? Perhaps you didn't want a debate to generate out of this "lighthearted" topic but bluelight is all about thoughtful discourse and sharing differing perspectives isn't it? It seems inevitable that people will find their ideas challenged and in need of an elaborated defense when they post on the board. It's good for the mind and spirit to hear from the devil's advocate. I'm sorry if you feel like it was ruined. I feel like it was improved.

No one said anything about hating PEOPLE -- some of us merely hate WEED and its surrounding culture -- but that is not the same as hating STONERS...so PLEASE don't put words in our mouths!
I like plenty of stoners....my ex bf, my fiance, many of my friends...I don't like weed, and I don't like some of their actions, but I still like THEM as people.

If you don't like it don't smoke it and quit your bitching about it. It's nice you felt the incessant need to come on a message board just to complain " Booooohoo I can;t handle pot smoking."
That's great and all but no one is holding a gun to your face telling you to smoke a spliff, and if they are get some new room mates.

I smoke pot and have done for some time. I like to smoke, I like to get my friends stoned, I like to listen to/create music, I like to have conversations that are interesting to me, view films, discuss art and I often like to sit on my arse watching TV and munching out when I don't have anything better to do (ie - work, college, socialising, sitting in the pub). But hang on a second, I liked to do all these things *before* I started smoking herb.
More to point, it doesnt matter if I smoke once a month or once an hour, what I do as a consenting adult is entirely up to me. It's not a concern of anyone elses and I don't deserve to be stereo typed by anyone for anything I do in my spare time. Nor does anyone else for that matter. If you don't like it, don't let it cloud your thoughts so much, find something else to enrich your life or atleast keep it to yourself if your soul purpose is to spread negativity.
In short, quit your f00kin bitching!

I agree that:
a) this thread has been quite interesting to read because of its debate and therefore not ruined.
&
b) that weed IS a peace drug and I wholeheartedly feel that the world would be slightly a better place if more people smoked some of it and lightened up a bit.
Who is to judge who is a productive member of society and who isn't? Why is that random road trip (as fun as it can be) necessarily better for EVERYONE than an afternoon spent relaxing at home? This world (western culture at least) has become SO materialistic and shallow minded that people dont know how to find beauty in simplicity anymore. Over the years herb has taught me humility, gratitude and appreciation for life.
On my worst days when i want to angrily cut people off on the freeway, worry about my next paycheck, fight with my girlfriend, feel down for not having all the luxury toys that TV feeds me, or whatever else...at the end of the day I exhale that wonderful cannabis smoke and realize how truly trivial it all is. I feel joy to have made it alive off the freeway and hope everyone else did too. i realize that each day i spend with my loved ones could be the last and i want them to know how much i love them.
it is quite close - minded to think that EVERYONE who YOU associate with a certain substance has thrown their life away. There is a lot more to people than meets the eye. Marijuana has helped me to find happiness in the little things in life. And thanks to the love for mother nature that i have developed as a result, it saddens me to see people blatantly piss on this planets environment and resources for short term economic and personal gains.
So drive your fucking Hummer on your "road trips" if you want to, and flash some bling-bling as you hit the boulevard if you must. I'll be chillin' at home, smokin' a blunt and hoping you dont run anyone off the freeway.

How can you be on a bluelight forum and have a post about hating pot? Pot is one of (if the THE) least damaging drugs out there and you cannot die from smoking it. Cigarettes are more damaging for crying out loud.
 
i dont mind the drug pot. read what i said.
i think it should be decriminalized.

I happen to like what surrounds it, even though I very rarely actually smoke it.
I like glass pipes/water pipes. It seems like Marijuana Culture is pretty much the only drug culture that has such a neat art built into it. I and alotta my buddies have a high respect for the pieces of art that we smoke out of. Just as much respect, as a matter of fact, as we have for the weed itself!
We don't just get high in any way possible. We love to find some really high quality bud like White Widow or Dutch Passion, and savor the flavor while smoking out of the prettiest, smoothest hitting piece we have. It can actually be a quite spiritual experience for us.

Please, no flaming in this thread. We've had some excellent disscussion re the pro's and con's of weed and I don't want to close this thread. But, if it degenerates any further, I'm gonna have to send this to the locked archive thread in the sky.
 
My bad... also a big disadvantage of pot (when smoked) is the smell. Very hard to get away with when you compare it to other drugs like pills or powders etc.

But fuck the whole "I don't get weed shit".. there is nothing to "get" with weed. It's all in your head.
