Songs about drugs that no one knows are about drugs.

23.84% of all flaming lips songs might be about heroin or might be about something else.

Even tho I find this one pretty obvious, "Cold Turkey" by John Lennon which is about heroin w/d which the average person prolly wouldn't notice. I don't think it's a very popular/well known song n e way.

"E-Bow the Letter" by REM (not to mention their "I Don't Sleep, I Dream") feels like it to me. "Three Day Man" by the Waterboys has to be.

HOTEL CALIFORNIA by the eagles is most definitely about cocaine.
The version I've heard quiet a lot is that the song is actualy about Chino State Prison in So. Cali. If you listen to the lirics with this thought in mind you'll see what I'm talking about.

"Zak and Sara" by Ben Folds is about MDMA

"She saw the lights, she saw the pale English face
Some strange machines repeating beats and thumping bass
Visions of pills that put you in a loving trance
That make it possible for all white boys to dance
And when Zak finished Sara's song, Sara clapped"

the gorillaz "clint eastwood" of course it's not a secret that it's about psychedelics, but it's a great song.

"I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless,but not for long
The future is coming on
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on"

psychedelics???
it's about cocaine. read the whole lyrics please.
also, "SUNSHINE IN A BAG" how does that imply psychedelic use???

^ word. ill agree with that.

Tool - Third Eye. although im not really sure about that, the lyrics at the end tend to suggest its about religion even though the speech at the beginning suggests LSD.

Dreaming of that face again.
It's bright and blue and shimmering.
Grinning wide
And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes.

On my back and tumbling
Down that hole and back again
Rising up
And wiping the webs and the dew from my withered eye.

In... Out... In... Out... In... Out...

A child's rhyme stuck in my head.
It said that life is but a dream.
I've spent so many years in question
to find I've known this all along.

"So good to see you.
I've missed you so much.
So glad it's over.
I've missed you so much
Came out to watch you play.
Why are you running?"

Shroud-ing all the ground around me
Is this holy crow above me.
Black as holes within a memory
And blue as our new second sun.
I stick my hand into his shadow
To pull the pieces from the sand.
Which I attempt to reassemble
To see just who I might have been.
I do not recognize the vessel,
But the eyes seem so familiar.
Like phosphorescent desert buttons
Singing one familiar song...

"So good to see you.
I've missed you so much.
So glad it's over.
I've missed you so much.
Came out to watch you play.
Why are you running away?"

Prying open my third eye.
So good to see you once again.
I thought that you were hiding.
And you thought that I had run away.
Chasing the tail of dogma.
I opened my eye and there we were.

So good to see you once again
I thought that you were hiding from me.
And you thought that I had run away.
Chasing a trail of smoke and reason.

Prying open my third eye.

Strawberry Fields by Beatles always reminded me of LSD.

No, Strawberry Fields Forever is about an orphanage that one of the Beatles (Don't remember which one) used to volunteer at in Liverpool.

lucy in the sky john denied being about drugs up until his last interviews. someone please explain to me what he gained by lying. dig a pony is nonsense lyrics. source after source after source verifies it. but hey, if if someone thinks that their hidden meanings are cooler by all means go about believing that's what was intended.

Lennon never denied the song was about drugs, he just said the title was a coincidence.

Furthermore, I never thought that any of of the Beatles were into heroin (Paul says that he only tried it once by mistake).

Anyway, to stay on topic, the song "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed is assumed by most to be a love song, which is the obvious answer, but it's really about Lou Reed's heroin use. I guess it is a love song, in a way.

MudVayne - Pharmacopeia

"Pharmaecopia"

Does your god come in a capsule,
To sedate you tear the walls down,
Headless prison cannibals chew,
to consume you bring the alien,

Halcium and morphine,
5-methoxy-n, n-dimethyltryptamine,
Psilocybin, mescaline, aspirin, histomine,
Brushite, darvaset, valium, caffeine, cannabis, and LSD,
Ayahuasca, harmine give it all to me I want it

These are just a few of my favorite things [X 2]

Trisolam and Xanax, serotonin, mdma, ibogaine, dopeamine,
Tetra-hydro-chloride, atenolol,
Amanita muscaria, Boric oxide, arrabinitol, psilocin, and flamizine,
Cylotec and harmaline
Give it all to me I want it

Does your god come in a capsule to sedate you,
Tear the walls down, headless prison,
Cannibals chew to consume you,
Bring the alien

You can't kill me,
I'm already dead
Inside my hole,
Inside my head,
We just beg for any way to be sedated,
It's all about escaping,
Numb to me,
Numb body from this hell,

I can feel them pushing, I can feel them pulling
I can feel them holding, I can feel them moving,
I can feel them prying, I can feel them prodding,
I can feel them breathing, I can feel them digging
I can feel them stabbing, I can feel them scoping,
I can feel them living, I can feel it,
Consume, take in, plunging, plumbing,
Instruments prying, aliens inside me,
Tooling the machine,
Intoxicating,
Feel it unfolding, riddles in me

It's all about escaping, we just beg for any way to get away
Who do you bow down to, does your god come in a capsule or on a
plate
They're trying to sedate you, swallow self and bring on the alien
You tried to kill me, I'm already dead to this world
I'm already dead to this world

Velvet Underground-I'm Waiting For My Man

At first, I thought I would be capable of playing this with a straight edge in my car. Then they go "Does every song you listen to have to be about drugs?" I proceeded to tell them that Lou Reed was gay and that he was waiting for "his man". The songs so awesome and true if you look at the lyrics though, it's my favorite song to play while I'm anticipating a phone call from the man saying he's ready with the goods.

"I'm feeling good, I'm feeling oh so fine/until tommorow but that's just some other time."

If he's able to identify with that song enough to get the message, then he can't be that straight edged.

Lennon def was. There was a recording of him in an interview and he said he did it to escape the pressure and fans and media. He was also known to smoke Thai sticks, which is weed laced with weak opium.

"Monsters In The Parasol" by Queens of The Stone Age is apparently about LSD. Don't believe me? I heard it from Josh Homme last night ;).

You guys want to listen to some New Order. True Faith is an excellent song by them that describes drug use. Here's some of the lyrics from the song, infact, this is the starting line:

"I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much"

Get a hold of this song NOW!

Well you would know it was about drugs but !!! - Storm the Legion

"LSD taught me a lot about me
or what i think and not just naturally,
it's too good to tell, is i'm walking to hell
with all the other acid causualties"

Billy Joel - Big Shot

"
You had the Dom Perignon in your hand
And the spoon up your nose
And when you wake up in the morning
With your head on fire
And your eyes too bloody to see
Go on and cry in your coffee
But don't come bitchin' to me
"

Glad to meet a fellow fan. Check out the music video and you'll see why I suspect Absinthe ;) .

And yeah, I acutally was convinced that it was a girl ofor a while. Then I payed attention to the lyrics and thought it was heroin ("my blood wants to say hello to you".... so I was thinking IV). But the music video should satisfy your curiosity.

I've never seen the video. But I have an interest (and a bottle) in/of Absinthe.
