Songs that remind you of drugs

Their was a limit to what was available then.
But, they had a lot you can't get, now.

I don't know if they had Hydrocodone cough syrup or codeine/ promethazine
syrup.

They have some different meds now almost 5 decades after the King died on his Throne. lol

Then again, people want; what people could get in the 70's, but not now.
" then" from what I had read this discourse was related to the 21stC!? Can't find the OP so, can't reference.
Perhaps, the OP was changed by the OG- habit of that occurring on forums 🤷‍♂️ ...leading to silliness.

Anyhow,

Yeah, I think of Elvis getting a DEA Badge from then President nixon. LMAO

But the later 60's songs like J.A. White Rabbit, with the early drug lyrics that got past the censors. 8 miles high; The Byrds. The only song of theirs I like, it is also their best song.IMO

Too me those stickout.

Pink Floyd, is naturally conducive to chilling out with certain substances. I hear.🙃🫠🤪

I just think he had a whole pharmacy in his blood stream, and he got a DEA badge from Nixon.lol

OH, THE IRONY!!

That is just funny.

...when your frame of reference is based on Nixon & Elvis. 🫡👽

I am pretty old (was 50 a couple days back) and Gee’s was oldskool even in my youth. Very much certain the active was opium tincture. Codeine linctus is still legal - as is Gee’s - but good luck finding a pharmacist who’ll sell it you :\

At my pharmacy (CVS), there has been a sign there for a few years now that says something like Codeine with Promethazine will not be sold anymore.

There are a TON of songs about drugs, but I feel like most of their lyrics are usually somewhat ambiguous, vague, and allude to drug use, but....

If someone didn't already say it- Oxycotton by Lil Wyte is by far the most blatant song about drugs that I am familiar with. I think that it came out in like 2003ish so that was when getting the stuff was really easy legally, but I want someone to make an updated version of the song and call it something like "Ibuprofen 800", "Acetaminophen", "Gabapentin" etc. since that is all anyone is gonna get nowadays from a doctor 😂

Songs that remind you of drugs don’t necessarily have to be about drugs. For example…

This album has very strong memories of the salad days of my heroin era. Long summers, easy scores, no problem hitting veins. Life was good… but trouble was brewing :|

That one's obviously opioid.

This has an erotic psychedelic vibe for me.

This song & the whole album is a heart warming mild empathogen, taken with a loved one on a cold winter day infront of the fireplace.

That one's a beautiful party with your friends on just the right mix of party drugs to open your heart.

Woah wtf?? I never knew that KB song was about drugs. I've listened to that song so many times and for years now, had no clue!!

Ok, so what you are saying is that song reminds you of drugs because you were heavily using when you had this song in heavy rotation??

The latter! My then partner played that album almost every morning during a period I was using heroin regularly but not really experiencing any problems with it.

In short, happy, heroiny days 💜

(and it’s a great album, which is always a bonus!)
