Television Star Trek (all of 'em)

merged

the ferengi were the funniest imo
species 8472 were the most hardcore
Q was the most out there, followed closely by the shapeshifters.

Has anyone watched Star Trek: Enterprise beyond the opening title sequence (music)? I am halfway through season 2 and it is pretty awesome. T'Pol is sexy as hell and the crew is pretty likeable and funny. Dr. Flox is awesome also, not like that weirdo holographic doctor. The opening music is atrocious, but eh, what can you do.

I am a huge fan of TNG and grew up with it - my plan now is to watch all the star trek series and movies in order. I started with "First Contact" and am now watchin Enterprise the series, then the re-boot Movie, then TOS, then TOS Movies, etc...

I've watched the first and second season. It's not as great as TNG or DS9 but still good. I think it relies too heavily on time travel though. Other than that I think it is a solid series. I had a huge crush on T'pol for the longest time, she is by far the sexiest Vulcan EVER!

Can't decide if she looks better with the ears or without lol. Definitely like her better with long hair though.

I consider myself a Trekky, but not a hardcore one or anything (don't speak a lick of Klingon besides Kaplah and Stovokor lol).

My favorite has always been DS9. I liked the whole war between the Dominion-Cardassians and the rest of the Alpha Quadrant races, and Benjamin Sisko is a solid captain. Picard will always be the best though IMO.

Massive Trekkie here - been into it since I was a kid in the early 80's watching re runs of the 60's show, The Motion Picture was the first film I ever saw at the flicks and that sealed the deal - even to this day the flyby of the Enterprise in space dock gives me goosebumps. The Wrath of Khan is the best of the movies for me though, followed by (and I know no-one will agree with me) Nemesis, First Contact, The Undiscovered Country, The Voyage Home, The Search for Spock, the Motion Picture, Generations, Insurrection, and The Final Frontier, which I think is the only genuinely bad movie in the series (though it still has a few good moments). The 2009 movie I thought was excellent, very entertaining, some great casting and despite the time travel elements to the plot (which I normally dislike) a very neat way to reboot the franchise. I can see why some fanboys dislike it but I thought it was a job well done and can't wait for next year's sequel.

Series wise, the original series is just too old and dated for me to really enjoy it any more, The Next Generation was awesome (from season 3 onwards bar a couple of episodes), DS9 was the most entertaining for me though, especially the last couple of seasons with the Dominion War, enjoyed Voyager immensely too, and thought Enterprise was criminally underrated also

Been a trekkie since I was a kid, DS9 Voyager and TNG are all awsome IMO as well as the TNG movies i'm not too big on the original series but can definetly give it props for what it created and for the era it was pretty cool, i've heard good things about enterprise but the main actor (Scott Bakula?) makes me want to rip my eyes out, I honestly think its his haircut and well most of his face.... he just drive me nuts I would rather see Kevin Sorbo play the main and thats saying alot..

but ideally neither haha

Just realized I posted in this thread 5 years ago -______-

Anyone who has seen the Voyager episodes "Year of Hell Pt.1 and 2" has to appreciate Voyager. Red Forman (70s show) has that weapon that changes timelines. Fuckin sick.

I'm glad there's another Voyager fan here.

IMO, Voyager had the best two-parters of all the series. They were so involved and pushed the larger story arcs along in very meaningful ways.

year of hell ftmfw. that and species 8472 (from recollection) were awesome.

by the time enterprise came along, i was bored of the adventures of a ship and crew bit. only caught half the first season. might pick it all up later on. going through ds9 now. probably get the tng blu rays as they gradually come out.

will torrent the next abomination of a jj abrams film. fuck him.

Voyager is criminally underrated, has some epic story arcs, the ones you've described above, plus a whole host of excellent creative episodes, and the Doctor is as good a character as you'll find in any of the series or movies, I think the show suffered from over saturation - too much Trek on TV, which is what ultimately killed the franchise prior to the 09 movie (which I like by the way, and I'm a 38 year old fan)

i will revisit v-ger some day. i last watched it as it was coming out on vhs.

hurry up, captain janeway.

I am almost done with Enterprise. The Xindi story arc was cool - definitely more Stargate (militaristic) than what I consider Star Trek (grew up with tng). I think they could have done alot more with setting the stage for later events in the Star Trek world, because I have found those episodes most interesting.

What series should I start next?
I have seen most of the original series, but never in order.
Voyager?
DS9?

I'd go for DS9 as it came out first but it doesn't really matter - prepare for the first 3 seasons of it to be mixed at best, but from 4 onwards with the arrival of Worf and the Defiant the show takes off and never looks back, cumulating in the season long Dominion War story arc, making it my favorite Trek series, just edging TNG for me, but Voyager is excellent too and found it's feet a lot quicker - they're all superb television, and sorely missed...
