I would never automatically defer to somebody just because they spent more of their life in school than me.
I've met many Doctors that didn't know what the hell they were talking about when it came to more specific sciences. The fact of the matter is, that most GP doctors do very little real work. Most people's problems can be solved by prescribing what the person knew that they needed in the first place. If you asked me what person I could impersonate better, an uneducated mechanic, or a highly educated Doctor, then I would say Doctor all day long. Some medical professionals are just plain wrong, and hold onto arbitrary ideas of what is acceptable. Some of these ideas are as unfounded as yours. They associated steroids with the big tough asshole guy from an 80s Van Damm movie. From that, they decided that steroids were wrong, then built reasons why. Instead of researching reasons, THEN making a decision about whether or not it is wrong.
You eventually conceded that you might be wrong and mislead, but you initially came in here to stir up shit. You came here for righteous confrontation. Admitting to be wrong is a very mature thing to do, admitting to the idea that led to this behavior is even more mature.
"You're right, I guess I originally came here because I felt right about something, and saw an opportunity to argue about it. Now that I'm aware of the error in my behavior, I'll remember this, and try to think before I act in the future"
But whatever, to each their own degree of growing up.
Listen I honest to God did not come here to stir up shit. Perhaps that was the outcome, but that honestly was not my planned intention. I started the "steroids and sports-is it fair" thread thinking it would be a discussion about the fairness of not only what I thought was only a few minority PED Users but the fairness of the punishments they received. I admit I wanted stricter sanctions. But instead I got just about everyone in the thread that all the athletes use PED's and only a few get caught. I'm a big sports fan and I was shocked at what I was being told. I didn't want to believe it. Now I have to admit that at the very least there's no evidence that most the athletes don't use PED's. But I promise it wasn't my intention to just stir up shit. Why would I do that in my own thread? I was just very shocked at what I was hearing, and, yes by people who know more about the subject than me. I just didn't want it to be true.
