songs you feel in your bones

"I Can't Hear It Now."
(from "Arcane (Season 2)" soundtrack)

There is an ocean so dark down below the waves
Where you watch while these dreams gently float away
And there is a silence so soft it's only memory
Like the way your voice always sounds when you sing to me

But I can't hear it now
Just tell me how to keep breathing while pretending I'm not drowning
I don't know if I could

I watched a door close for good
'Cause I couldn't keep it open

I just watched as the door closed for good
'Cause I couldn't keep it open

Just tell me how to keep breathing while pretending I'm not drowning
I don't know if I could
I watched a door close for good
'Cause I couldn't keep it open

I often think of Greg when I hear this song; I can't listen to it without crying.

Can anyone figure out more of these lyrics?

I grew up
In a small town
Everywhere I went, I was put down
Everyone was big and I was small
Had nothing in my pocket, I had nothing at all ...

Kati Rán ft. Gaahl - BLODBYLGJE

Dead Can Dance - Host of Seraphim

Agnes Obel - Fuel to Fire

The first two are pretty intense.

I just want to speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind
'Cause I know there is peace within Your presence
I speak Jesus

[Verse 2: Charity Gayle]
I just want to speak the name of Jesus
'til every dark addiction starts to break
Declaring there is hope and there is freedom
I speak Jesus

[Chorus: Charity Gayle & Steven Musso]
Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life
Break every stronghold
Shine through the shadows
Burn like a fire

[Verse 3: Charity Gayle, Charity Gayle & Steven Musso]
I just want to speak the name of Jesus
Over fear and all anxiety
To every soul held captive by depression
I speak Jesus

"We are all just prisoners here / Of our own device"

“You can check out any time you like / But you can never leave"

I think this is probably about drug addiction, but I have always interpreted this to be more about any type of addiction & just self delusion in general. I think it also applies to modern life overall, being trapped in The Matrix, living without purpose or agency.

Brandon Lake, Jelly Roll—Hard Fought Hallelujah

Yeah, I don't always feel it
Yeah, but that's when I need it the most
So I'ma keep on singin'
'Til my soul catches up with my song
There's times when my hands go up freely
Times that it costs, mm-mm
There's days when a praise comes out easy
Days when it takes all the strength I've got

I'll bring my hard fought, heartfelt
Been through hell hallelujah
And I'll bring my storm tossed, torn sail
Story to tell hallelujah
Oh-oh-oh
'Cause God You've been patient
God You've been gracious
Faithful, whatever I'm feelin' or facin'
So I'll bring my hard fought, heartfelt
It is well hallelujah
Whoa
Hallelujah, hallelujah

I've wrestled with the darkness
But I'm trying to reach for the light
Yeah, the struggle keeps me honest
And it breaks down the walls of my pride
'Cause faith isn't proven like gold
'Til it's been through the fire
Hey, hey (hey)
My head, heart and hands are feeling heavy
That's when I lift them just a little higher

I'll bring my hard fought, heartfelt
Been through hell hallelujah, mm
I'll bring my storm tossed, torn sail
Story to tell hallelujah
Whoa
God, You've been patient
God, You've been gracious
Faithful, whatever I'm feeling or facing
I'll bring my hard fought, heartfelt
It is well hallelujah
Whoa
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Mm, yeah
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, whoa
Whoa, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa, oh-oh, oh-oh, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa

I'll bring my hard fought, heartfelt
Been through hell hallelujah
I'll bring my storm tossed, torn sail
Story to tell hallelujah
Oh-oh-oh
God, You've been patient
God, You've been gracious
Faithful, whatever I'm feeling or facing
I'll bring my hard fought, heartfelt
It is well hallelujah
Oh, hallelujah

Mm, yeah, hallelujah
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Hallelujah, hallelujah, halle-, halle-, mm
Hallelujah

In fact lyrics of this songs are closely related to movie from 1973 called "The big bouffe" or "La grande abuffata"...the protagonist of the song without intention....just tired of driving stop at the motel"just for a night"......a place that he thought" it could be heaven or it could be hell"......well in the end he realize it's the second......u got -"the rooms that they got together for their feast(again the movie) and stabing with the knives, but they just can't kill the beast".......ye.....one wrong step and u are doomed.....u are locked in hotel California

This song resonates so deep with me….

Can you tell I’ve been hiding from the storm?
Can you see I don’t want to be here anymore?
I want out of the darkness in my mind,
But what if they don’t find me in time?
What am I gonna do with all this war paint?
I’m running out of battles with my name.
What am I gonna do with all this war paint?
I’m tired of searching
Ready for something to go wrong.
Did you hear I lost my mind again?
I had tried to find it in the medicine.
It’s been known to kill everything else,
But sometimes nothing is better
Than the things that I have felt.

While he sleeps he can feel the pulse of the universe quivering
Beneath his fingers he can strum the strings of creation
He can watch stars be born and die in a single breath
With all this power, if only he could master his foe

For all his accomplishments amount to nothing
If his being is devoured by one greater than himself
Vile misanthropy spews silently forth from a stone face
Brutality driven by fear

Confronted in solitude, he is faced with the gnawing truth
That it was not darkness where he was birthed
Looking for answers, writhing in madness
Cursed like a leper, endless sorrow

How do I kill this hated part of myself
How do I remove this putrid fragment of my soul
There is an unending well of hatred within me
From which bile and fury spring forth

[Chorus]
Vengeance against time
Vengeance against memory
The malice that clouds his mind
Vengeance will be his
