Damn I guess Ohio kids dont get no love from you NE kids....so far almost everyone to respond to me has been rude and I have not received any emails.......oh well regardless this will be a fuckin dope show....
 
Hey, does anyone know about the parking at the venue? Is it really horrible and will cars be damaged, or should it be OK. I'm assuming none of the hotels are within walking distance from the venue.
If you've got a general answer, just post it here. For anything too specific get at me on AIM or email - just REPLY to one of those messages that I keep sending you ;)

XPLORE: the parking last year was in a field... not the greatest, but at least it wasn't gravel. Hopefully we'll be rain free and it won't be muddy. If you really don't want to park out there, last year we were able to get cabs to go out there, regardless what some people have said previously.

XPLORE: parking last year was ok. I got there a little late so I had to park on the street and hike it. But not too bad. But definitely parking in the field was a little sketchy at best. I saw a bus get stuck in the mud...and my friends car got stuck int he mud too. He had to call a tow truck. But a whole bunch of people just cabbed it over last year. If you split the cab with like 4 people it's not too bad.

Parking Instructions
The parking situation at Starscape will be different this year from
previous years.
First point: Drive slowly upon approaching the event.
Once you turn off of 695 and turn left onto Hawkins Pt Rd, you should
remain alert.
The first parking situation will be to turn onto Ft Armistead Rd as per the
directions.
The event is at the end of the road, about 3/4 of a mile.
There will be parking attendants to direct you.
The grassy field closest to the gate will be reserved for those who do not
mind their cars getting blocked in until the end of the event.
Other than that, cars will be parked along Ft Armistead Road by the parking
staff.
As Ft Armistead Road fills up, the next lot will used will be the
industrial park at the beginning of Ft Armistead Road, it's called City
Line. Parking staff will also assist in parking this area.
When that is full, or at any time before that, we are going to use a
satellite parking area at the following location:
Follow the directions from 695 to Hawkins Point Road...
continue straight PAST FT ARMISTEAD Rd.
At the next intersection, turn left onto CABOT Rd.
You will now be in a massive complex of on street parking and parking lots,
parking staff will be there to direct you.
Further up Cabot Rd, it will intersect with Swan Lake Drive.
At this intersection we will have 50 passenger shuttle busses that will
take you to the front gate, and of course, will run all night to bring you
back.
This area will have security, parking staff, and police to assist and
patrol the area.
We strongly urge you to take advantage of the satellite lot.
Also note: There will be a bus stop along Ft Armistead Rd to minimize the
walk of those who park far from the gate. This pickup point will be at the
train crossing of Ft Armistead Rd (you can't miss it). If you are don't
want to walk, wait there.
 
As far as the cab: We had the cab company we took tell us they could come back and get us, then at 5am when we called back they said they didn't have anyone that was working that area. We ended up having to call around to another company and wait that morning, not in the best frame of mind.
If you do get a cab, make SURE they can/will pick you up, and get alternate numbers/have a cell just in case!

hey Skippie, it's cool bro, I love meeting new people too. :) But since some of the BLers who'll be visiting were burned before at a similar meet-up down South, many of them have a problem with making all the plans public and then actually following through and attending a meet-up that could again get them in trouble. So if you like meeting new people, this way we'll prolly get to meet more new people and they'll feel a little less aprehensive about other BLers.
And secondly, there is a real safety issue, in my opinion. Since there's a stigma that raves = Drugs, you'll have to agree that there is a possibility that a meet-up of members of a drug discussion board at a huge "rave" could also = drugs. Why attract even more attention to our little get together, especially when we know that even the people behind Ultraworld (who put on SS) were targeted unfairly in various drug-related attacks by law enforcement [here's explanation right from their site: http://www.ultraworld.net/Fight%20the%20Power/thetroubles.htm ]. We owe it to them and to ourselves to minimize our safety risks and their bad publicity. Hope to see you safe and sound at SS. :)
