Steroids & sports: IS IT FAIR?

I would never automatically defer to somebody just because they spent more of their life in school than me.
I've met many Doctors that didn't know what the hell they were talking about when it came to more specific sciences. The fact of the matter is, that most GP doctors do very little real work. Most people's problems can be solved by prescribing what the person knew that they needed in the first place. If you asked me what person I could impersonate better, an uneducated mechanic, or a highly educated Doctor, then I would say Doctor all day long. Some medical professionals are just plain wrong, and hold onto arbitrary ideas of what is acceptable. Some of these ideas are as unfounded as yours. They associated steroids with the big tough asshole guy from an 80s Van Damm movie. From that, they decided that steroids were wrong, then built reasons why. Instead of researching reasons, THEN making a decision about whether or not it is wrong.

You eventually conceded that you might be wrong and mislead, but you initially came in here to stir up shit. You came here for righteous confrontation. Admitting to be wrong is a very mature thing to do, admitting to the idea that led to this behavior is even more mature.
"You're right, I guess I originally came here because I felt right about something, and saw an opportunity to argue about it. Now that I'm aware of the error in my behavior, I'll remember this, and try to think before I act in the future"

But whatever, to each their own degree of growing up.

Listen I honest to God did not come here to stir up shit. Perhaps that was the outcome, but that honestly was not my planned intention. I started the "steroids and sports-is it fair" thread thinking it would be a discussion about the fairness of not only what I thought was only a few minority PED Users but the fairness of the punishments they received. I admit I wanted stricter sanctions. But instead I got just about everyone in the thread that all the athletes use PED's and only a few get caught. I'm a big sports fan and I was shocked at what I was being told. I didn't want to believe it. Now I have to admit that at the very least there's no evidence that most the athletes don't use PED's. But I promise it wasn't my intention to just stir up shit. Why would I do that in my own thread? I was just very shocked at what I was hearing, and, yes by people who know more about the subject than me. I just didn't want it to be true.

Animal mother is dead on about the Dr knowledge. Even when it came to substance abuse (I'm a recovering addict) doctors knew very little of how to treat it. In rehab they were tapering opioid addicts with tramadol when in the tramadol pamphlet it specifically says not to do so due to the lowered seizure threshold risk. In turn I saw a young lady seize because she didn't admit she had a low dose benzo habit as well. The doctor didn't even know tramadol lowered the seizure threshold at all...

Doctors still preach the whole 'naloxone prevents people from IV suboxone use" as well and give me a funny look when I mention binding affinities and what not.

Truth be told, I'd trust the reputable members of SD with my hormonal health over most doctors and the minds of Advanced Drug Discussion for my other needs. The collective minds of bluelight seem to shine brighter than any medical professional I've ever met.

That doctor was a dumbass! All and all though doctors don't know much about addiction, and its been even worse in the past when docs didn't seem to think there was such a thing as addiction. As for naloxone and binding affinities I'm totaly in the dark as far as the meaning of that stuff friend.

Ok, I usually dont post much but this is a subject I know VERY well :-) 1st- MOST athletes use PEDs at a certain level. This is a fact. 2nd-its not cheating when EVERYONE does it..more like evening the playing field. I have a chem background,so I know what I'm talking about. 80% of those who fail tests are idiots!! With custom PEDs and esters like prop or acetate, there is no reason to fail as they are out of ur urine so quickly!! HGH,IGF-1,MGF, Myostatin blocking peptides are not even detectable so getting caught is plain silly! Yes, PEDs can be dangerous when ABUSED!! There are tons of studies out there proving low dose,ie TRT Test,Anavar are safe and IN FACT GOOD FOR YOU!! 10 yrs ago you would never see commercials saying.."Do you have low T...feel tired,etc..now its every other commercial!! Because its BIG BUSINESS AND A HUGE $$ MAKER!!! The doc BIGGER,STRONGER,FASTER will tell you the real deal-a huge eye-opener if you know little about PEDs...So many Olympic USA athletes had positive tests and they were swept under the rug-just ask sprinter Ben Johnson(poor guy) He lost his gold medal to Carl Lewis WHO ALSO FAILED A TEST BUT WAS COVERED UP!! Its a dirty biz folks...before my arrest I was at the top of the game and privy to alot of secrets! Shit, my associate just sent 100 HGH kits to a world class UFC fighter last week!! THEY ALL TAKE PEDs so please dont fool yourself...

I have to admit its starting to make sense that what you and most of the others in this thread are right. I'm just a little shocked.I never
Would have thought... as far as the medicinal test I'm gonna tell my doc I want to see if low doses can help me with some of my problems.
